Great video here. Not surprising the stock version woukd be most consistent as it's the 'goldilocks' in the middle. With the 2 extremes being about 5 sw points apart that's not surprising. Great fitting tool especially once non standard lengths and grips come into play
@hurtadarryl Very True! Havnt had any fittings kits over the last 15 years where you can adjust the SW with +1" ....If +1" works with someone really well from the fitting kit, I tend to order them at the SW they were actually hitting ....Now I can actually test what's better!
@nickmillar9651 There's a bit of a trend ..higher flight and faster speed benefits from heavier and then slower speed and lower flight benefits from lighter weight .....even then, that's only a 70% correct statement ....always good to hit both in a fitting and see if flight is easier straight away for a golfer
Like the idea a lot , personally i would rather change shaft weight than head weight and im a bit odd in that i like lighter shafts in w-9i than 8-5 but still want a swingweight in irons of d0.5 throughout , i dislike a heavy head or tip weights over a couple of grms , dont get on with moi sets or amt type set ups i just find shafts create the swing and swingweight creates impact 🤷🏻♂️ . Oddly my driver once i got it perfect came out at e0.6 which scared me a bit but it works .. Shame shafts arent easier to switch about for us normally folk ..
@user_1664 Good that you know what you like 😁 Swingweight can have a big correlation with release ....which relates to speed and direction Ahhhhh Interesting contrast in the Driver!! If it works, it works 😋 Yeah it's only the demo heads ...would be cool to have that in a whole set of irons though ....similar adapter in the new Callaway hybrids coming out next year!! Looking forward to 2⁰ flat in one of those 😎
The Jumbo Max aren't too bad as they aren't miles off the normal weight of a grip ...Could be some match ups to bring back the release of the club with different weights though for sure ...Might depend on what that individual golfer is doing with release of the club and hit different weights to see what works best :)
@tacticaltruth8118 I havnt seen them online yet I think Callaway may try and hold them back from retail and be more of a tool for fittings ...but a Callaway Stockist should be able to order them direct from Callaway - Pro Shops would likely have a better component relationship than ordering through the likes of big retailers
Man I played the ai200 w the dg mid 115’s. Although my numbers were pretty good it felt like very hard work. I ended up getting fit for the pxg gen 7 p irons. I tried the same dg shafts. Again the numbers were good but felt like hard work. I changed to the kbs $ tapers which were same weight and it was waaaaay easier w same good numbers. Weighting when being fit is so important.
@suprand Sounds like a fun journey to get there ....I agree, weighting is very important! Some can tune in to different weights better than others Some of my favourite clubs have been driving irons with cut down driver shafts (broken and repurposed) super lite builds!
Not sure on that one ...the demo head may differ from a fully built club as the neck is different to allow for the adapter The Standard weight in the Apex CB is 18g instead of the 14g that's in the Apex Pro, Ai200 and Ai300 ...That could be to bring the CB overall up to the same weight as the others
Aren't the variable weights used to maintain swing weight if you put heavier or lighter grips on? I thought that was their main purpose or at least that was my assumption.
@markhattrup5494 The head weights come out with variation (for every brand) naturally ....they use the heavier ones for shorter custom fits and the lighter ones for longer custom fits to get in the ball park area ...They standardise the weighting with tipweights in the end of the shaft If they had different weights in the back of the head ....it would be very difficult to use this adjustable concept with variations in the back weights from one standard build to another standard build ... The Ai300, Ai200 and Apex Pro have 14g weights as standard and the Apex CB has 18g as standard Like in the woods, they always have the same weight in the weight ports at retail
Lol, that's the weight of my driver head which is 8.5 degrees. It's great. But you're talking about a 1 iron. I think there's one PGA player with a 1 iron in the bag.
@ip1863 That's a VERY specific request 🤭 a 1 iron is 15⁰/16⁰ and they're hard enough ... Not reliable enough to compete with when other clubs are just more helpful on a bad day The quick answer is no, unfortunately, my ideas board gets filled and then I research how active a search topic is and that's a bit quiet to make it worth doing 😇
Currently I can't find any retailers that have them readily available ...There'll be some that come out of the woodworks like eBay eventually I can order them straight from Callaway but I'd have to double check how much they are if you're struggling (UK based) I have them in my fitting kit to use in a fitting situation and order new sets with the right weights for the golfer's order
I believe we've been emailing ...I'm going to struggle to get some to the USA at a reasonable price, (If I can get them to sell individually, waiting for Callaway offices to open) - Have you tried a Callaway stockist near you?
I couldnt imagine having this extensive of a convo, all alone with a camera. It would be weird having another camera recording you talking to a camera.
If the camera wasn't turned on ...it'd be even weirder 🤣 would be odd to watch it from a side view..... Without the edits 🤣🤣🤣🤣 me stopping a part of a segment.... walking up to the camera fro dramatic affect ...then completing the sentence 🤭
Again, superbly informative.
Thanks Freddie.
@SimonH-of8ou Thank You Kindly 😎
Like the analogy. Prefer heavier heads too. For the same reason.

Great comparison. Standard or heavier is better looks like Great review

Looks like a good option if you play Jumbo Max grips
The Jumbo Max aren't too bad as they aren't miles off the normal weight of a grip ...Could be some match ups to bring back the release of the club with different weights though for sure ...Might depend on what that individual golfer is doing with release of the club and hit different weights to see what works best :)
Fantastic. Where can I get some of these weights?
@tacticaltruth8118 I havnt seen them online yet

So standard then. Would be nice if they did a silver insert to match the head.
@mickritchie1815 Hmmm yes ....that would look pretty tidy!!

how much does the 7 iron head weight without any weights?
Not sure on that one ...the demo head may differ from a fully built club as the neck is different to allow for the adapter

can u make a video hitting a 230 gram iron at 12.75 degrees of loft? see how practical or unpractical or difficult it may be.

Goldilocks would have liked these choices
@gerdamarsh Haha true!

How does this affect the swing weight? considering you cant change the length and weight of the shaft? Interesting...
@adamsmith5262
9g was C9.5
14g was D2
19g was D4.5
So looks like 0.5 SW points per g
Nice to see that change isolated 😎
