Teddy's breathiness in parts of this and other songs is so warm and beautiful without sounding too sweet. I haven't heard that in Chris's voice so far. Comparing the grit in Teddy's voice with Chris Stapleton's comes down to a matter of preference for me. I hear more power and emotion in Chris's grit or growl. Not to say Teddy doesn't have emotion in his voice. He certainly does. I just can feel the soul and emotion in Chris's voice more, like he's actually lived the songs he sings. I will continue to listen to Teddy though because his voice is amazing in its own right.

Both voices give you a different feel of this sad song. With Chris's version I feel like he's completely given up like you can hear the "I don't care" in it. In Teddy's voice you hear the sadness of the relationship ending. I personally loved this version better because they recorded it outside and the chirping of the crickets really hammer the feeling of being alone in the song.
Well of course you’d prefer stapletons voice on a Stapleton song. I think you’ll probably prefer Teddys voice on a Teddy song. I think they have similar voices but all together different styles.
