Looks good. I love the connectivity offered by manual transmissions, but the performance of autos, especially modern ones, is undeniably better. Nice to see someone trying something new!
I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I've got a T56 in my MX-5 which is a right old lump, and have been considering swapping to a 8HP or a BMW DCT.
It's the way forward, I was all for manual, but lets be honest you wont beat a shift time of a auto, and the tech in these autos boxes are serious they are not like how they used to be back in the old days lol.
Great content mate keep it up!. As i am installing a turbo to my NC i wanted to ask you if i move the battery in the back is there any safety problem with spark or any danger? and is it affecting a lot the weight distribution?
Thanks buddy. :) No problem at all, run the ground to the body of the car, there are plenty of m8 bolt holes you can use, then run a good size battery cable to the front, I run it along the kick plate where the OEM wires run, then up through the OEM harness plug. I stripped back the OEM loom, so I had the 2 wires, one to the starter and one to the fusebox, I then cut them and joined it to the new battery cable using a butt splice connector. If you didn't want to strip back loom, the wire that goes to the OEM battery location for positive, cut right back near the fusebox and connect your new wire to that. It won't effect the car in the slightest having longer / moving the battery. I used a PC950 battery which is lighter than OEM, plus plenty of power. If anything it will help with weight distribution due to you fitting a turbo up front.
Why did you say you wish you had a heavier flywheel? I want a lighter one, but for the weight and lighter acceleration. I'm also not a mechanical guy. Thanks!
When boosted, a lightweight flywheel makes zero differences, if anything your build boost slower as less load on the engine. Also lightweight flywheels transmit more vibrations to the gearbox. Granted a lightweight flywheel the engine will rev faster when free reving etc and Rev matching can be easier.
@@Lawcore Very interesting! So how does it work, as 8hp has a torque converter instead of clutch as far as I understand? The gearbox controller can control the lockup of torque converter and make it 100% unlocked?
@@slomant From what I understand as I’ve not set mine up yet, mainly as had no reason too. It disengages the box, as the torque converter is locked above 4k anyway. It uses a 0v - 5v so it can be linear, well technically you can config it to be linear between 0-50% pedal travel and over that off / on style. But I’ve spoken to a few drifters who have it setup with the clutch & via a switch on the hydro and it works great.
Yes was wondering same thing as I am just in the process of going 8hp50 in my e36 also in process of watching the vids in your channel so you may have answered this question in a later vid, if so sorry haha.

nice to see you’re back!

Been waiting for this video to come out.
You’re my hero ❤️
What kind rpms do you think the 8hp50 can handle?
Where them videos man?!?

Silly question, but I guess this setup won't have a clutch pedal?
Well.. you can have a clutch pedal if you wanted, mainly for drifting so you can still clutch kick it / use a hydro.

@@Lawcore that's awesome! Thanks for the info 👍
FINALLY
Why you are not running the HTG GCU?
I will go into it in another video. I will explain my reasons behind it. :)
