I agree with your thoughts on the criticism they’re getting with this collection! Idk why people hold them to the standard of indie brands in terms of uniqueness when that’s not even what they’re trying to accomplish or how they market themselves. If anyone should be held to that standard I think it would be Mooncat because they actually go out of their way to market themselves as being different. I think they’re trying to compete with big brands like Sally Hansen and the OPI way more than with smaller indie brands.

I really didn't think this collection was my vibe but the more I see of vitamin glow and shadow lake the more they're calling to me....! Thank you for all your tomfoolery - I'm a recent subscriber and I love yourthe holo taco vids (the swatching one really helped me pick which unicorn skin to get, I'm waiting for my black friday order with lunar US)! Just a brief additional note, I don't know whether it's deliberate and if it is please ignore this, but I think there might be a typo in your points system with "diffrence" instead of difference? Regardless, thank you for your videos, they always brighten my day!
@@the.mermaid.scientist that's exactly why I went for it after seeing linry's swatches!! The glow on dark colours is gorgeous but that blue over lighter colours is also stunning 😍😍 (unlike aurora US which I think suffers from some of the nasty yellow over white)
I'd love to see Moon Lagoon compared to China Glaze Dashboard Dreamer, I think they'd be so close. I love seeing what combos you come up with when doing these dupe attempts. Also, I think CG Pearl Jammin over CG Boho Blues might be fairly close to Vitamin Glow, just based on how my own mani of Pearl Jammin over Left My Heart in Havana turned out which is a little too purple to replicate Vitamin Glow (but damn it was pretty!).

I was just going to pick up phantom call and shadow lake but then i won a giveaway and got the whole set 😂 i havent had any issues with the formula, swan song is maybe a bit on the thicker side but not unmanageable. I got good/full coverage in 2-3 coats which is normal i feel. I was genuinely suprised how much i liked the lighter shades, they're very pretty and girly (which i'm not normally drawn to)
I thought I had a stroke when you called Moon Lagoon green because it is OBVIOUSLY blue to me. Then I go on the HT website and see them describe it as "green-aqua" also. Evidently I need to get my eyes checked. 😅🤓💚💙 But honestly congrats on duping it out perfectly AND for less money!!!
Totally off topic to the video but in regards to the peach butt stickers! What if you did a lil variety pack? Halloween/christmas/etc peach butts? You could charge more but shipping weight wouldn’t really change so it might be more cost effective? Or maybe not bc idk but I’d love a variety of peach butts lol
I second contacting Holo Taco customer service with batch issues. I had batch issues with Teal No Lies & Sonic Unicorn Skin. 2 separate orders. Both times they refunded me the price of the polish, no questions asked, and I didn't even have to send the polish back.
You really duped the pink and green-aqua! Well done. I'm curious if you have a purple in your LA Colors jelly collection? Layering it over a cream might help in getting closer to the paler purples you try to dupe out? But at least you have a periwinkle now. I can't speak for the pastels because I didn't snag those, but I've found that the microshimmer in Phantom Call is *_very_* dominant in most lighting. Hard to achieve that depth of finish with layering! If you pick up Shadow Lake next year you'll find that the base is quite gray. Also the blue shimmer often shifts purple! I was surprised by that because it's not advertised that way, but looking at the HT site again, the bottle shots show it on the angle. Anyway, I appreciate how this series really makes me scrutinize the different elements of a polish!
Awesome that you got 2 perfect dupes =) I am likely to gift Moon Lagoon~ I already have Earth to Gaia, and in my lighting, the shimmers are different enough for me to justify keeping ML. And it's the only one I still had the carton for😅 Buuuuutttt I can buy it again in the future if I decide I really need it hehe
I think a lot of the disappointment in the color story comes from this following the Birthstone collection, and maybe everyone had unreasonably high hopes after that.
I'm not a huge fan of contrasting shimmer in polish, especially on pastel pinks and blues, it always reminds me of cheap plastic princess toys of the 2010s. It was an easy skip for me
I wasn’t a fan of how the collection swatched in a lot of videos, but eventually Phantom Call and Shadow Lake got me.😂 Mine seem fine and I am so relieved.🥲 Thanks for these duping videos! They’re so helpful.😊

There was definitely a batch issue for this collection. Kelli Marissa is better at application than I am and struggled, but I had no issues 😬
