The Matrix: Path of Neo allows the player to participate in many of the major action scenes in the films. Most of these sequences, picked by the movie directors themselves, are taken from the first film in the series.
At the start of the game, the player is hacker Thomas Anderson, and does not possess any of the powers that the character will later discover as Neo. He has to find his way through by stealth and basic brawl. As the game continues, players learn new skills and techniques, equipping Neo for the final showdown with Agent Smith. These additional skills may be levels and in the main game.

I remember walking into GameStop back in 2011 and buying this game, but since I wasn’t allowed to play mature games, I played this and lost planet over and over again.
Now if you excuse me, I’m going to go play Path of Neo now.

I'd say it kinda does count though. Considering that's an unfinished version of UE5 they could absolutely hit that level of fidelity even with a tight budget a couple years down the road

This game was absolutely nuts. The additional material was one thing but the meta rug-pull at the end was... I don't think any other game has done anything so screwy. Fantastic.

It's crazy how far graphics have come. Still, I'd take a fun game with great controls and play value over graphics any day.
Both it and Enter the Matrix would really benefit of being made just 5-6 years later with late 2000s/ps3 era graphics. It would age far more gracefully.

Still have this :D I liked it a lot (especially the Samurai levels), but I despised and loathed the Merovingian levels.
God, I remember playing this!...I also remember loving it. Kept this disc, even after I didn't have the system to play it on (RRoD) thought might again one day, wonder what happened to it.

I like how near the end, the Wachowski Brothers pretty much confirmed Neo is a Christ figure (as opposed to another Buddha or a Lucifarian Gnostic figure as some like to claim).

You know I like to imagine the matrix is in the future of the terminator films and robotics were enslaved after the fall of skynet and then they formed the society we see in the anime and the matrix and the rest you know tho I keep the final battle of the game in matrix 3 cause it's much better

Why does this look so bad? Did you use the PS2 or XBox version because I'm quite sure this footage didn't come from the PC version.
The Matrix movie was badass but this game sucks. They should have created a new story with a brand new protagonist playing the hero. The story should be completely different from the film trilogy. Then it might had a chance of being badass thus making them even more money.

Said no one ever. Enter the Matrix sucked big time and was panned by fans and critics alike. Everyone wanted a Neo game, not some crappy errand boy sim.

well I said it at least 5 days ago and probably 20 years ago when I played them both on ps2. Yes we wanted a neo-lead game but the one we got wasn't as good as it could or should have been. From a technical gameplay pov Enter was better by far. And it had new film footage and tired into events between films. As a fan waiting for the films to release this was awesome, better than retreading ground.
And you're wrong about the ratings. Check out the metacritic scores. Critics are pretty much tied. Fans preferred Enter.
@@Darth_Benga In what way was Enter the Matrix better? Its ridiculously braindead combat or linear levels? Its buggy graphics and game-breaking glitches? Its lack of a proper physics engine which Path of Neo had (Havok)? Its ugly graphics? The awful driving sequences and on-rails shooting, where you have no control other than holding the fire button as Ghost?
Don't even get me started on the level design, sewer levels, warehouses, airports, dungeons. It's so painfully uninspired that it makes me cry. Not only are the locales aesthetically dead, but the level structure itself is horrendous, running around large empty spaces and fighting one or two braindead AI enemies at a time, then running some more, pressing a switch, running some more, rinse and repeat. That's all the game has to offer.
Enter the Matrix doesn't even have any moves. Just a few punches and kicks, some finishers and slomo moves, all of which become repetitive really fast. You don't even unlock any new moves, you're stuck with what you have from the first level apart from the ranged weapons, which lack any impact when fired upon an enemy. Enemies don't even react to your shots. Every boss fight is the exact same, even the same moves. You can't even do any wallrun attacks apart from shooting.
Sounds to me like you're on some serious buyer's remorse, or cheap drugs? Or your standards are just that low. Path of Neo is literally better in every aspect, particularly the original PS2 version. Enter the Matrix is a complete flop and an utter disappointment. You don't even play as Neo, just some nonames you have no care for. Ghost literally had a few minutes of screen time in Reloaded, while Niobe did get more, she was still merely a supporting character.
