  • Dr. Steve Lawson has had an inappropriate relationship with a woman outside of his marriage and has stepped down, I address this tragedy and five my thoughts on this.

    Sad to see this happen,
    1- I know that no one is perfect,
    2- that preachers are held to a higher standard
    3- I will never justify the action/sin in any situation.
    4- My prayers for him and his family.
    Said this, I want to expose not the Pastor in this matter but the fallacy of his calvinistic theology. If calvinism is true then he didn’t do nothing wrong, because the (calvinistic god) in his sovereign power caused/predestined all his actions including sin. He should have never been removed because he is just a man and can’t stop (the calvinistic god) will, who didn’t give him any other choice but to do it. Maybe this can open, not only his eyes but the many who follow this fallacy and come to the realization that what he preaches is not the real Gospel. Calvinism is a hipocrisy, they preach a (calvinistic god) who is responsible for all their actions but then punish those who supposedly sin like if their actions came from their own decisions. Pure hipocrisy and lie not the real Gospel.

    I thought about joining his church but I noticed that reformed churches don’t do much evangelism. The local baptist church is always evangelizing around town and they teach biblical doctrine so we went there instead. I’m saddened for all of the people who were under his care. Let’s pray for his family and the church.🙏🏼

      @Romans6_23 thanks for the comment and view. Reformed churches are fine (Luther's reformation) it's John Calvin's "Institutes of the Christian Religion" that Lawson, Bauchum, MacArthur, Piper endorse that is the issue. 🙏

      Agree. I was a mender of the Reformed church for 32 yrs.
      Because they hone in on the obsession of God choose people unconditionally there is logically no reason to evangelize

    You are right on point brother. Dr. Lawson actually blocked me on X because I called out his statements about people who don't believe in the reformed definition of God's sovereignty are essentially an atheist.

      I'm all for the reformation by Luther. I'm not for the teachings of John Calvin and the 5 points of TULIP and God decreeing evil for His glory. It's downright an atrocious depiction of God's character and disservice to the church.

    He doesn’t believe in God. He is careful not to get caught by his wife because she is real. But he can sin right in front of a supposedly omnipotent God? Of course he preaches we are all sinners even after we’re supposedly saved from sin. So if they’re all sinners, why pick on just him? What a mixed up bunch. The Light comes into the world but men prefer the darkness because of their evil deeds.

    Not a 5 point calvinist, but do you deny that the murder of Jesus, the most wicked thing ever, was predetermined to happen by God? If you grant that, then you cannot claim that there is any moral dilemma with Him predetermining other evil things. Curious to hear your thoughts if you have time. FYI, not a calvinist, but see some things in it I think are true to Scripture.

      The murder was not the purpose of God, but the death for mankind to have a savior is the good news and the purpose. The devil enjoyed seeing the Romans/Pharisees crucifying Jesus. However, God took on flesh (John 1:14) and came and dwelt among us to show us how to live and to die for mankind. God knew what He had to do. A perfect sacrifice had to be made, so he stepped in and filled that need. God continuously reaches out to the world all throughout the bible and the people reject him, ignore him, blaspheme him, worship false idols, etc. God means well, but it is us mankind who are unfaithful. God doesn't decree evil things for He is not evil but perfect. God does not receive glory from any form of evil. God didn't predetermine the evil from each one of his afflicters, rather He knew what they would do in response to His purpose. Why? Cause John says the children of this world are the devil. The devil and the sin nature are against God. Look what Paul did.

      @asureguidetolove8903 This is a descriptive statement, not a prescriptive statement. Peter and John are stating that despite the people's evil intentions, they still speak God's will in boldness (v.29).
      Acts 3:18 states,
      18 But the things which God previously announced by the mouths of all the prophets, that His Christ would suffer, He has fulfilled in this way.
      They crucifixion, the harsh treatment, was common in those days. Jesus was crucified with two thieves. Christ prophecy was fulfilled as the Prophets spoke about the death of Christ many years before His arrival. Again, Luke (the author) is saying that Peter and John are using a descriptive statement. Crucifixion was common back then.
      God bore that as well. He died in our place. That isn't immoral, but a suffering servant who planned to die for us. What immoral acts are you seeking to state that God decreed to mankind?

      @asureguidetolove8903 furthermore, God has prestined that Jesus would die in that matter, because He knew what would happen to Him. He wasn't controlling their hands to abuse him, He just knew what they would do.

      God's foreknowledge of all events does not make Him the causal agent of all events (see Jeremiah 19:5 for one of many examples)

      I see his kind preach and point fingers whilst doing the same things. I don't trust calvanists or protestant pastors for the most part. John MacArthur would be another example. ​@@ChristianJames559

    You are correct. The TULIP is false doctrine. "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind," 1 Corinthians 6:9

    Lawson's fall has NOTHING to do with belief in Calvinism and more than Semi-Pelagianism does on the other side of the fence. It's about Lawson's heart.

      Yeah, but in his biblical worldview, God has predetermined every outcome and since he is one of God's "elected" from the foundations of the earth, God has chosen this for him. John Calvin states, “Men do nothing save at the secret instigation of God, and do not discuss and deliberate on anything but what he has previously decreed with himself, and brings to pass by his secret direction.”
      Also,
      “Hence we maintain that, by his providence, not heaven and earth and inanimate creatures only, but also the counsels and wills of men are so governed as to move exactly in the course which he has destined.”
      You are what you feed your mind, so God is to blame for his falling. That's what Calvinism states from the founders mouth. That's why I reject it. It has to do with Lawsons heart and his choice to follow John Calvin's false teachings.

      Yep. Well said CJ. This unbiblical theology has caused doubt & fatalism. It is antithetical to so much of scripture.
      "Individuals are born doomed from the womb to a certain death and are to glorify Him (God) by their destruction" - John Calvin... compare that with Luke 9:56 & John 3:17

      Essentially. I'm currently taking Greek and Hebrew in Seminary. Use language tools and learn how to do word studies. With today's technology you sure can, you just have to have the will and the resources.
