YUP ... UAFX seem to put out some top of the line stuff lately: easy to grasp FX boxes with an excellent sound ... Me thinks compressors are not the easiest to demo ... so thanks a lot for this great in depth demo
Is the whole demo routed as parallel compression? There seems to be a lot of phasing (due to inherent DSP latency?) when the pedal is engaged, especially audible with drums. It kinda ruins the sound demo for me. Clean dry vs wet (as insert effect) could perhaps be more helpful for hearing the action of the pedal. Anyway, thanks for the walktrough, appreatiate all the insights!
At the beginning he suggests that he's possibly running the pedal on an aux send/return on the mixer. That would mean you're probably hearing the dry signal underneath the compressed version. That means there’s like a millisecond or so of delay between the two sounds being heard at the same time, causing the phase/comb-filtered sound. Seems like an extremely stupid way to demo this pedal.
I love using pedals rather than post, it gives me my sound I want rather than try and have to find it after I have recorded, with one exception, Valhalla, which does not exist in a hardware solution.
Looks / sounds nice for individual instruments - would be interested to hear how it sounds as a compressor and warming unit for the master bus for electronic music / dawless live use and as you say whether they can add in some different models that would suit that use-case better or at least add a limiter. Assume that would be accessible only via the app mind you.
This! Gone through a bunch like the Boum and Golden Master but none have given me what I wanted...this one does seem to have a bit of the Diamond Comp magic though...defo intrigued
If UA adds the ability to split the Max into 2 separate compressors, that would be killer to have the Max handle input compression, and then run the other "half" at the end of the chain in the effects loop on an amp (or Insert on a mixer).

@@adamntbk yeah, you can see in the beginning of the video the cable routing and it indeed is via AUX

Strange enough, this is encouraging me to get the Delverb with the Max. Love the videos Jack!
Can You Record With A Mic into The input of UAFX Max with the output straight into a UA Volt 176 Interface Since it has A Built in PreAmp???
yes, but you have to turn up the input/compression perhaps higher than you’d want to

Captain Lee mentioned(on the guitar channel) that UA is working on that for the next update✌🏼”dual mono mode”
@@henryjirsak6844 holy cow that’d be huge
Seems like a nice guy. Now it's off to find a video on compression.
Lmaooo
I don't think he even touched that attack knob.
Loved it until I saw the app 😩
My thoughts exactly.
350 pricey
transients lost 😢
That pedal sounds better bypassed...
Why? Because as usual, he has no clue what he's doing.
says more about you than him, you have 5 subs and zero content.
you* have no clue what hes doing
@@lukebussey5218 he's* which proves you don't either.
@@DankePlace doesnt make any sense but go off i guess
