About Drum Beats Online:
Drum Beats Online is a website that helps you become a better drummer. The website is full of drum lessons, performance tracks (drumless play along songs,) merchandise, and more! I'm constantly striving to make Drum Beats Online not only an educational place for drummers, but also a fun place for drummers to grow and stretch themselves. I'd highly encourage you to check out the website, I really think you'll like what you see!
Like most drummers ive owned ot of pedals. When I bought the Mapex falcon it blew me away. Smooth as silk and I can play it all night and never feel fatigued.
Pedals are one of the hardest decisions.
+Larry Tate agreed!
I’m actually between the same two pedals as you. I own both and debate which to use. Lol. Are you happy with your choice with the falcons still? I’m leaning towards going with them, they feel like they might have a bit more control than the Dw plus the heal plate is more comfortable.
you said it best
the falcon are some great pedals very smooth to me better then the dw I own both
Make a series of studio update videos!
I like it!
The great thing about the mapex falcons is that you can convert it to direct drive though
Falcon is amazing!!!! I prefer over the 9000s, but that is my personal opinion.
+Samuel Essary I agree!
Just do some more vlogs too, those are always fun to see what people are up to even if it's not always drum related.
Thanks for the input Luke! Thats good to know.
luke nelson yeah some more vlogs!! It doesn't have to be drumming and you can film while you travel.
I have falcons and I love them
Same!
can you do a video in how to tune a drum to make it sound good
Heck yeah I can.
Thanks!
Dreaming of shadows ? We’re going to get through this week and we have a little time for you to get done with your house thanks
Great to see a vid from you Gabe! Can't wait to start learning from your amazing videos. Good luck with the new place!!
Thank you!!
Drum Beats Online is your meinl byzance 20 inch crash cracked? And did you get a new China?
Awesome double pedal and you can convert it to two single pedals like I did when I got another bass drum
I ordered a DW 9000 and a Tama Speed Cobra. I’ve always wanted a 9000 but when I played a Speed Cobra I was blown away at the feel, Speed and power. So we’ll see how that goes. The 9000 seems better built but the Speed Cobra is significantly cheaper.
Yeah I hear you dude!
I hope you be well! Cheers!! 👍
Thanks!
Practice pad videos are always cool! Honestly I think blogs and updates of the building process of the studio would be awesome to see! I don't know if other people would get annoyed of it but I would love to see that personally! Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see the finished product of all the content
Thanks so much for your input Anthony! Thats really good to know!
Hey Gabe I have been using a DW 9000 for about 8 years now and it has never let me down ... if it ever dies on me i will get another one without hesitation ...
great stuff!! really looking forward to watch you building your studio!! I'm hoping you get really detailed in the construction and gear you put into that awesome space! love watching your channel evolve! keep it up!
Thanks so much Dustin! I'll be sure to keep you guys all updated!
I used a DW9000 single pedal for 11 years until the delta hinge broke on me for the second time. I ended up getting the DW Mfg MDD pedal. It's a fricken monster!
What about TRICK?
glad to see you back on UA-cam! can't wait for your studio to be all done!
Me neither man!!
With my Falcon double pedals, as you mentioned about the left pedal not being as responsive as the right side, this is an issue that I've dealt with since I bought mine when they first came out.
No matter what combinations of adjustments, cams, chain or strap, grease and lube, techniques or anything else, can I make the left as responsive as the right side pedal. Now, if I remove the connector shaft, both are pretty equal then, so my guess it's as much to do with the connector shaft than anything. But no matter what I try to do, such as extending the shaft out or in, or moving the pedal closer or further away, it makes little difference there either. I am a speed type player and enjoy frequent double strokes, but I can't do it as well on the left side without working to hard at it. But, the plus of these pedals, are that they are smooth and quiet. Only as of late, that there is a slight bit of play in the shaft when I moved the left side pedal way back to forward (wide motion). They've served me well so far. For an all around good reliable pedal, these are worth the money. Mapex stuff IS worth the money, compared to what the other companies are putting out there and are charging for it. The drums, from any manufacturer at any price is going to sound about the same to me, because I'll always tension and / or tune the heads my way. Why spend $6 G's or more for something that will last and perform about the same.
Get a Trick shaft
@@vernon7896 I found a remedy because of an issue right under my nose. I thought I had at least somewhat lubricated the joints on each side of the shaft. Turns out, because of that little rubber condom thingy on each one, it concealed the fact, that their was no lubrication that got in there. On one side was some old dried grease from the factory. One part a one joint was frozen solid. So I used WD-40 to clean them off, reapplied again, wiped off, then used some suspension fluid that was laying around. It made a huge difference.
Gabe! it is so great to see you again, man!! much love and luck in your new house!
Hey Pablo!! Thanks so much!!
Hi Gabe, i just wanted to say i love your videos and lessons and i wish you luck on your new house and studio
Thank you Eddie! You rock.
Should've tried Speed Cobras or Eliminator Redlines
+Sal Rosas I don't disagree!
Drum Beats Online yeah both are incredible pedals don't know which to get but I'm probably gonna end up getting the Speed Cobra
Drum Beats Online I have a standard older mapex kick pedal it works lol
Xx808OverdriveXx 5240 I need an upgrade desperately I have a pdp pedal that cost like $50 and the feel is terrible but I'll be getting a Eliminator Redline or Speed Cobra Soon
Sal Rosas cool I love my mapex lol probably because it's the only pedal I have ever used
Gabe is back haha, good to see you man.
Tackle your time man, I know moving is not a simple think, and it is even harder when your have to build your studio
Good to hear from you!! Yeah it's definitely making life a little bit nuts.
You should strip the paint and reseal and repaint the wood if it's still usable. Then use gutters to get the water away.
This is a dream studio, dude! The garage has a lot potential to be awesome;) Looking forward to the result.
I know man I can't wait!! I'm very fortunate that's for sure.
A durabilidade do falcon é boa? Pois aqui no Brasil o falcon custa menosa da metade de um dw 9000.Então se a diferença é pequena compensa mais.
you looked like you wanted to cry when you told us bout the dirt on the wall. bahahaha. epic.
Who would have known I would miss a UA-camr so much. This video was more than needed for me Lolol. I almost Texted you like 30x the past week asking you to just release something Lolol. This was a great vid and I love Jeff randle too haha
Haha I'm sorry for the delay buddy. As you can see I'm not working with much right now!
Drum Beats Online totally man, even though you are enclosed in a small room for recording. Just uploading some small videos of you playing a groove would be cool to see. It would defiantly help knowing you can't do much until the studio is done. Also I love the vlogs. You could do biweekly ones just to update us :)
Congrats on the new studio space...looks like it will be awesome!
Thanks man!
you're welcome!
I'd be awesome if you could make a video on the Mapex P400TW Storm Double Pedals????
thanks for the upload, when the studio is set up could you make a lesson on switching from matched grip to traditional grip and vice versa while playing?
You're very welcome! That's a great idea, I'm no master of traditional grip though!
thanks for replying man, I understand, would have been useful though
Love my Mapex Falcon. Surprised me how good it was!
Yeah it's pretty great!
Awesome new rooms.. good luck with the work there!
Thank you!
Whoa! I was so thrown off at the beginning of the video because the tree shadow made it look like you grew your hair out super emo style! Anyway... Best of luck setting up your studio! I can already see that it's gonna be SICK!
Haha that would be so awesome if I was gone for a month and came back with crazy long hair and a beard or something. Thanks dude, I'll have to have you come out and jam when it's all finished!
Place looks great! It's a house --no more apartments for you. Still in Detroit? The studio's bones look strong. Are you building it by yourself? Groovy drumming ~
the studio will be amazing when its complete looking forward to seeing it
I can't wait either!!
Looks like you are going to have one sweet setup when it's all done. Congrats!
On future lessons, for me, I'd love to see some new interesting ideas into looping grooves together for fun and practicing, maybe? That would be cool. I'm always looking for some new ideas into fills. Perhaps some lessons on styles of different rock/metal drumming? Like doom, thrash, power and prog and the like? Some examples of typical groove transfers and time signatures in heavier music like say Black Sabbath type of drumming necessities? I've always, personally, wanted to focus on that type of rock drumming. Thanks, man! :) I look forward to you getting in there soon and teaching us all some more!
Thanks Steve, I'm excited about it! Thanks for your input, thats good to know!
Great vid gabe! looking forward for what soon to come:) Quick question, could you do a tutorial on your favourite double bass fills? i am asking this as i am currently trying yo improve my double bass skills. Thank you:)
Thanks Zak! I'll have to think about what my favorite one is, thanks for the suggestion!
Cool studio!! Once you put up some drywall insulate it and paint the walls it will be really cool!! I which I could just have one of those pedals!! But I have learned to be happy with what I got!!
Thanks man! Yeah I can't wait to get it running! Haha I feel you, I've been using the same pedals for forever!!
I have a Tama single pedal not sure which model!! But I have a double pedal from a brand which is not too big Xdrums it does the trick and for the price it was a good choice for me!! Looking forward to what you are going make out of the garage studio!!
“I know I normally don’t play with double bass pedals but...”
*starts touring with I Prevail after telling them he is totally comfortable using double bass pedals*
Seriously tho I’m starting to really get into your chancel and it’s so cool to see how you’ve developed as a player and your musical journey in general
Hahaha! Well remember how I bought a double pedal right when I got off the phone with them? These are the ones I got! So that phone call happened only days before making this video.
So glad you are enjoying the videos my friend!
Drum Beats Online haha nice one😂
So it's been a while, what conclusions have you made about these two pedals? I'd really like to get some feedback from your experience, since I'm looking for some new double pedals for myself ...
+Andrés Gómez Dueñas I ended up going with the mapex falcons!
Which type of in ear monitors do you use?😀
Shure SE 215's
good to see you back, miss your good spirits,no pun intended.
Thanks Paul!
good luck with your studio! looks great so far! keep it up!😉 👍
Thanks so much!
Ты крутой, продолжай снимать видео!
for a pad video, can you do something like fats single strokes in traditional if you're used to it
I would, but I'm really bad at traditional grip!
Drum Beats Online its ok I don't mind that much!
Do you get paid if I click on ad links? Like the 5 sec commercials. I ask cuz if you do then imma click every one haha
dude this pedal comparison is incomplete without Tama Speed cobra or iron cobra. you gotta check em out too
+Pema Dorjee Bhutia Fair enough!
Drum Beats Online lemme know how you find it, if you check em out. A small tip since im an avid cobra user. Speed cobras are really good and has the punch and can go to higher speeds with ease but then i recently shifed to iron cobras because it has a shorter pedalboard which decreases punch a bit but then increases way more control over the articulations.
Best of luck
I have owned a pair of demon drives and elimanators, currently own the new version of speed cobras. but I want to just to dw 9000's
Dang, you know whats up!
thanks my G
ive got a mapex p750a
I think we need to know what Gabe's favorite genre's of music are to be honest
I use a DW 9000 double I like it
Nice!
I used to have DW 9000 before I bogut jt my Tama speed Cobras. When I first bought the dw's, the Factory settings are trash IMO. Def not my favorite setting. U gotta play around with the cam to make it feel lighter and I definitly didn't like the shortness of the beater length in the factory setting. I like the feel and throw and power of my beaters high as they can go and that also adds to power. But personally the speed Cobras blow the dw's out of the water. No matter what setting, I just tweaked it a tad bit and it was the perfect pedal for me.
Thats good to know! Thanks for the feedback Andy!
that studio will look dope when finished! btw what happened to the last studio you had?
+Noe Armendariz It's been finished for quite awhile! Check out my newer videos! Check out the "The Drum Life" playlist on my channel. I talk about my old studio right before I left.
Drum Beats Online Hahaha my bad for some reason I got a notification for it, I was so confused, like what happened to the studio he just finished
+Noe Armendariz Oh weird! Haha no hopefully I won't be leaving the new studio anytime soon.
You should have brought a Tama speed cobra
The mapex falcon wins for me
i am just starting with double bass. i did get myself a tama speed cobra, any tips on how to start with it? btw your videos are great, keep making them.
That's awesome! I like the "climbing the stairs" practice technique where you go from quarter notes, to 8th, to 8th note triplets, to 16th, to 16th note triplets using the double pedal. Other than that, just playing along to music that has double kick in it helps a lot!
Ok cool. I'll check out that exercise. Thanks for replying.
Man I love the sound of your drums, are you just using the room mic in this?
Thanks man! No I've got a few others as well.
i like how you bought 2 pedal sets, just to test out wich you like the most, when both set costs more than my whole kit :-D
You've gotta work those coupons! And I'll definitely be returning one of them.
Drum Beats Online i think its awesome that you actually read/respond to your comments! A lot of youtubers dont care enough to do that, so thanks man :-)
btw im 13 and its my first non E-kit, so thats why its so cheap :-D
What hihats are you using here?
15" K Zildjians
Keep it coming!
You got it!
What did you use to record your kit? I don't see any mics on the drums, but it sounds really good.
There are a few mics here and there, I think they are just blocked by the cymbals.
how do you record your videos ?
He cannot play double bass :) Its funny, as he is realy good and I am sure he will catch up very fast, but right now you can aczually here that he has never played such pedal for a longer time and still he is very skellied at all the rest:)
Oh
are there any windows in studio (garage) ??
Nope! I'm hoping to put one upstairs though.
You look very tired, take a rest!😅 Nice to see you again!
There's too much to do!
lol I just finished the electric in my new garage
+Xx808OverdriveXx 5240 👌🏽👌🏽
Drum Beats Online I'm gonna turn this extra room in my house into a studio
Nice studio progress man! How much did it cost and will cost approx. to build it? I'm asking since I'm planning to do it in the future too! :)
Thanks Robert! Well it all depends on what you have to do to it/ what the layout of the place is. For example, I have to put a whole heating and cooling system in mine which is going to be stupid expensive. And if you have any type of attic space, the insulation will be more expensive than you think. Haha so its been a lot of ups and downs. Overall drywall is pretty cheap, insulation is in the middle depending on what you do with it. And it all depends on how big your space is!
Drum Beats Online Well It would be around the same space as the 2nd floor in your studio (maybe a bit bigger), heating/cooling system would be nice for my space too, but I don't think that's that necessary. So my goal is to kinda "sound proof" it (since it's a garage attached to the house), have good acoustics in the room and just basic stuff like that. Would I cut it with around 3,000 $ or that's not enough?
Without a heating and cooling system I think you could make it work for that price for sure!
Drum Beats Online Thank You for replying! Keep up the good work! :)
If sound proof is your main goal, check out this stuff called Roxul safe n sound. I insulated my basement with it and it made a massive difference upstairs, it’s a lil pricey though and two layers for best results with a 1 inch air space between too if possible.
it will be cool if you played drums outside
That's always a good time!
Hey man, do you still have ur pdp concept maple wood hoop kit?
It's actually an Ayotte kit. Yup I'm still rocking it, check out some of the newer videos!
sweet as man, that kit is a beast
sand hats?
I wish! 15" K Zildjians
old school! hey man K's are not a bad alternative :)
No definitely not! They are really great.
Falcon
Dw 9000 for the w
Love your studio and been following Jeff since his first vid! Great drummer, like yourself. Check him out :) greets from Germany
Thanks so much! Yeah Jeff is the man!!
Tama speed Cobras
pratice pad work
dude, did you break your meinl cymbal? (right crash) so sad
I actually have an 18" K on there right now and that's the one that's cracked. Haha but I actually did crack the meinl as well. They are both pretty dang old!
Drum Beats Online bummer
When I get my DW 9000 pedal, the beater was heavier than what I was used to, but after adjusting the spring tension and beater angle, it felt perfect! Hope yours turn out well too!
Yeah I might need to do some adjusting. It's a super tough call to make!
you look like Matt McGuire
👍👌💪
been way too long indeed
The dw is way louder
You can put dw beaters in the falcon And than they’re same volume,
second
first
rudiments using pillows
That's always a good thing!
the falcon. always the falcon
thanks my G
You got it!
