    This is the revised and corrected video upload. It replaces the original that I uploaded yesterday. I made a mistake or two with the stitch counts that needed to be corrected to avoid future confusion. I apologize for any confusion! Thanks for watching and supporting my channel with your subscriptions and likes!

    I am doing my socks toe up. I have the toes of both socks knitted up to the 64 total stitches. I placed lifelines. I took one toe off the needle and tried it on. Fitting well so far. I am a huge fan of lifelines for keeping the unknitting of mistakes to a minimum and for keeping both socks the same. I keep a little plastic bowl of lifeline strings that I have used for years along with a blunt needle in my project box.

    Jana-my most often used joining in the round method is to cast on 1 extra stitch. When the circle is created I slip that extra stitch to the beginning and knit this last stitch and the first stitch together (K2tog). This creates an effective and sturdy join. Can be a bit fixedly...but no more so than your efforts in creating a knot.

    I've been knitting since Grade 2 (I'm 71 now) and have never had success with socks. No idea why, but watching your videos and listening to the logic in the way you explain things I think I actually going to buy the yarn and give some of your knits a try. Thanks!

    I just completed row one of the pattern and found this surprisingly easy. I am going slow, some of my ribbing looks a little wonky, but my Aunt would say that is just character and makes it uniquely my own. Thank you for taking the time to reach these methods.

    So, to make sure I understand this correctly, I would do a plain knit round across the back of the sock and continue with a plain knit round across the pattern stitches. The reason it confuses me is I don’t see a knit round on the example sock. Thank you for offering this knit a long. You have done an outstanding video.

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  5 років тому

      Yes, it is difficult to see on the video since the pattern flows together well, but I assure you that I've followed the chart as written, knitting the even numbered rows.

    I always do 20% negative ease for the diameter and 10% for the foot length. I found that if I knit the sock foot the same length as my actual foot it bunches up inside my shoes, which is never comfortable.

    Hi Jana, I have a question about knitting this pattern because I need to know if I would knit across the front of the sock in plain knit. In other words, is there a plain knit round including back and front of the sock?

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  5 років тому

      Yes, every other round in the chart is plain. Have you download the free pattern? The link is in the video description.

    Jan, I am confused, the pattern says M1 but it doesn’t indicate if its m1 left or m1 right.
    Would you please clarify that???

      If you're new to knitting and new to knitting socks particularly, I'd suggest starting with a simple, cuff down sock. Check out this video playlist.

    Jana...help...new to knitting socks...my socks came out too tight...around the instep and somewhat around the leg. My foot measures 9.25 in length and 9 in circumference. My swatch came to 18 sts and 26 rows for two inches. Sooo do I need to add stitches or change needle size. I am knitting with fingerling weight..100% superwash merino wool, euro sock, Mad/Tosh yarn. I loved knitting this pattern and learning from you...I know I am the boss of my knitting but I am over it and want you to be the BOSS!😂

    • @PurlTogether

      How many stitches did you cast on?

    • @joannewhitbeck3667
      @joannewhitbeck3667 3 роки тому

      Purl Together 64

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 роки тому

      @@joannewhitbeck3667 That's your issue. If you take the 9" circumference multiplied by 9 stitches per inch, you'd come up with 81 sts. Even if you subtract 10% for negative ease. you'd still want to cast on 72 at least.

    • @joannewhitbeck3667
      @joannewhitbeck3667 3 роки тому

      Purl Together so add more stitches not change needle sizes. Was my gauge ok? It didn’t sound right either...I was just excited about knitting the pattern!

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  3 роки тому

      I normally knit socks at about 8-9 stitches per inch depending upon the yarn. The gauge is up to you and your preference of the density of the fabric you prefer.

    Jana, I try to be so carefully with my stitches on the pattern side but sometimes my count gets off. Usually it’s off by one stitch. Could you please comment on what I am doing wrong. I go back and count the stitches from the start but I cannot find where the mistake is. Thank you.

    • @PurlTogether
      @PurlTogether  5 років тому

      When that happens to me, it's likely that I've miscounted somewhere, or I've more than likely missed an increase or decrease. If you're count if over by one, then possibly you're making an inadvertent yarn over when if you're magic looping?

      Hi Jackie, I'd suggest that you watch the next video in the playlist. Part 1.5 all about the increases.
      As for the ssk, there is a negligible difference between which way you choose to slip the first stitch, so experiment with both and see which you think looks best!
