Thanks to Strike Force Five ⚡, I now know Jimmy did infact get all fixed up for the show. He hired a stylist and that outfit was super expensive. Just because of the name on the tag. Letterman just sees a T-shirt and jeans. Just goes to show you, sometimes you really are just paying for name.

Jimmy Fallon is so bad at late night. He’ll never make it in that arena. I’m so smart and experienced with show business, I can tell you that he is cringe and annoying. I have no accomplished anything in that industry but that’s irrelevant because I still know what I’m talking about.
You’re not considering that he was just getting started and being on Letterman was a huge deal because it had consequences for your rise or fall as an entertainer. It’s a lot of pressure that would cause anyone to be super hyped up. Falcon’s a very animated guy as it is and it’s no surprise he was nervous and squirmy.

Dave was the best! Got me through high school in the late 80’s. Crazy that Jimmy actually got the show that Dave and Conan both wanted.
Yes, it really is...
Wow, I didn't realize how nervous Jimmy was in early years.
Yeah, but still kinda cocky. You’d have to be.
Not as much as you would be.
Yes... it's why some of us old-timers were quite surprised when he was offered the Tonight Show.

Jimmy is significantly more talented than Pete.
No. Jimmy is actually funny.

30 years later and Jimmy’s social skills really improved
It's good to see Lonnie Donegan as a guest on Dave's show.
Hahaha I call him that all the time too as a throw back! You are a serious Dave fan.
Lonnie Donegan
Haha, I always think of that when I see Fallon. I also think of how unfunny Fallon is, but that's another discussion.
