+One less lonely memer Dude please stop telling everyone to sell their stuff, and go by a switch, as all the original poster was saying is he love his PS Vita, hell you don't know he might have a Switch already for all we know. the Vita is honestly not a bad system, but Sony just made some stupid mistakes with it in my book like the memory card prices, and overall cost of the system having added things like the back touch panel that rarely seems to get used in games that drives up the cost of producing the system, and for many like myself prices it out of their budget, and far as budget goes right now the Switch is well out of mine sadly, but o well that's life, and I will continue to enjoy my "NEW" 2DS XL and it's great game library.
Commodorefan64 I'm telling them that cause the vita is dead and that's a fact, I always see a bunch of people begging for 3rd party games to to come to the vita and cringy azz comments like "I love my vita
So...I've never been a fan of nintendo products or most of their games, I've played skyrim on pc enough for a lifetime, 3rd party support for the "new" "AAA" games is clearly killed from the start with the low power compared to everything else on the market (of course depending on the success of the system we will see some "meh" versions of those games on the switch, so its all still in the air). ...So tell me, why would I buy the switch? Especially since nintendo is slowly becoming the EA and Ubisoft of the industry with Season Passes, DLC, Hard dificulty locked behind a pay wall, and worst of all: censoring games (nintendo treehouse)....
Shyro Channing now buy a Nintendo switch and you'll be able to play Here's a list of switch games and upcoming ones Splatoon 2 Minecraft better together version Super Mario odesesy Metroid prime 4 Skyrim special edition Doom 2016 Wolfenstein II Rocket league Arena of valor L.a noria Fire emblem warriors Pokken tournament New HD Kirby game New yoshi game Resident evil revolutions octopath traveller Xenoblade 2 Zelda botw Mario kart 8 Fifa 2018 Nba2k 2018 Payday 2 Steep Arms ALL ON THE GO :D
I feel like this system would have been significantly more successful if Sony of America actually advertised the damn thing properly. The only ad I remember seeing was a picture of a woman with breasts on her back, which is obviously disgusting, and then they were like "guess no one cares, so let's not advertise it again ever. Also, it can play most of the best PSP games so I feel it easily beats out an unmodded PSP. I really hope Sony does make another handheld to compete with the Nintendo Switch, some minor tweaks to the Vita would have made it absolutely incredible (read: the memory cards) and I feel they might be able to pull it off
Vita 2 could be basically the EXACTLY same design with 4gb ram and latest intel tablet cpus. It would easily beat anything. Including mid range notebooks. But it would play like a PS bcs .. Actual gaming controls. also scratch protected glass and a higher res display (prolly HD or FHD)
Just putting this out here first, I am NOT a Vita fan boy, I will admit it has its problems but they are nowhere near as bad as this guy is making them out to be, if you are considering buying a vita look for other videos. The only thing I would agree with is the fact that the memory cards are stupidly expensive.
The Vita a fantastic system and IMO better than the 3ds. Just the two proper analogue sticks make it a much more ergonomic system. While i agree about it needing a extra pair of triggers, most vita games I've played don't use the rear touchpad at all (if you really want to remote play ps4 or play ps1 games there are 3rd party grips that add L2 and R2) Sony really hamstrung the system with the stupid overpriced proprietary memory cards. There are so many Vita games that don't get physical releases (especially here in NA) and there are always great digital sales on the PSN. But, if you have a lot of digital games you either have to constantly redownload games (or store them on your PC) or be like me and spend a ridiculous amount of money on a 64 gig card. I don't know why people think the vita doesn't have games because it has pretty sizable library that you would never run out of games. Granted the games on it aren't for everyone. If you only want western AAA games, the vita is not for you (though there aren't that many western games on 3ds either). It had plenty of great indie, japanese games, and JRPGs. I think the Vita will go down in history as a unsuccessful system that will become a cult classic. And remember, the vita is not the biggest failure of this generation; it still sold 2 million more than the Wii U. Must play games: FFX remaster MGS 2 & 3 remaster Persona 4 Golden The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2 Uncharted (though it does have annoying moments meant to show off the Vita's gimmicks)
@@fattiger6957 Way to pick nits. Okay, so one game in your list, one which no one cares about, is exclusive to the Vita. You got me. In the main though, you haven't made a great case for the Vita, since none of these are really unique experiences.
The VITA library is jam packed with EXCLUSIVES or semi-exclusive titles (Neptunia Rebirth?). Some were so unmissable that they are currently being released for ps4 (Danganronpa?). In the last month alone we had 5 new VITA full fledged 30+ hours titles released. Every months you have a plethora of new physical releases for VITA - surprising for a system that Sony considers "dead". For a fan of Japanese games and a collector VITA is just paradise.
There is a very easy solution to your Final Fantasy VII problem. The top right and left of the screen has touch controls and can be used to run from battle quite easily. I think the L2 and R2 for PS1 is automatically assigned to the touch screen. Overall great review your criticisms are all fair and with the button issue that should have been pointed out so you didn't have that issue.
GameKing 2thousand to the right analog similar to psp or to the touch screen you can also swipe l2 r2 to l1 r1 so if the game use l2 ans r2 more use it on the l and r button and remap the l1 r1 to any place you like i had a psp before and it worked with every ps1 game that i played without a problem i also own a vita but i still didnt play alot of ps1 games on it
I think the PS Vita is very underestimated. A fair number of Vita games can be downloaded from the Playstation store along with a good selection of PSP games. There are PS1 and PS2 games as well. Tomb Raider 1 and 2, I've got those on mine. Everybodys Golf 1 and two for the PSP and the one for the Vita. There are various YS games. Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer 1 and 2 for the PSP. Wild Arms is on there. Altogether there are 28 games on mine. A big advantage for when taking on holiday is that the games don't take up any room. The selection of games is large enough to suit whatever mood. Admittedly, I had to splash out on a 64 gb memory card, but I think quality games make it worth it, even though over priced. I have to agree about that stupid touch sensor on the back. I have managed to get mine turned off and I have reassigned what it did to buttons. There is a nice adapter that the Vita can sit in. Made by Nyko, it adds battery power so the thing lasts a lot longer. It is also comfortably designed. It feels more like a controller. I have put a screen protecter on. Some say it desensitises the screen a bit but I haven't had an issue.
that's a good find as they are usually going used for for around $140 - $160 US with no memory card, and a 16GB Sony PS Vista memory card still cost $43 US on Walmart's website.
Thanks for the Video i have ordered a VIta from Japan (aqua Blue) for my birthday this month , so it was nice to have your video. one thing i have found with the Vita is that no one i know has heard of it, Poor marketing from Sony's Part ?
I've ALWAYS bought a case for any handheld machine I've had, pretty much straight away and hardly used my device before acquiring it! I've even got one for my Gameboy Pocket, which has actually preserved the system really well, no dust in it at all 😝
I think the problem with the Vita is I've heard so little about it. Sony needed to up their marketing as all I hear about is Nintendo this and Nintendo that. Do we really need two Nintendo handhelds on the market? By the way had no idea the Vita got a Super Stardust. That is pretty cool.
If you hate the touchpad on your slim PS Vita, try playing Need for Speed Most Wanted on the original PS Vita, where the rear touchpad was the same size as the screen, could not be reassigned, and functions as track-forward and track-back for the OST. It ends up being inadvertently activated during gameplay, and resulted in me having to turn the music volume all the way down, so that I wouldn't change tracks every time I go around a turn.
Look up a digital-only game called TxK. It's a modern spiritual remake of the Atari Jaguar's Tempest 2000 from the original programmer, Jeff Minter. I find that game to be incredibly addicting...
You can map the shoulder buttons to the front and rear touch screens, mapping R2 and L2 to the front touch screen made fleeing easier in the Final Fantasy games, particularly in that first SeeD mission
Dude, seriously, if your going to show your handheld (or any home consoles) in extreme close-up, then please take the two minutes of effort it takes to clean the damn thing. Nothing worse than seeing manky fingerprints and grime plastered all over the damn thing... Other than that, great video! :)
Ummm... I've been playing Final Fantasy VIII on PSVita since last year. The L2 and R2 buttons are on the top left and right touch pad (the back of the vita) FYI. If you don't like that, maybe you can change the setting by press and hold the HOME button during the game and go to control setting. I think I've set the L2 and R2 buttons combined on the right side of the touch screen. I hope this makes you still want to play Final Fantasy VIII on PSVita. I got my Vita back in 2013 before my trip to Japan and I love every seconds of it. ^^ [EDIT] Oh wait... You did mention the touchpad and the L2 and R2 thing... You know, as for the scratched screen thing... Ummm... After I got the Vita, I got a screen protector straight away. Because I knew that if I don't do so, I might scratch it. I too travel around with my Vita. Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK... It's still fine with no scratch. ^^;
May the Vita life be long and strong . I have 2 Vita systems and also a PSTV aswell as more than 40 games, more than half physical . And only have my first Vita system since last summer (2016) xD
I until today just playing PS VIta games shooting, RPG, action, adventure and fighting. The only problem that PS Vita's problem is battery life span was weak it will dried out so easily, especially recharging while play the game was not a good idea. Too bad Sony didn't continue the project about PS Vita 2 by the next handheld generation console. I love all my consoles with care and love.
I think of my vita like that kid everyone has in their class back in grade school that could have been the valedictorian but just sleeps in class, skips assignments, and somehow manages to maintain a C just based on test scores...wasted potential.
funnily enough, I took mine to L:ithuania when I stayed there, all the way through Eastern Europe and Scandinavia to Norway with it, all the way back to England with it, then a bus to Scotland with it, Oh what a surprise, maybe I just take better care of my systems, because 3 years LATER and I still have not a mark on it. Also the controls... custom button layouts mate.
Know what really sucks about those memory cards? It's a proven fact that with just a junction cable adapter, the system works with the vastly lower priced SD Cards. Sony merely wanted a proprietary shape so they could set prices. And it screwed them over. Modern gaming eats memory cards (and HDD's) alive. So why make a unique card shape and charge a hundred-plus for the stupid things? (Meh...I don't like having a memory card dangle about freely in the wind, either. So easy to lose/damage. Looks bloody tacky.) And a very good point you have, Mr. Top Hat. Clam shell design self protects the unit from travel wear and tear. Something many smart phones are ignorant about, as well. But, meh. Got to buy that case gear. Make more money, I suppose. On a totally different topic, I ponder if you'll ever review the hidden oddity portable, the Sega Dreamcast VMU? It's like the Voltron of memory cards. Wins as a controller screen. Fails as a Game Boy wanna-be for so many reasons. One must be dedicated to love this thing.
Being proprietary gave them the excuse, but piracy was likely the biggest reason for it. The PSP was notoriously easy to mod, and piracy was rampant. They wanted to be able to control how people installed software so they couldn't easily soft-mod it. And as for the screen, it probably was a bit delicate even compared to other handhelds. Although to be fair, the DS's hinge wasn't very sturdy, and the original 3DS scratched itself on the bottom screen's edge. Nintendo had their own disign flaws. Not to mention the 2DS dropped the clam-shell design to be more 'child-proof'.
ZombieBarioth . what nintendo switch did is to combat piracy is they want you to format your sd card with nintendo kind of format before you can able to use it as a storage for games.
Don't have an issue with that in the slightest. Threw a 64 Gig SD in mine for a fraction of what a Vita version runs for. Granted, my download of Blaster Master needed an update. Wouldn't fit on said 64 Gig card... (Now, gigantic games that eat local storage alive, I do have issues with. Just kills the idea of digital only gaming.)
The Game Stampede That approach works pretty well. The problem there though is Sony already does that, the PS3 and PS4 will automatically format new drives, but in FAT32. So for Sony, its a matter of 'been there, done that'. Nintendo on the other hand are much more careful about how and from where the system loads software. Save transfers likely weren't there at launch because of that.
Great vid! I think the memory card problem is exagerated: with Sony’s Content Manager Assistent app, you can transfer your collection back and forth between your vita and pc/mac. My 16gigabite card is holding 6 vita games, 4 PS1 games, 10 PSP games and 5 neo geo/minis. When I complete a game? Delete it and transfer another one to my vita from my Mac HD. Other than your long trips away from your PC, there’s no reason to have your WHOLE collection of purchases on you at any given time.
I partially blame the lack of advertising for its failure. You had to watch the ad compilation "Sony E3 presentation 2011" to know it existed or you could follow what was happening in the gaming world. The best shot it had in marketing in Ireland and the UK was sponsoring the simpsons on sky one. Another thing is the 3ds had decent marketing behind it, so from a marketing standpoint it's no surprise that it failed. Another thing is those memory cards were the definition of overpriced for what you got in comparison with an sd card of the same storage size. I agree that it could of been designed better as a handheld. The sad thing about it is that when it came out ( in my area anyway ) people were just buying smartphones around this point, most people in my area had flip phones for years even after the iPhone came out. Probably due to the ressecion and lower end smartphones coming on the market. I love the vita but it needed AAA support and better marketing behind it to be a success.
Part of the problem with the PS Vita was the price of the system being higher then the 3DS/2DS offerings from Nintendo, prices of the games usually costing more then 3DS games, and the those damn PS Vita Memory cards as a 16GB PS Vita memory card still cost $43 US new from Walmart's website, where as a Sandisk class 10 U1 16 GB Micro SD card with adapter cost about $8 US on Walmart's website with free in store pickup, but you are right the Smart phone market did not do Sony any good, but Nintendo was able to go around that as the 2DS/3DS lineup was more kid friendly where a parent would want to give them one of those instead of a more expensive smart phone they could loose, or break with a bill to pay on it each money.
I wish when they release the next ps portable they will use micro sd or sd cards, now with real l2 r2 shoulder buttons and a bigger screen with oled, that support Netflix hulu youtube etc, and ps now
They really should just make a PlayStation Android smart phone that has a built in controller that slides out(yes I know they have done it before), decent specs like a octocore ARM CPU, 4GB of ram 16MP back camera, 8mp front camera, and 32-64GB of internal storage space that can play digital games downloaded from the PS store, streamed from PS NOW, and the Google Play store with timely Android updates at least threw Android Q or R costing no more then $300 - $350 US unlocked along with support for 128GB or larger Micro SD cards, and I think they would have a decent product that could sell with proper marketing, but they should leave stand alone handhelds to Nintendo in my opinion as no one can really seem to touch Nintendo in that space these days.
the Vita is great, now hundreds of games are upcoming (mostly jrpgs/visual novels/doujin games) about half of them are coming to west, the summon night 6, danganronpa 3, accel world vs sword art online, ys8 looks great. still the "very dead" ps vita have more and better upcoming games than the "very alive" 3ds.
I'll stick with my 2DS, and "NEW" 2DS XL(have mine preordered from GameStop) as I don't feel like paying $43 US for a 16GB PS Vita memory card, that should be no more then $8 US if it was a Micro SD card. Plus a used PS Vita on average still goes for $160 US, where as the 2DS, is $80 US NEW, $60 referbished from Nintendo's web store, and the "NEW" 2DS XL is $150 US brand new. So that just means more money in my pocket at the end of the day for games.
Commodorefan64 because the psn have great sales (games like dragon quest builders are from 5-10 euro I bought a 64gb memory card for 90euro, so I can buy tons of games for cheap. And I bought that memcard because most game are digital (the fun fact: phoenix wright for 3ds are digital only, danganronpa3 for vita will be physical)
+Commodorefan64 Do you realize you're comparing a 240p resolution plastic device to a premium, actual system with dual analogs and much better screen, and then saying the former is better? I don't care if I had a million dollars left for games, if all I could get with them is Mario games and age 3+ games, Id much better gladly spend money on the better system. The 3DS/2DS is a great system (the resolution was one bad part for me) for someone that just wants to play fun games every other day in between doing other stuff. The Vita in the other hand is great for actually dedicating time to play games for the sake of the gaming experience, not for killing time.
Got a Vita at the end of last year which is my first PS console and wanted to take a little look into the world of playstation. I liked the hilarious remake of Medievil and the Spyro trilogy was good too ( although Spyro kept moving around on his own and have to play it with the D-pad). I also have Crash Team Racing on it which was good but might have to play it on a different platform as playing it on the Vita gave my hands cramps.
So the best games for the system are either ports of Playstation 2 games or indie games you can already get on Steam? What are the other 1,396 games like?
I bought a Vita around the time of the new one's release, and I was advised by a friend to get an older model over one of the newer due to differences in the OLED screen. Mine's stayed somewhat scratch free but I will admit I got a scratch protector for it (as I do with most of my devices). As for gaming preferences, I will admit I have mostly JRPG's on there but I do also have the odd beat-em-up on there with Street Fighter x Tekken, Tekken 6 and Injustice in my collection :D As for memory cards, I will admit forking out a fair bit of cash and buying one of the Japan only 64GB memory cards. Was a hefty outlay but I've not had storage problems at all since.
I have a PS4 and Vita, use the Vita for mainly playing on my PS4 threw the vita, Sony was intended to allow you to do this with the PS3 but wanted more money from PS4 and played down this part of the Vita, so SONY from day one was hell bent in destroying it themselves competing with them selfs, god idiotic
Long story short, it really isn't. Memory cards are still expensive af. The games are still heavily geared towards japans crowd. In that the majority of games released last year and this year are visual anime novels or just...VERY heavy JRPGs. I keep my vita for dissidia and....thats.. pretty much it.
I think one of the failures of the Vita is that it got a bunch of its own entries of long-running series that didn't differentiate themselves from their console counterparts, or straight-out ports altogether. So it had its own Uncharted, CoD and AC games which were just wanna-be versions of the real thing on PS3. Sure, Nintendo put Zelda games on all its major platforms, but they were radically different depending on the quirks of the hardware. And of course the main Pokemon games have been exclusive to handheld. OTOH, much of the Vita's library is filled-out with multiplatform indie titles like La Mulana, Super Meatboy, Guacamelee, Shovel Knight, etc. So the Vita's library at a glance is a hodgepodge of console hand-me downs, multiplatform ports and a few that really needed to be done on Vita (like Tearaway and uh... help?). It comes off less as a system with its own identity than a waystation for portable versions of existing games (the Sony Waystation?).
In a way I see the Vita having a similar problem with the Wii U: it wasn’t that there were no games to play, obviously the Vita had mostly solid ports of games released on PS2 and PS3, Sly Cooper, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 HD, Persona 4: Golden, a legitimate Uncharted game and even solid ports of fighting games with Street Fighter X Tekken and Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. But that’s the core issue the games I listed were titles that were already released on PS3. For every Uncharted: Golden Abyss there was Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and Silent Hill: Book of Memories. And while the 3DS had its share of ports/remakes it made up for it with titles in Nintendo’s other series and became much more successful compared to the launch. And I don’t mean to bash anyone that has a Vita or still plays and enjoys it today, that’s great I can never take that away from you. I’m just being realistic in stories like this.
PS Vita is a magnificent handheld with some great games, I'm probably one of the few people that like it more than the 3DS. It's a real shame that Sony don't seem to give a toss about it; while it probably would have never have outsold the 3DS it still could have done a lot better if it was handled properly. Mind you, it amuses me that this 'flop' handheld still outsold and outlived the Wii U! Hopefully the Nintendo Switch will eventually start to get the kind of games the PS Vita has once it has finished. For now I will continue to enjoy my PS Vita and continue to buy games for it.
I still have and love my vita. And with the remote play support, and Hori trigger grip, it still is fantastic. Not to mention the RPGs and fighters. And the ps1 and psp game ports
You must also use a nokia flip phone as your cell phone, so you don't have to worry about scratches there either, right? Flip phones are the equivalent to DS's! Buy a dollar\pound screen protector to protect your Vita from scratches, if you can't handle it like a responsible adult.
I love my vita, and recently just got myself a psp to relive my senior year of Highschool. UMDs are intriguing to me lol. They were necessary at the time to keep the cost down on games, the tech wasn't there for affordable flash storage that large. I kind of went overboard and bought around 50 psp games off of ebay, those UMD cases get messed up very easily. The discs themselves seem to be great at least. I could have saved a ton of money just downloading the psp games to my vita, but I knew I had to have it.
Nice, been thinking about getting one recently, seem like it was generally unsupported and a wasted opportunity power wise. I think the emergence of mobile gaming at the same time hampered it.
The touch pad on the back on mine is scratched to buggery! The front screen has fared much better. The memory card was horrendously expensive. I have a 64G one (I think) and it's had me covered for the most part but the memory does fill up so bloody quick. I love my Vita however, I just wished that Sony gave it the love it deserves. Accessories are much easier to come by in Japan than here in the west so I know I'll be on the lookout to add to my Vita collection and accessories while there.Final Fantasy World is another JRPG worth having a look at but I already own the PS4 version. Should have grabbed the Vita one instead. Great shots taken in Greece matey! You really highlighted the amazing colours that place has to offer. How much did you pay that cat to walk past on queue? LOL
I love when youtube personalities puts "don't forget to like, comment and subscribe" as the second last sentence in the video. You, my good Sir, have earned a like, comment and a subscribe *click* *click* *click*
What!!??? No carry case for your systems? Every device i had got a carry case. So the system won't suffer from dust or smoke or on the go scratches. You should be carefull with your treasures as well
the ledgend of heros trails of cold steel are solid jrpgs on the vita. they have a great cast and someone will appeal to you. the npcs are also solid as you'll wanna see the little story's they have play out. There's also my favorite part the world it's self is just solid.
nice review, I love my Vita - but mostly because I hacked it with henkaku and now its a much better full featured game system. Sony really screwed up with the damn memory cards (you can get a pstv for cheaper than a memory card), and the games that rely on front and rear touch screen controls become a pain in the ass trying to play on PSTV (which otherwise fixes your complaints about R2 and L2 buttons). Now I can put backup psp and vita games on a usb drive and play them without needing the crappy memory card
Persona 4 and the MGS series are about all I play on it. I got it off of a weed dealer that I grew up with for 50 dollars lol. otherwise I never would have bought it. BUT minus the absurdly shit game lineup, it was a far superior system to the original 3ds . but that doesn't mean shit if you don't have any games worth playing
The PS Vita is one of my personal favorite consoles personally. Sure it has its flaws but it doesn’t mean it isn’t awesome!! Without a doubt my favorite PS Vita game is Gravity Rush which might be my personal favorite game of all time. (It alternates depending on my mood or day)
I bought a vita and felt like it was personally a waste of money. I prefer just to play my PSP. It has a much bigger library, has emulation and modding possibilities while only running you about 50 bucks. I can't speak on the "slim" model, but the vita also feels a bit clunky and heavy to hold compared to the psp's ergonomic design. If you just need some easy quick gaming on the go, that's what I'd personally recommend. Mod it and download all your games though; UMD's are trash.
Tea with Henkaku, the vita can do everything the psp can do with the benefit of also being a vita. You can't use online though. The vita will only solidly surpass the psp in terms of versatility when it is unsupported and a proper hack exists
It all depends on where you live, I've got a 3.60 Vita slim and an 8GB card for 70$ and the PSP 3000 with 7 UMDs costed me only 25$, both in black. In my case, the Vita has 2 main problems, the overpriced storage cards and the slow ftp transfer speed, the PSP battery dies in like 3 weeks if I don't touch it, the Vita doesn't give a damn. I've bought the PSP for the Project Diva games and played hundreds of hours on it, while the Vita was bought for the newer Project Diva and Neptunia games with the same result. I think that the reason why you bought a console is very important, if it's a certain game, you're guaranteed to have fun and consider the money well spent, if you're buying it without a real reason, the joke's on you.
Ps vita is a Frankensteins monster. But god damn sony fucking like Victor Frankenstein tried to kill it. Yet it still had potential and was really a good rival of the 3ds and it truely is an underdog console worth playing just like the psp
Advertisement was number 1 (along with memory card) I had no idea what a ps vita was until 2015 and when I saw the hate it made me want a psp instead, I caved in a bought it and no regrets (2years strong) but others maybe didn't want to take that risk
Vita would have been much better if it had a regular USB, Had 1,5gb ram, better cooling capability (simple flat cooling pipe like Razor phone for example has - MANY phones or handheld devices actually have that and that technology existed very long before vita was released.. would add a tiny bit to weight but would let the cpu run around 40% faster). 1,5 - 2GB ram instead of 512mb bcs Xperia Z was launched at the same year yet it had 2GB ram .. Meaning the technology was certainly here to put inside of it. Instead sony was bragging about how little their system needs that it only has very little ram.. wow.. I mean I'd pay 10% of the price more if it could run games like Fallout 3 which I'm confident it could on its resolution if the game was a bit optimized for the system and ran on low - mid settings considering the cpu from 2Ghz top wouldn't be on todays 400mhz but around 600-800Mhz including that cooling pipe I talked about earlier... Battery would drain probably 20-30% faster but if I could play Fallout 3 or GTA V -like game I'd fing take it. And finally. Why the heck did you need to put in your own special memmory card. You don't give us anything good that everything else has. Every phone had a micro USB ending with USB 2 everything was compatible with everything.. Heaven for everyone. Yet no we rather make you buy our cables for charging. We make you buy our memmory cards. And guess what you can't even use those cables or cards for any other of OUR products just this one... So if you were like oh I'll throw away this and buy a new one and until I don't have enough place I'll just use the old memmory card like I threw away my SONY ericsson K750i and used its memmory card in my PSP. Now fuck off buy our limited size overprized uncompatible bullshitcard... Yeah.. There was no need to push for so much money. Sony had seen an opportunity to get money on every one of your steps of using the vita and sadly it made the murder of it complete. It was an unnescesary murder of a system that could've been even greater than the legendary PSP yet it was a tiny unsuccesful money bank for SONY. Great idea. Done by a moneyhungry man. Ending up in something you know is awesome but also know it could've been so much better. With not that much things different actually.
alright listen here man, I love the 3ds and the vita as much as the next guy but the 3DS is not perfect. Im sure in some peoples cases it's not as bad, but the top screen of the 3DS can get 2 really nasty marks on the screen due to the bottom screen having protruding sides. It's very apparent on my 3ds screen, though some may not have them as bad but they are still there, lingering, waiting to disturb you and once you see it, it may never truly go away.
I seriously love my PS Vita. Probably my fav handheld ever made (v close followed by the GBA)
Now sell it and buy a Nintendo switch so you can play Skyrim on the go.
Shyro Channing now buy a Nintendo switch and you'll be able to play
Here's a list of switch games and upcoming ones

ALL ON THE GO :D
I feel like this system would have been significantly more successful if Sony of America actually advertised the damn thing properly. The only ad I remember seeing was a picture of a woman with breasts on her back, which is obviously disgusting, and then they were like "guess no one cares, so let's not advertise it again ever.
Also, it can play most of the best PSP games so I feel it easily beats out an unmodded PSP.
I really hope Sony does make another handheld to compete with the Nintendo Switch, some minor tweaks to the Vita would have made it absolutely incredible (read: the memory cards) and I feel they might be able to pull it off
Disgusting? ok SJW
Hard to market a system when a solid memory card costs 100 fucking dollars
I love the intro to this guy's videos. When he's running up the steps in Philly like Rocky...... Lol.
You got me back into handheld gaming
Just putting this out here first, I am NOT a Vita fan boy, I will admit it has its problems but they are nowhere near as bad as this guy is making them out to be, if you are considering buying a vita look for other videos.
The only thing I would agree with is the fact that the memory cards are stupidly expensive.
I love my Vita. Limited Run Games keeps my physical media fix taken care of and it even turned me on to collecting for the PSP. So much goodness!
The Vita a fantastic system and IMO better than the 3ds. Just the two proper analogue sticks make it a much more ergonomic system. While i agree about it needing a extra pair of triggers, most vita games I've played don't use the rear touchpad at all (if you really want to remote play ps4 or play ps1 games there are 3rd party grips that add L2 and R2)
Sony really hamstrung the system with the stupid overpriced proprietary memory cards.
Must play games:
FFX remaster
MGS 2 & 3 remaster
Persona 4 Golden
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2
Uncharted (though it does have annoying moments meant to show off the Vita's gimmicks)
All games that can be played elsewhere
@@TrevRockOne oh really? i didn't know Uncharted Golden Abyss is available on other platforms. Pray tell where else I can play that game?
@@fattiger6957 oh you're being sarcastic. How typical. Ehh, who needs a downgraded Vita Uncharted game anyway?
@@TrevRockOne So your first comment was false and you admit it? Maybe I wouldn't be 'typically' sarcastic if you were less dismissive in your comment.
Well said brotha!
Meh.. the vita is dead, get a Nintendo switch instead and you can play Skyrim on the go.
@@onelesslonelymemer5863 400 dollar heavy handheld with ps3 style graphics. Plus you gotta pay extra for cords and peripherals.
"The Vita offers 1400 games." Don't get me wrong, I love my Vita, but let's be honest, about 57% of those are Visual Novels.
and?
???
I barely found any visual novels on it. Mostly RPGs
Also every psp and ps1 game. ps4 remote play wherever you can get a decent connection if you own a ps4 and decent internet.
You can remap buttons on PlayStation classics by holding the ps button
Okay where would you put your L2 and R2
I am a huge fan of the Vita and I couldn't agree more. I had to get a PS TV to play a lot of the PS1 games because of the controls.
Bought a launch Vita for 80$ at a pawnshop, the guy told me he had refurbish it and it came with the card and 4 games, I'm enjoying it
that's a good find as they are usually going used for for around $140 - $160 US with no memory card, and a 16GB Sony PS Vista memory card still cost $43 US on Walmart's website.
Damian Hosking i got mine for $100 with a screen protector, hard case, grip and 2 games :)
Clicked faster than the Vita died.
(Just kidding, I love it to death. But you can't deny it got destroyed in the west.)
The Switch's success is the Vita's success...owners of both systems know the truth in this statement...especially if u owned the Vita in 2012
Thanks for the Video i have ordered a VIta from Japan (aqua Blue) for my birthday this month , so it was nice to have your video. one thing i have found with the Vita is that no one i know has heard of it, Poor marketing from Sony's Part ?
I've ALWAYS bought a case for any handheld machine I've had, pretty much straight away and hardly used my device before acquiring it! I've even got one for my Gameboy Pocket, which has actually preserved the system really well, no dust in it at all 😝
Top hat gaming man I live in kriti, hope you are enjoying your holidays in our island!!
I love TXK!
love my Vita. A must own for any RPG fan
Indeed, although the 3DS has plenty of amazing JRPGs too.
Phacteria both consoles have great RPG games
+friky -senpay Yep, the last generation handhelds were the best consoles library-wise.
i agree. I never said the 3ds didnt lol.
thespiralmatrix Yeah. Just putting that out there because... Reasons, I guess.
You can map the shoulder buttons to the front and rear touch screens, mapping R2 and L2 to the front touch screen made fleeing easier in the Final Fantasy games, particularly in that first SeeD mission
I wish you had mentioned Gravity Rush, such a good game for the system
Dude, seriously, if your going to show your handheld (or any home consoles) in extreme close-up, then please take the two minutes of effort it takes to clean the damn thing. Nothing worse than seeing manky fingerprints and grime plastered all over the damn thing... Other than that, great video! :)
Stfu
My favourite memory of the Vita was GAME offering £100 off when you traded in your 3DS in my town.
Ummm... I've been playing Final Fantasy VIII on PSVita since last year. The L2 and R2 buttons are on the top left and right touch pad (the back of the vita) FYI. If you don't like that, maybe you can change the setting by press and hold the HOME button during the game and go to control setting. I think I've set the L2 and R2 buttons combined on the right side of the touch screen. I hope this makes you still want to play Final Fantasy VIII on PSVita. I got my Vita back in 2013 before my trip to Japan and I love every seconds of it. ^^
[EDIT] Oh wait... You did mention the touchpad and the L2 and R2 thing...
You know, as for the scratched screen thing... Ummm... After I got the Vita, I got a screen protector straight away. Because I knew that if I don't do so, I might scratch it. I too travel around with my Vita. Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and the UK... It's still fine with no scratch. ^^;
Now sell that dead system and buy a Nintendo switch so you can play Skyrim on the go
My vita 1000 is a homebrew station
May the Vita life be long and strong . I have 2 Vita systems and also a PSTV aswell as more than 40 games, more than half physical . And only have my first Vita system since last summer (2016) xD
Now sell of all those dead systems and buy a Nintendo switch so you can play Skyrim on the go :)
One less lonely memer Fuck Skyrim and the bloody Switch
Gonçalo Dias lmao if Skyrim was on the vita you would go all crazy saying the vita is the best
You're a blinded Sony fanboy.
Another smashing documentary!
The vita 2 already exists tho but it was made by Nintendo
I think of my vita like that kid everyone has in their class back in grade school that could have been the valedictorian but just sleeps in class, skips assignments, and somehow manages to maintain a C just based on test scores...wasted potential.
The PS Vita comes in handy if you want to download some old PSP classics on it.
funnily enough, I took mine to L:ithuania when I stayed there, all the way through Eastern Europe and Scandinavia to Norway with it, all the way back to England with it, then a bus to Scotland with it, Oh what a surprise, maybe I just take better care of my systems, because 3 years LATER and I still have not a mark on it. Also the controls... custom button layouts mate.
I liked those annoying little UMD discs.
My favorite media format.
Looks bloody tacky.)
And a very good point you have, Mr.
The Game Stampede
That approach works pretty well.
I had the same issuse of scratching with my PSP. For me, screen scratches are one of those things I don't care about anymore.
Loved the FFX background music :D
It's awesome is you get an SD2Vita.
But then again I'm a sucker for some PSO action and I can play the majority of the series on the vita!
Other than your long trips away from your PC, there’s no reason to have your WHOLE collection of purchases on you at any given time.
i dont know how i stumbled across you but great choice in background music. love ffx and love playing it on my vita 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
1:38 Sounds like a place found in King's Quest 6.
The hardware is exquisite and I LOVE the Vita! Vita nation master race.
Hellooooooo ..the recent Rival Schools episode brought me here. Don't ask why. It was worth it. Yeeeaaaahh :)
Get a tempered glass screen protector for vita. Also get sd2vita to fix that memory card problem
I got a psVita, I remember buying it on eBay from the Tesco outlet store for £129.99 and now it’s just collecting dust... gonna play it now
Y'all gotta treat it like a niche gaming machine anime if ya will
I partially blame the lack of advertising for its failure.
I wish when they release the next ps portable they will use micro sd or sd cards, now with real l2 r2 shoulder buttons and a bigger screen with oled, that support Netflix hulu youtube etc, and ps now
The Game Stampede I agree, expect I don't want too big screen.
Dude the vita has nothing but a bunch of weeaboo games
Just get a Nintendo switch and you can play Skyrim on the go :)
I never got one, but have been interested in getting a used one at a decent price. I picked up a PSP last year and ended up really enjoying it

Long live the Vita!
John Olson it's dead as fuck
@@somerandomidioticnerd9769 Like the 3DS then eh? (wink)
@@pferreira1983 in a way
Although you forgot to mention the huge support from indie developers all and all it was another homerun. Good job Richard.
I bought a Vita around the time of the new one's release, and I was advised by a friend to get an older model over one of the newer due to differences in the OLED screen. Mine's stayed somewhat scratch free but I will admit I got a scratch protector for it (as I do with most of my devices). As for gaming preferences, I will admit I have mostly JRPG's on there but I do also have the odd beat-em-up on there with Street Fighter x Tekken, Tekken 6 and Injustice in my collection :D
As for memory cards, I will admit forking out a fair bit of cash and buying one of the Japan only 64GB memory cards. Was a hefty outlay but I've not had storage problems at all since.
What are your thoughts on the Switch?
I have a PS4 and Vita, use the Vita for mainly playing on my PS4 threw the vita, Sony was intended to allow you to do this with the PS3 but wanted more money from PS4 and played down this part of the Vita, so SONY from day one was hell bent in destroying it themselves competing with them selfs, god idiotic
In my opinion, Intro is too long.
Jolly good show my boy.
The Vita still outsold the Wii U , lol...and they were on the market at the same time
whats better is the memery cards STILL cost a ton $25 for 8 GBs.
furydeath put custom firmware on it then down grade it you can get SD to Vita adapter its much cheaper my Vita has 128 GB of memory
Were they just as expensive as GBA games or were they really cheap? Scored a Lot of PSP games for cheap?
Nice, been thinking about getting one recently, seem like it was generally unsupported and a wasted opportunity power wise. I think the emergence of mobile gaming at the same time hampered it.
Don't buy it. It's a dead system
Just get a Nintendo switch
+One less lonely memer Huge Shame. I'll get a Switch one the Metroid comes out.
LOL
I adore my Vita. Library is choice for me. I even own a couple of those Limited Run games that you picked a fight with LR about :P

the npcs are also solid as you'll wanna see the little story's they have play out.
You should do a full Final Fantasy X review.
Solidner x 2 is a top notch game on the vita. Truly a master piece.
I still have one in the box never been opened.
YES brand new.
Maybe one day or ill just decide to sell it
Could you do a review of the GPD XD?😃
Persona 4 and the MGS series are about all I play on it.
I got it off of a weed dealer that I grew up with for 50 dollars lol.
otherwise I never would have bought it.
BUT minus the absurdly shit game lineup, it was a far superior system to the original 3ds .
but that doesn't mean shit if you don't have any games worth playing
and God of war. can't forget those.
where should I can buy 1000model PS vita
The PS Vita is one of my personal favorite consoles personally. Sure it has its flaws but it doesn’t mean it isn’t awesome!!
Without a doubt my favorite PS Vita game is Gravity Rush which might be my personal favorite game of all time. (It alternates depending on my mood or day)
Loads o' Vita love here!
Sell it and get a Nintendo switch
The vita will only solidly surpass the psp in terms of versatility when it is unsupported and a proper hack exists
neonet 1 Thats true, but you also have to consider the price difference.
I think that the reason why you bought a console is very important, if it's a certain game, you're guaranteed to have fun and consider the money well spent, if you're buying it without a real reason, the joke's on you.
hacked vita is by far the best handheld , entire psp/ps1 library is natively supported + emulators, it also outsold the freaking Wii U
The Wii u didn't even sell to begin with,
The Nintendo switch is wayyyyyy better than both.
I would of bought the Vita if it used the normal SD card, that’s why I ended up buying the 3ds
Mine has recently been effected even worse than that. The paint work melted off on my new 3DS whilst playing it in the sun :(
Your complaints are duely noted but still love my vita
saw the warriors two days ago.I can dig it.
