My goal this year because I bought several very expensive eye shadow palettes last year is reminding myself that it's OK to use them even if it's not a special occasion. Waking up is a special occasion so it's OK to use your best makeup whenever you want. This has been a hard thing for me in the past but this is going to be the year that I enjoy my stuff instead of saving it for later.

@Michelle-pd2fr luckily I'm only out $15 for a foundation I can't use, so I will only be buying high end foundation from now on. I'm too fair to be spending money on orange foundations.

2024 is going to be an extension of boosting my self esteem, while feeling less compelled to buy everything and anything recommended. I broke the bank and became a diamond member of Ulta in a matter of weeks after finding your channel and another similar one. I bought enough to start my own UA-cam channel, when I’m a 5th grade teacher! When I get hooked, I have tendency to go 110%! That needs to stop! Praying that I have everything I must have to get the glorious looks you have shown and can just indulge in one or two things each month. How I wish I could share the pix of my daughter with your makeup bags and lippies we gifted them for Christmas. I filled them with products you had recommended and both girls were in heaven! You have become like part of our family and we love you! Would love to meet you in the future. I’d like to be able to bounce ideas off of you and get your suggestion on things. You are such a blessing!!!!My New Year resolution is not to buy anything for personal use(makeup, fragrance,clothes), a one year no buy:) I am 71 years old and believe me when I say I have every thing I need or want for the rest of my life. For 2024, I'm going to try to be less influenced to buy things in categories that I already have a few HG products in. I spent too much $$ on things that were fine but didn't knock anything out of the park for me & I ended up back using some if my long term favs, which now includes Ravie...and I'm not just sayin it Allie...its what I reach for on the daily! Hoping for more colors soon! 🙏

I really hated trend of heavy sticked lashes about ten years ago here in Czech Republic, Europe. In Sephora told me to do it and honesly, I told them: "Sorry, but someone really want to wear this? This is not flatering at all." I felt I had to tell 😉
My goal is natural make-up, especially flawless skin. But it is nothing new fór me, I always wanted this, so, I'm not gona change a lot, but I want still improve my style 😊

LIGHTING LOOKS GREAT
I'd love to see a makeup brush breakdown but do both lux brushes and drugstore brushes and speaking of brushes Colourpop has a brow brush that I love so much! it's 3 dollars and it has been the best 3 dollars I have spent. I also use it on my eyelashes in the corner of my eyes because they are really thick and curly (yeah I know it's a humble brag) so before I go in with mascara I use the brow brush to detangle them and just make sure my lashes are combed through. it makes my lashes and my brows look so much more groomed with out a lot of extra effort. Love you Allie!!!

I love your thoughts about trends! I honestly get so bored by seeing everyone do the same thing all the time and then do it with the next "thing." Most of the time, I think they're pretty... stupid. Sorry lol i just do. I think having individuality is more inspiriing and refreshing! (I dont know much about camera and light adjusting, but I would say that your skin seems less blurred and I think that's a good thing. It shows more of the products and how they wear on your skin!)🙂

My goal is to use up all liquids and creams (minus foundation, concealer, lip gloss, and mascara). I’m soooo over them. I’m 54 (almost 55!) and still oily😢but even so, I hate the application and short shelf life.
When it is time to buy (/receive gifts 😂), then it must be a recommendation from a “best of” year (past or present), drugstore makeup kit essentials, Amazon highly rated (4.6+ stars), or holy grail status from a favorite YTer. That way I’m only buying the best once a year at the end of the year, instead of the fad of the month. (I do have a replacements only rule, but I should have enough to last the whole year.)
I’ve already been tempted, but I’m holding out for Valentine’s Day 💕 and my birthday🎁
I have holes in:
• blush (need mattes),
• eyeshadow (cool tone mattes),and
• SPF lip color (Colorescience stick and Brush On Block oil/gloss).
My other big goal is to wear makeup every day. I’ve struggled since 2020, and while embracing your own natural beauty is a great exercise, I feel much, much better all around in a full face of makeup. I tried minimal/au naturale for 3 years, but it’s time to get back to myself. 🥰

Thank you! I have struggled for years trying to find a good primer and make it work in my makeup routine. I’ve recently realized that I just don’t need a primer! To me, this is the trend I can enthusiastically eliminate. With joy and relief.
Hi Allie, just wanted to come here and say, that I'm so glad I started following you, since 2016. You have been such a positive inspiration for me, not only with your make up videos, I don't even do make up, but I take inspiration from you in building my self esteem and confidence. These days I'm quitely saving some of your videos to be inspired to do my own wedding make up one day. Thank you Allie for leading as an example on how to live a good life with positivity.
I don't use sponges anymore. They harbor a lot of bacteria and are impossible to clean. I only use brushes and clean fingertips now. I also wash my brushes every 2-3 applications because of my skin being acne-prone.

My goal this year is to get back into makeup. I literally went all of 2023 without wearing make up. If I had to count, I’m gonna say I wore it three times in total the entire year. Had a very bad bout of depression hit me and I just didn’t care. So this year my goal is to get up every day and take care of myself whether I’m going anywhere or not applying a beautiful look like you’ve just done is inspirational and I think you for Allie. ❤❤❤
I have so many skincare tools that i never use and need to. I should create a routine i can do in my beauty room instead of just standing at my sink the entire time
ATTENTION ALL "ELITE" WOMEN (ladies over 60): Allie, I am so excited! I have finally found a way to work with foundation, so that my skin actually looks good. I'm 65 and I have always struggled with face makeup. Here's my new, successful method: I use a liquid foundation (CT Flawless Filter, Haus Labs, or any other medium coverage foundation) mixed in equal parts with Westman Atelier Dewy Foundation drops. I put a small amount of each on the back of my hand and apply with a brush. What a difference it makes. A light hand does work better for us older gals. Thank you again for your wonderful videos; you are a delight to watch. BTW, I purchase another set of your Revie Beauty Effortless Lips (w/ the denim bag) to carry in my purse/bookbag... They truly are the bet lip product available. ❤❤❤
Something else you might want to try (it’s been a game changer for me!). Is mixing my foundation with a pump of my hyaluronic acid serum. It makes it more hydrating, smooth, just wears SO MUCH BETTER!
(I know someone will say that can dehydrate your skin.. please note I use medical grade skincare and hydrate and moisture before makeup application)
So I don’t have a problem with it.

And I’ve found the Koh gen do moisturizer foundation to be very post menopausal skin friendly. It feels like a cooling gel type product. I own tons of foundation but end up wearing my KGD every day because there is never a day
That I don’t want the best skin I can show up with. The tube appears small but it last so long because you don’t need much.

In 2023 my focus has been on complexions pardocts; foundation, corrector, concealer and powder, I am in my early 50's and things have changed! I have found my complexion products that work for me in the Florida heat and this years focus is going to be on more fun products like eyeshadow palettes and blushes. This year I think I am done with highlight...dewy blush YES! But sparkly highlight NO...and I loved the sparkle in 2023, I am very fickle!
For 2024 I'm just hoping to see an end to some of the more absurd and even unhealthy makeup trends, like trimming off all of the lower eyelashes or applying lip plumping gloss to the entire face. That's crazy! At my age, I'm not inclined towards following trends. I learn what looks best on me and I stick in that range. I'll always enjoy experimenting, and I love a glam look, but my emphasis truly is on maintaining really good, healthy skin as the foundation for everything.
WHAT?!! Trimming your lower Lashes and applying Lip Plumpers all over the face?! THIS IS INSANE!!!🤯😵💫 You've got to be masochist to do this to yourself. 😵
Dang I haven’t heard about folks trimming the bottom lashes/ trimming them off OR lip plumper all over the face! I wonder why no bottom lashes lol?!
@@kaylacooleybodine7138 - Apparently they think it makes their eyes look larger. I'm fine with no mascara on the bottom lashes, and I can even forgo liner or shadow on the lower lashline, but there's no way I'd ever take those pointy little scissors to my lower lashes. We have eyelashes for a reason. The whole lip plumper over the face was supposedly to reduce the appearance of pores and an early fine lines. Instead, it mostly left them with chemical burns. Crazy!

Your look is always so effortless ! The powder puff is such a soft glam look. I found that the pink powders give such a gorgeous look. The Jones Road pink shade is my favorite. It look so good and adds an extra bit to my makeup.
i'd love to see a side by side or comparison shots of crappy brushes vs good ones (especially foundation and blush), just to prove how much a good one matters
I'm SO still on the powder train too!! I just invested in the hourglass translucent powder which I have been eyeing for a while, and I set my whole face with it and my makeup has never looked better. I feel like if you have the right powder, you're golden and still can be super glowy!!!
Brushes really do make a difference. It's so important to have good brushes and if you look after them they will last years. My eyeshadow changed so much when i started using Rephr brushes and they are a great price for Japanese hand made brushes. My brush collection has grown alot over the past 4 yrs. My fave brands are Rephr, Sonia G, Chikuhodo, BK beauty, IT cosmetics, Rare Beauty has some good brushes, Hourglass. I'd like to try the Morphe x Ariel collection 😊
If I had to choose only one makeup product to put on would be mascara, so this new trend of no mascara is not for me 😅. Have a great 2024, Allie.
Brushes really do make a huge difference. My sister got me some nice brushes and I couldn’t believe what a difference they made in my makeup!!

I agree with you 100% with puffs being underrated. I started using them in 2021 for my wedding because I had read it’s better for photographs. I was so surprised by the difference it made that I never went back. I’d recommend if someone is really nervous about lipliner to get a lip primer. It doesn’t add any pigment, but it really smooths out lines and holds lipstick for a long time.

For foundation i usually dab it on my face, then use a brush to blend it out, then press it in with a sponge.
I noticed something different right away! I think this lighting is very natural looking, which is nice to get an accurate sense of what makeup looks like! Happy new year 🤍

Same girl, SAME! I’m not a trend following girl hahah. I almost stay away from the trends because I don’t wanna do what the rest of the world is doing. I’ll stick to what I like. Unless I genuinely like what the trend is. Also, I say don’t get your brows done, just be you! You haven’t done anything to them all these years, why start now haha, (I mean you totally can but I think stick to your roots)

I'm embarrassed to admit, but until I discovered beauty guru's on YT years ago I didn't own any brushes. (Abd had no clue about beauty blenders. Lol). And I have to completely agree with your sister about them being a game changer.

For many years I didn't really have to do anything to my brows. It wasn't until I got older that the tails started getting sparse. I still only get them done like once a year tho. Lol. But I do now have to use brow products.

I so agree with a brightening eyeliner on the rim of the lower eyelid. It really does make your eyes look bigger and more awake! I use the LA Girl Ultimate Eye Intense Stay Auto Liner in the shade Super Bright. I tightline my upper eyelids as well with a dark color. I do this for every makeup look no matter how simple it is, and my eyes look defined and more prominent.

My first comment! Thanks So much for talking about brushes, which is new territory for me. All my life I've only applied foundation with fingers. Not always to great results on my fair skin. I'm ready to step things up and start with a basic brush set. Same for sponges! I feel slightly dorky and behind the times regarding these tools, but your encouragement makes them more approachable. I know a lot of people use expensive brush, cleaning, shampoos and things but I find that a French milled soap lasts a long time and a silicone cleaning pad to get the cleanser deep into the Brushes works really well. One of my favorite tools is a silicone cleaning pad from the housewares section. Where are you find the dish sponges. Don’t laugh!! if you have a silicone pad from Sigma or else that’s fine too. I just really like today French milled soap because it lasts a long time and it’s affordable.
I have the BK brushes and I love them! They perform well and have stood the test of time with a lot of washing. I just started doing the one eye shadow, look and it has simplified my makeup routine.
