  • Restoring damaged spinal cords. See how we make graphene nanoribbons by the longitudinal unzipping of carbon nanotubes and how we used those to repair the spinal cord in a rodent. The rodent, after its spinal cord had been completed cut in two, started walking again two weeks after application of the graphene nanoribbons. After three weeks the rodent scored a 19 out of 21 on a mobility scale, where 21 is optimal mobility. This is also being studied for healing peripheral nerves and optic nerves, the latter being studied to restore sight to the blind. Through this, might we, in our small way, do something analogous to the works of Jesus Christ, in making the lame walk and the blind see? Though Jesus did these healings far more elegantly. And in our other videos, the poor have the gospel preached to them.

I found this through your short video that popped up on my feed. Your work should receive a blank check for funding research and rushing it to market the same way they did the covid vaccines. There will be thousands of injured and blind people who would sign waivers to get just a chance to be healed. Thank you and your staff and students for your work.

Dr. Tour, yes, people will want to know about the company that licensed this technology. You said it was Neurocords, but it seems that this company was dissolved this past August. Did the technology fail in humans? Would it be too much trouble to ask for an update on the company that licensed this technology? This video is now 4 years old. Just curious. Thanks.

Dr. Tour, are these essentially superconductors?
Has this been tested on brain tissue or via intravenous injection?
This looks like it could have far more implications than just a spinal cord. Even directly on the central nervous system in general? Brain injuries? Nerve damage?
Are you experimenting on these nano carbons with pulsed electromagnetic fields PEMF?

As someone who was diagnosed with Degenerative disc disease, would this help restore the spinal compression in someone like myself?, if trials of such start on human subjects?..
Or is this limited to just restoring what was completely severed in the test subject?
Are there clinical trials on other forms of spinal injuries?
My alternatives are fusion or "titanium rods" on lower lumbar...
Thanks for any feedback, from anyone.✌🏼

Let me give you my take on this.....I am an L1 Paraplegic....
I suffer from extreme neuropathic pain, so much so that i am on Meds one would give to someone in late stage cancer, I am totally self sufficient and returned to the sport that broke my back, becoming one off the first paraplegic Skydivers in the world.....point is i went on with my life....but my life is pain........
When i think of purposely taking an animal that did not volunteer and severing their spinal cord causing the kind of pain i am going through....I have a visceral reaction to it...
Now my feeling were made a little better that the rat in the Video recovered somewhat, but quickly realized there must have been subjects that had bad reactions or no progress.....what about the suffering of these animals? i am not blaming or pointing fingers.....just an honest question. While i would love to walk again, and certainly, i dream every day of being released from my pain....and i do mean that with extreme prejudice sometimes ....I am very conflicted about making other beings suffer in order for a possible recovery for me. Overall i understand that there are limited choices, or NO choices really, and if the medical fraternity were going to be giving us these great advances for free, i might feel differently.....but these animals are being injured for ultimate profit, if there is ever a cure i wont get it unless i can pay...just points to ponder

You are obviously of the walt disney generation watching cartoons that depict animals talking, laughing, crying, and reacting like humans and as is the case with millions of that era you believe that bugs bunny, speedy gonzalos, the three little pigs, daffy duck and pluto are all human.. In fact sadly many people put animal welfare above human welfare..Now lets get to the science of the perception of pain.. A couple of years ago I was on the scene of an accident where a large semi-trailer carrying sheep rolled over at an intersection, many sheep were very badly injured. There were a number of sheep that had their legs completely torn off. Some only had one torn off, some a front leg and some a rear leg, you know what was interesting, well it was that they were grazing on the grass on the side of the road, as if nothing had happened.. So what is the point? Animals do not feel pain to the same DEGREE as humans do, so to compare your pain to that of a rat is quite absurd and to make the inference that Dr Tour has inflicted suffering on the rat shows your lack of understanding of biology. I had renal cell carcinoma some years ago, I agreed to have someone push a knife into my abdomen and then proceed to cut my kidney out. Forget about the reason I had it done, it is about the raw act of the knifing and whether or not this Dr had inflicted suffering on me..Well I did not feel the procedure and there was not post operative pain..That is the point and that is why all you who scream and holla about animal rights are living in a cartoon..Do you apply the same criticism when you are chomping down a piece of chicken or diving into a Big Mac. Here is an example of the stupidity of being brain washed by Walt (don't get me wrong I loved em all too) last year an animal rights group tried to take court action against a man who raised his voice in an aggressive manner to his dog..here in Australia we can no longer kill the introduced noxious pest the Cane Toad with a single blow to the head, the law states that we have to put these vermin into our refrigerators first and freeze them (madness)..Again the intelligence of the Disney generation. Where does this flawed reasoning and insanity stop? Will the welfare of flies and maggots be next..Would you have taken a derogatory swipe at Dr Tour had he used a fly instead of a rat.. Please don't answer that, I don't want my respect for human intelligence completely destroyed.. I apologize if this has been blunt.

The rats recovery was really good and it was behaving pretty much like every lab rat ever at the end. They usually sedate animals for surgery etc. Out of all the lab results that's not in vain. We send humans into countless wars with no clear objective the only results being a pipeline or unstable political situation. Not to mention the civilian causalities.

@@Dontlie2024 you are obviously not someone who has suffered significant pain for any length of time. I have been in extreme pain for 15 years....
I had no negative words to say about Dr Tour. My concerns are moral in nature..... You are clearly weak in this regard.
I doubt flies have the same mammalian pain receptors we have so that suggestion is laughable. The fact that you don't care at all about these animals I think absolves you of an opinion.

    • @1cptchaos
      @1cptchaos 4 роки тому

@@belliotrungy9107 I was sedated several times for spinal operations.... This only negates the pain of the actual procedure not the after effects.. You have to be strapped to a metal table for 24 hrs to stabilize the surgery.. They care not about your comfort or your pain (not in my country anyway) not being able to walk is not the only downside.... All sexusl function gone... Can't pee without cathater.... How do they deal with this in rats? (they just let therm suffer) bowels as well... Lower bwel does not work.... Very painful
Now I never said this is the worst thing in the world.... I just don't feel very good about it..... Should I?

@@1cptchaos if you watched the video they got an excellent recovery score - again in the entire realm of useless pointless suffering these rats get better very quickly. I'm sorry for your pain but it doesn't really apply unless you want to stay in it longer by delaying research
