- We have watched this for years but was never able to see it in person , a huge Philly tradition we made the trip . It was a game of cat and mouse mostly all day but they came through with some action with some OG Spots!

Good to see the Philly street racing scene is still alive and kicking. I used to race those streets in SW Philly back in the 80s and 90s. We used to run on Bartram off Lindbergh before they built all those hotels and shit down there. There was nothing there. We could go sometimes for hours before the cops would show up, then it was over to Passyunk and the salvage yards. Then we'd head to the Lakes for a little partying to let things cool down then back to Bartram. As long as the Septa busses could get through we were ok but if you held them up too long they'd call the cops. Good times back then

@Liftedwhips aka#Tim I used to run a 78 Trans Am with a slightly worked 400. It was faster than new corvettes at the time. Today I run a 2018 Mustang GT, slightly modded haha. Only about 500 crank hp but that's more than that old Trans Am was putting out. I think I can still keep up with a new corvette though haha

this is living life in pursuit of happiness. The city won't allow a track to be built so here they are.
If the locals won't allow a track to be built for folks to race at legally ( and MUCH MORE safely
also) then street racing is gonna happen more and more. I love watching the cars but also worry that any number of spectators down the track can be maimed or killed in an instant if one of these cars loses control at speed. No guardrails mean that you simply cannot get out of the way in time if a car suddenly turns towards you. Unfortunately this has happened before with tragic results. The city needs to help the racers have a safe and legal place to race!
In the mid 90's we used to go down to Philly from Pottstown for street racing , a couple times them city boys came up and raced on 422 E in Sanatoga or 422 W in Stowe , good times !

This type of street racing is what makes it frowned on. Stopping traffic and racing with people standing on the streets is wjat gets people killed.

It's been like this in Philly for decades. I used to race there in the 80s and 90s. Rarely has anyone ever been injured in all this time. Although it does happen periodically. But that happens at tracks too.
Doesn’t look like a place I’d feel very safe from the 5~0 to race at personally. But hey you fellas got it done and that is all that matters I guess. Good races but crazy af doing it in daylight on that street imo!!!! Happy New Year to everyone who reads this comment!!

@@polojoe2835 but I have to admit there was some good races going down the streets. Must’ve been a big parking lot close by with trailers and trucks piled into it waiting for the racer to make their run and then haul ass onto the trailer

I do hope to visit the Philly street race at some point this year. I'm only in Lancaster County so I'm not too far away. I don't own a race car yet, but I do have 2 bad ass RC cars that are pretty fast. 1 fast monster truck and a losi drag truck. And I hear y'all do RC drags in Philly too I'd like to check out. Would be nice to make some hoodies and jackets that say members of state wide street racers. Since I love street racing and something I did as a kid. It was fun af, even tho illegal but still fun lol. I love it!! ❤️

This new spot(new to me) is wild, y’all are out in broad daylight and the cops don’t shut y’all down?!?!?! That busy road way with apartments off to the side, nobody is calling the man on y’all?!?🤔

I'm not understanding how the cops haven't been called on this. I love street racing but this was dumb making people go around and blocking the flow of traffic, take it to a street with no traffic there's several out where your at.

Keep in mind this was on a holiday weekend so traffic was extremely light.
