Great info and reminder of important information 😊👍🏻. Too many people still take dogs out in the heat 😢. My older 🐶 doesn’t like the heat so we just do a short walk in the evening once it’s cooler which is good for me as well as I struggle if it’s too hot as well 🥵
Very useful reminder of important information Scott 👍🏻 we just have the garden door open all day so our 🐶 just nips out for a pee and then we will do a short walk in the evening once the temperature has reduced 🐶❤
Thank❤You for the great tips Dr.Scott, l hope dog parents are taking note. I would like to add a tip of my own. If you are on the 8th floor like me, you have a built-in "pool".-- A few inches of cool water in a tub is a nice cool down to sit in. Or soak a towel with very cold water, wring well, lay it on a floor like a cooling mat. I hope someone finds these useful!👍😃🐾🌈☮️🇨🇦
I also was informed by my local vet to purchase clear non flavored Pedialyte and make ice cubes. Put a few in their water bowl and the cubes will dissolve nicely in their water giving them necessary electrolytes when it is extremely hot. I used this for my cats when I lived in Southern California.
Thanks Dr. Scott, great knowledge to have with me. We use the forest actively, morning walks and evening walks, but fortunately 😉 the summer has not been as hot this year as last year, but there will be more summers 🌞💓🇳🇴
Hi dr Scott I'm from Canada.......are the symptoms the same for cats ?thanks for your time......and for helping all the animals.......love watching your videos........
My son’s BIL left a baby Frenchie out too long and didn’t treat it correctly and he passed. I had a cat with heat stroke, I did what Dr Scott said, not even knowing at the time what to do and he lived. It is a serious issues where we live with not natural shade. All our dogs stay in their respective homes ( 5 homes and 12 dogs and now a pig) during the summer here in north Texas.
You forgot to mention most importantly that it is a life threatening situation. I’m an RVT in an emergency department and I saw many dogs die from heat stroke.
I recently passed out walking near my home from heat exhaustion. When I was better everyone laughed at me because I had water for my dog in my pack, but none for myself. 😂
My pocket bully , has very huge issues with walking longer walks when it's hot, especially like it is now in UK. He is panting very fast and sometimes he is almost tripping on his legs. But he is so stubborn he just needs to walk so I did buy him a neck fan and I did teach him to wear it. It's helping little bit 🤷
Had to run AC for my Bouvier all summer, even after groomings. Calm walks after dark, and before sunrise
Thank you for caring for animals plus telling people how to care for their animals
Thank you Dr. Scott, loved the comment "no dog has ever died from having a lazy day" 😄
So pleased to have found you Dr Scott! I will really enjoy your channel! :)
I know but thank you dr Scott
Evaporative cooling also doesn't work if a dog is submerged. Such great advice in this video!
Thanks Doc Scott❤.
JO JO IN VT 💞🇺🇲

Please remember that tarmac and concrete get very hot when baking in the sun. If you can't walk barefoot, neither can your dog!
❤
What abt cats?
The same I would have thought
