  • Today Brandon shows us how to install a Brembo big brake kit by JQ Werks for a BMW E92 M3. He sourced the best option for retrofit larger calipers, drilled & slotted rotors, stainless steel brake lines, and custom made adapters to fit them without changing the spindles or wheel hub. This entire BBK is affordable, easy to install and performs very well!
    Don’t forget to bleed the brake fluid and bed the pads when you’re finished. Thanks for watching! Subscribe for more BMW mods coming soon (Angel eyes, supercharger, roll cage, bucket seats, etc).

    To those who are skeptical about purchasing this kit, I have confirmed with the seller that the calipers are used 17Z (L&R) front and rear calipers sourced from Germany and rebuilt. The calipers are stamped with "17ZL" , "17ZR" and "Made in Italy". The rotors are custom built in Los Angeles, CA to fit E9x M3's and the pads are genuine Brembo pads.
    As for the rotors bases, brake lines and brackets - they are from China. Brackets are made of steel and will be revised so that you will not have to burr your spindles like I had to on mine. After a 250 mile drive, the brake lines do not have any leaks.
    This kit was also tested on the track with an E92 M3 and an Alfa Romeo 4C for 4 years with no issues according to the seller.
    Good luck to those taking on the installation themselves, please feel free to reach out to me for any questions!

      Good to know… I would say the added value is the bracket by itself along with the rotos. There is plenty of 17Z on ebay (used in old Porsches, WVs and Audis)… but the difficult stuff is in machining the brackets: a machinist will charge around USD 1000 to make them from scratch. The thing I will be concerned are the rotors. Do you know if the seller will give you the contact of thar shop? Will you have to purchase from him later? Another question I would ask is some technical stuff (I am more interested in performance than looks): what about the brake bias? Would the contact patch was calculated? Was the brake performance measured?

    • @BrandonandMel
      @BrandonandMel 2 роки тому +1

      @@redzone5655 The rotors are made by the sellers friend who’s an engineer in LA. These are all good questions for people that want to use this setup for performance/track. I would contact the seller on Instagram. If you send me a pm I can send you his account name.

    Damn! What a huge difference! Definitely a great upgrade that makes the driving experience SO much better. An experience that can be enjoyed for as long as you own the car too. Great job Brandon and all of you that jumped in to help! That looked like it took quite a few hours and was a tiring job, but well worth it imo. As always, great detailed tutorial! It's nice to know what kind of custom cutting and modding you need to do beforehand. Those are the kinds of surprises that you don't like to encounter. Price on that brake kit was great! 👍

    • @Sals_Garage
      @Sals_Garage  2 роки тому +3

      Hey! You're right! The brakes feel much better and look so aggressive. BMW definitely should have had these on the M3 from the start instead of the weak single piston brakes. The job was time consuming due to Brandon being one of the first to test out this kit so some modification was needed, but thanks to this video the next person can hopefully have an easier time. And yes I agree, the price is perfect for a Brembo kit this good.

    Great content. I see you are very knowledgeable and brave to do the change in the street 😂. I would ask what about the custom rotors? Will the owner have problems sourcing them down the roard? I see the kit is very affordable, Would you say it is looks or performance the final result? There is too much positive and negative criticism in the web. I would say a before and after breaking from 70 to 0 could show a real improvement (same pads, tyres and rotors). The E92 M3 is already a classic (I mean classic as old, because it cannot keep with the kids anymore) the owner will find that the room for improvement is very short… and to make it supercharged… well you need first to change the rod bearings and you will be depreciating the car: of course is your money. But, given that is a classic… wouldnt it make more sense preserving it stock as it was intended to be? No matter what you do it is an old car… accepting it is part of life. Looking forward to see more content!
