I think the gearbox wear is attributed by the shifting at Singapore.
There was a patch that changed how gearbox wear works depending on season/session length.
I don't understand the patch note myself, but it seems to have been an issue for me pre-patch, where I ran 100% Aus GP, then 50% from then on. I had to change my gearbox into the fifth race because the wear was so bad.
@@alistairwall5470 I also had massive problems with gearboxes. I raced 25% races but had gearbox destroyed in 5th race - I lost one gear. After changing gearbox and taking penalty I had to change it again after 3 races...

Arami I agree, it’d be more realistic. Especially for a rushed upgrade. I also think it’d be frustrating for some, so I think it should be an option/choice for the player.

I like when Ben doesn’t score any points. I feel for this first season, it’s the most realistic thing that can happen. I don’t even blame him because he’s a fantastic player but codemasters really need to make something more difficult and make the AI be more both aggressive and Defensive
You must have your weather setting on "nascar" mode because almost every one of their races have been rain delayed/postponed this year

One of my gear boxes blow up literally. It did 1 race and was at 51% and then at the next race it got all the way to 100% with 2 laps remaining
Same thing happened with me, first race already 56%. The second race in Bahrein I finished with 97%, its just bullcrap!
Yup I got the same as well I'm on my third gearbox and not even halfway through the season yet!
I know it's annoying but dont you think it creates diversity within career mode? Not just perfect engine all the time cause in real life this stuff obviously happens.
@@dreams4518 Honestly, yeah. The previous F1 games constantly had the NPCs blowing engines, but I've never seen an engine failure of a player-controlled car in my hundreds of hours of playtime. Adds some sort of realism and stakes to engine management.

I was reading the steam update and it seems that with the new update, they updated gearbox wear and durability to not depend only on the number of races. might be the reason for the gearbox problem
If you simulate practice 3 it will simulate wear on your gearbox, a good way to make the gearbox last is to only do like half of all FP3 sessions

Ben for crying out loud. When the time in session is 2:30 or lower do a manual out lap. The game always takes too long to do an out lap. You've known this since 2017.

Have you realised that you as in the player always lose 50k in damages after the race and mick does not. It's not that you crash each race. The amount of money lost over a season would come to 600k

Honestly, isn't it more fun to play the game just how real formula one teams do. Such as the engine components. It's unrealistic you take penalties for engine upgrades which haven't even been developed. Just cuz you've had a bad qualifying doesn't mean you should abuse the games bugs/faults!
Meanwhile, I'm here with 6 engine parts coming into Russia. Lol. Abusing the shit out of the system.
They should add a financial cost to ordering new parts.

I haven’t done the experiments on it but i’m convinced selecting ‘flying lap’ takes longer to get to the start of the lap than ‘drive out’ does. Probably the game’s way of penalising us for trying to save real life time. Returning to the garage as opposed to driving back to the pits probably has the same effect. (P.S. Been a quiet follower of your Career Modes for a few years Ben, great to see you flourishing. Congrats on the impending 500k!)
CM should add a part in my team where once you save like 25 million, you can manufacture your own engine, but once you choose to, you lose all progress for everything on the existing powertrain and any work in the engine department is reset entirely back to Spec 0, it’s something you can only do during the in between period between seasons and your Running Costs rapidly shoot up, since you have to develop and maintain a good engine. This would also put even further emphasis on the departments. And eventually other teams could inquire into purchasing your engine as well.

The way you shift causes a lot of wear. Going down 4-5 gears all of a sudden and constantly hitting the limiter causes a lot of wear. Just go do a free race and cruise at the top of 3rd gear, change down to 2nd early and look at the wear

Ben, a little opinion from someone who used to race professionally. Start braking a little earlier. You always have said that you are the braking king but you always miss the braking point, in the end, you keep braking while you have turned your wheel. You could improve a lot by sorting your braking, exit speed is what matters, not who can brake the latest. When you will sort this out then the straight-line speed will be better and corner rotation will be better as well.

I never give the option to start the flying lap. I always drive out
I only drive out on the 2nd flying lap of Q2 to preserve the tyre. Other times, driving out is wasting me real life time.

I have a quite particular question and others might be interested too whats your opinion about it.
The Driver ratings develop threw the year and they have some plus ratings.
I have started my second season now and are going to keep matushita who originally has a rating of somewhat like 64.
Now it shows he has an overall rating of 81 but the stats are still the same beside the the green plus rating next to it (about +15 on every stat).
But if i compare him to like Giovinazzi who is a 73 rated driver it still shows that he lacks in the singular ratings by far.
long story short
do you think the overall rating is the actual to look after or are the singular stats who you need to look for (with or without the plus ratings next to them),
because it seems like they dont get
taken into consideration.
I think the components have a bit of rng with their wear. Like it’s not guaranteed to last 6 races, but it’s expected

People talk about difficulty, or the ai not being strong enough. If you look at overall car comparison you are pretty close to the top tier cars. It is possible that your choices make your car much stronger on some tracks. Also certain tracks are waaaay faster with a better set up while the AI seem to always be default.

I've currently got the gearbox glitch. Took a fresh Gearbox for Monza (for some reason it gave me a 22 place grid penalty....) did a 50% race and finished the race on 42% wear like fml.
Also ben when you dont qualify in the top 10, try the alternate strategy and start on mediums/hards, when you get stuck in the drs train you lose less time to your overall race delta then when you have the softer tyre on 2nd half of the race it's easier to cut through the drs train

It’s possible it’s the number of gear shift changes in the last few races and how aggressive they are.. each track is a little different depending on the type and number of corners
If I remember the T3 uses racing gear, so if you was doing to much laps on T3 you basically wasted all of your gear, avoid T3 laps.

im so glad their patching the gearbox issues im into 3rd gearbox already not done 6 races with it and im always smooth with my gear changes pretty frustrating
I am telling you, the gearbox is the achilles heel of every career mode car, sometimes the wear is just insane
acually in general, noticed it in gp mode and career as well but in myteam- more than in drivercareer, maybe due to weaker gearbox durability at the start or I just noticed it more in my team as I have played that most
I found that down shifting that made the revs go too high cause a huge amount of transmission wear. I downshifted lower down in the revs and have 16% after 3 races.
Yeah i get that but its a bit anoying for me because i am not used to iT i now need to change my gearbox each 2/3 races wich is weird
Tijs AMG yeah it’s take a huge learning curve to break the habit. F1 2019 rewarded downshifting too fast. Also the 1.05 update was supposed to address gearbox wear some.

That gearbox thing is weird. If it was being damaged by going over the curbs, then your control electronics should have higher wear than 20% since going over curbs wears it down significantly
I started this game off with no assist other than pit and breaking lines, had the AI set to just under hard and was getting whooped for awhile, then it all clicked and I've been getting podiums regularly now, guess it's time to increase the difficulty haha. Enjoy watching your progress.

Yeah, the third gearbox in mine did have more wear than others, but not that bad. That's a focus in the early part of my second season, that and chassis were my regulation changes.
Then again I switched to Merc engines for season 2 and suddenly Ben's working on the engines...wonder if that's why they have reliability problems...

Had some Gearbox Problems in my First race of my 3rd season. Had 96% wear with 5 laps top go (50% race). If a safety car hadnt come out i'd DNF because i finished with 99%
Upgrading for positive effects of team activities does give you more points for training, I’m keeping my rookie to see how long it takes for him to get points
Btw sudu have easy objective for sponsor: Achieve fastest lap for any session. So this means u can get thar done in FP1 when u use soft cus bots going mediums are hards there. Just quick tip
You do know if you press the overtake button before the lights go out you will get a better start

Italian GP absolutely destroyed my gearbox being at the rev limit often. Perhaps Ben didn't notice it, but I'm betting that was when.

I never choose Flying Lap in the last 3 minutes of a session... I timed it at least 20 seconds longer then actually driving out of the pits in Canada.

With the new patch 1.05 that came out today they changed the gearbox wear rate so maybe that's why your gearbox was so badly damage.
I had the same issue with the front nose, the car didn't feel light or nimble as it did through the corners, I also saw my front nose had some damage....but not visible on MFD...I think I was riding the curbs to hard...I remember the car jumped too... didn't make contact with any other drivers. I wonder if this holds us back...felt like it did.thanks 4 the gr8 content🙌🙌🙌👍
