I’m gonna be real with you chief, I don’t think she was ever intended to be a solo unit. I am also a little disappointed that the number was 7, but still, I think her intent is to be used as the carry of a 5 man team in battles using more than 5 max participants so that she can get two counters in focused encounters. And it works. Like, it REALLY fucking works. To date, it’s been my favorite team comp that I think has had the most engaging gameplay in mirror dungeons. Middle don, middle salt, nfaust, chef Ryoshu, and then your choice between shishmael or your pick of most heathcliffs as the majority of them have envy skills and bodysack is cheap and reliable. I personally like ncliff because he’s 2 star, has a lust skill and has some synergy with the team’s semi decent bleed applicantion. The team is fantastic and fun. You can very reliably get don’s counters on pretty much any turn you want to, but you also have to balance out your resources to maintain your egos and make sure that don’s hp stays topped off. Ryoshu’s red eyes open and Faust’s hex nail are both absolutely perfect for the team, and middlesalt has support in both his envy boosting, screwloose wallop, and pursuence being one of the best healing egos in the game. It’s a really nice mix of power, decision making and hype that I love.
Im not a big fan of liu ish on a envy team just due to the fact that she doesnt have any envy egos and her only envy atk is locked behind s3 making it less reliable to get at least t heathcliff while his envy is locked behind an s3 he has bodysack (thats also pretty cheap to use with the lust res problem being solved with nfaust and chef ryo
Well, you're right, but that's why I said shi ishmael and not liu ishmael. shi ishmael has an envy counter and a lust S2, the only problem is that she'll be fighting with don for heals so there's some anti-synergy.@@Sabrina_Tea

I'm pretty sure the intent of the Participant limit thing is to make up for the fact that in focused encounters with a limit of 7, the boost you gain from Resonance is also naturally hard capped. I don't know the exact math for Offense Level gain through resonance but I imagine at 8 you can a sweet spot spot so they feel the need to give you a helping hand for when you're capped at 7

I still have not managed to use her upgraded counter. Even when I do manage to get 6 envy skills, the enemies are so weak already and don't get a chance to counter them. Mersault's 4 envy count is a lot more reasonable. They could have made it like his skill 3 actually, where 4 AND 6 give bonuses. Fortunately, quequeg was a former middle member so quegcliff should give great envy support. Faust's hexnail also makes it super easy to give envy fragility and ONLY costs envy.
It's so hard for no good reason!!! In team play you not only need all envy skills to align, but also make sure she will get hit to activate it, in solo, going higher than turn 6 is a rarity!
I might be misunderstanding your take on the whole participant limit thing, but since it's essentially based on the maximum number of skill slots for a focused encounter (i.e. the maximum possible a-res chain), I think it's only done to put the passive on a level playing field with regular encounters where you can have a much longer chain, to not disincentivize using her in focused encounters. I think the reason they've put the limit there is in case they increase the max party size in the future (why they wouldn't just errata it at that point I don't know, but still). Also I agree the chain length should be lowered, in part due to the max limit in focused encounters being 7, but I think even 5 would be enough although 4 would make her extremely fun. All that said, great video!
My problem with it is, it means nothing, and they didn't even add any content that allows more sinners in canto 5. I was extremely hyped for encouraging "lower sinner count" content, only to essentially have a middle finger with "nuh uh, full party anyway"
@@axeiiyl Totally fair, I agree that style of content has untapped potential and hopefully they support it in the future, although to me since it stated party limit rather than count I didn't feel this disconnect. I would have preferred having the bonus worded as all focused encounters and changing the text if they add bigger party sizes later, but maybe they're afraid of backlash if they did that(?), but I assume that's what you mean by "it means nothing" currently (and hopefully forever, I don't want to end up with battles of 12 simultaneous sinners some day). Anyways, I see what you did there with being given the middle finger, but I think there's a chance for the Ishmael WAW ego to synergize with a 4 party setup when her 000 ID comes out, which would be a start if true ^^
I feel like little sister Don's counter is what kurokumo Rodions should have been, that way kurokumo Rodion could have had a better passive like pride owned 4 "on attacking target with bleed slash coin power +1", just something more useful then changing her counter skill.
Fun run to watch as always. I'm interested on exactly what's wrong with the Middle Don ID for you, I don't know if it's just me but I keep watching that section of the video and I don't quite get it, but maybe it's going to come up again in the future.

I know these are very nieche cases, but I thought "a solo guy" (I know how much you hate that) would be atleast willing to accept the damn possibility.
@@bagel8064 You do not want any SP gain nor loss from things you can't control, there's plenty of situations where you either want to corrode, and that sanity gain can be run ending, it's similar reason to why K corp hong lu passive is NEVER good
If there is anything that these ids have done is make me contemplate some "potential" gimicks for the other fingers like despite these current middle ids lacking a big gimick there is the minor one of "envy res matters" so it made me think of if the other parts of the hand will be focused around other sin resonance. The only ones that really make it hard to determine what sin they could focus on would be the ring and pinky cause I feel the thumb has wrath based on overall color and the index has pride based on design. But this is me just huffing copium.
The Middle ID's do have a big gimmick besides envy resonance though and that's counters and dealing more damage and having better clashes against enemies that attacked allies which fits with the whole vengeance thing they got going on. Even Queequeg Heath has a counter and envy resonance gimmick in addition to the pirate ID gimmick of poise + bleed.
