Worked on them for 50 years, grill removal was a mod carried out to improve air flow through radiators , they also have wheel manual operated shutters , they also went from centrifugal clutch fans as built, to electro magnetic clutches. This helped engine warm up faster so helped them run better at 77 or just above degrees C. The fan would cut in when it reached a set temp.. We modified loads at Canton. The fan control could be over ridden by staff if the engine was running too hot by flicking a switch in the fan room.
@@DOCTORDROTT Thanks for your comment, some really great knowledge, obviously one of my locos had the mod you mentioned 🤣 do you still work on loco on a preserved line, I am sure your knowledge would be an asset 👍
@Kingscleremodelrailway Thank you, Stu. Dylan is starting to make it come to life. Have you seen his update video. He's really enjoying the whole journey of creating his own layout...cheers James and Dylan 🙂👍
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY I have and glad he is enjoying it, I used the same method to detail the cobbles in the yard as he did for the pavement and walls. The citadel paints are really good, especially the washes. Looking forward to his further updates. 🙂
@@DYLINGTONMODELRAILWAY Same here, the paints were used on my son’s Warhammer models, but now I used on the modelu figures! I have so many modelu figures now, I could do a whole video just on them 🤣😂
Nice video👍Accurascale models are excellent and sound really good. I got D6800 sound fitted and very I am very pleased with it. I did notice that the BR Green is slightly darker then my other green Hornby and Bachmann locos and wondered what your thoughts are.
@@roberthall-h7r thank you for your comment 🙂 as for the green, It’s hard to say. When I have compared to my other loco’s (from other manufacturers) there are slight variations, however, this was true in the real world, as all depots would never have exactly the same tin of paint and prep would have differed, using different primers etc. So to be honest, as I am weathering all the loco’s, this lightens up all the colours so I am not that concerned. Also it will depends on your lighting, it is always hard to compare colours that are in daylight or cloud to colours indoor under artificial light and also when you scale down, items do look a little darker. I had a similar issue with the model aircraft 🙄
Wonderful video and looking forward to seeing more liked and subed by the way we have the same amount of subs at this moment so all the best Colin from Mossend railway oo 😊.
@@colinwarrior Thanks Colin, as I said in an early video, I like the modelling part of it however, not too sure about the video part! But assisted by my son, who was also doing his GCSE in film studies, we embarked on this journey, I never considered it would get so big and I am very grateful to all the subscribers and people who have left comments.
@@colinwarrior PS, I’ve subscribed to you too, please don’t be envious of larger loft layouts, they cost loads more and take far too much time, what you have there; is great 👍
