I had a weird obsession with these zones that seemed so pointless that nobody really cared about. They always just seemed so mysterious and interesting to me.
@@skinnyandshort7108 seriously, one of the best zones imo too. Centaurs, satyrs, demons, the kodo graveyard, and I don't remember what else... (I'll have to try a classic realm eventually, or pay attention to this whole vid, and I'll remember, hehe) Maraudon; how could I forget that one... Must've done it a thousand times, lol. And the music, so many of my fav tracks play here.
It was here that I had my first nerdgasm experience when I encountered Rexxar, treading casually along a path with his giant bear companion Misha. I bowed & saluted him as I departed. It was one of the most magical moment in wow for me.
I remember leveling my night elf druid here. I was out in the middle of nowhere killing stuff and 2:20 started. I can't describe how I felt in that moment but I always get goosebumps when I hear that music. All these years on and I am still moved by that particular track.
The Barrens track :) Just brilliant. Most of the horde players are loving this track. But like you, I first heard it while playing Alliance - so it has another meaning. It's associated with Desolace or Stonetalon Mountains. Would have been nice to know the author (it's not signed by anyone). But my guess it's Jason Hayes & Derek Duke's work. Thank you for sharing this with us ❤ Meisio
the track name is A Call to Arms, and its in the first charts of the world of warcraft classic soundtrack album, and yeah its signed to be Jason Hayes and Glenn Stafford. Actually its the only time we here this famous barrens theme in soundtrack album, and its much different from barrens version
Probably the most uneventful and backward of all the zones in vanilla, and yet one of my favourite zones to hang out and level up mid 30. It seems so calm and full of history. The ground is gray and harassed by the elements, and the sky is sickly green with a dim flaring hope like the colour of bronze. I enjoyed running around here completely to myself most of the time, gaining strength before leaving for STV and its constant skirmishes.

I was there around 2005 doing my warlock class quests with some WoW only friends. I still remember like this was a day ago. Fuck I miss this :(
First time I cast banish I felt like a god :D then I took an elite as a pet, he did some insane damage. wlock was just too much fun. Once I met a old friend there, and we just hanged out, the zone never was much popular yet it was fun to explore, since the attention to detail was amazing.
one of the most saddest place in all of WOW, you could bring 50 people and still feel lonely.... they did a good job on the athmosphere, poor Drexxar whos stuck there
yesssssss- I leveled here on my druid in vanilla and spent a considerable amount of time here. Although it was tough considering I had no idea what I was doing with my talents and spec, I made it through here. Nigel's point was always getting bombarded by horde!
All the memories... i remember back in 2007, riding here with my night elf warrior at lvl 40, and my NEW mount. Man, those were the times. Thank you for this kind of videos! Blast from the past.
Back in the day never really did that much in old Desolace. I just used it to get my dwarf hunter to Feralas which I personally have always preferred. But still in the fairly short time I stayed there I oftentimes would just build campfires and hang out in the middle of this empty gray desert to get that survivalist feeling as a hunter.
I played in this zone for a while just to gather quests leading into Scarlet Monastery. It definitely held some fascination for me. Felt different from the other zones and had a really cool vibe to it. I also remember one time when three of us were questing here together and our third guy randomly attacked some centaurs and we all yelled at him "dude we were neutral with them!" and gosh we were such nerds.
I remember coming from Stonetalon Mountains with my Undeath Rogue to Desolace, always looking for an Alliance-enemy. The feeling lvling and questing is something else. The story behind every quest... that feeling of hating the enemy, not literally. What a great time. Cant compare with nowadays WoW.
I had hate for the enemy but also respect. I remember after killing (very hard) one warlock, together with my friend, I waited for him to spawn back so we can /bow and /salute for his skills.
I think the story and atmosphere crafting of pre-activision blizzard was well above what it is now. You might even say that for a brief time, they captured lightning in a bottle.
I'll tell you an important thing. What you and I had in warcraft is in the past. We have lived this moment, and that is its value. and if you suddenly feel sad from nostalgia, then just remember. It happened and happened in your life! Smile and live in the present! It will save you from longing for warcraft, but it will also save you from longing in life. After all, our life is the same game with unlimited possibilities! All that remains for you is to live in the present moment and appreciate it! ❤🩹
Have you played (classic) since when you made this comment? :p I want to but don't want either, it's a bit complicated... I mean, it's not just that it's grindy, tho that plays a huge role. Or, if you can't play because of how time-consuming it is, you can use Meisio's stream sometimes, to always carry part of the atmosphere with you xD
Anyone else think Desolace has to be one of, if not THE most boring areas in the whole Vanilla WoW game? At least from a Horde viewpoint. Even the music is the same as the Barrens..?
Desolace is mysterious and unexplored, very interesting because very few people have been there. I love being there, when I see other people I become very happy cus anything can happen over there, we are all alone in this unknown forgotten area
Yeah, besides being one of the many unfinished zones in Vanilla, it also laked anything relevant for the endgame, like a Dungeon, raid or even some enemies you needed to farm for Raiding. Literally was at the end of the world, close to no quests, even longer travelling than in other zones and despice other unfinished zones like Ashzara it also did not really look pleasing. I found Plaguelands and Ashazara interesting, even Winterspring (which all were unfinished in terms of quests or just content they dropped) but they all had something that gave you a reason to visit once or twice a week. Desolace literally was the less important zone in complete vanilla iirc.
There are certainly some filler zones in the game. Desolace might be regarded as one of it. It has a story regarding the apparition of the Centaurus race but not very relevant in the end game indeed. I've enjoyed it regardless :) Salutations :)
I like the fact that the world has zones which are, let's say, self-contained and don't play much role in the big picture. It makes the world feel more real and alive, and more fun to explore.

me too, in almost like a deep way
This was one of my favorite zones, not sure why people for the most part didnt like it. Loved this zone.
Me too
Couldn’t agree more!

Desolace was modeled after the amazon rainforest

Lol it did seem familiar to the barrens

Ever just go sit in a certain area and turn head phones up and just chill and decompress ? This is the best .
oh happiest times ...want them back :)
This and the howling fjord is pure bliss.
Oh, quite appart one from another. But Classics nonetheless :-)
Thank you for watching Jamal!

At the moment I am working at Redridge movie. Coming next ;)
Thanks for your requests!

It made me smile because I used to do the same but in Winterspring / Darkshore :)
Thank you for sharing Jake.
Thank you for uploading these great ambience videos. I also loved Darkshore. I've always loved rain and its such a pretty zone.
I spend so much time here, looting shellfish traps, hopping to find the "Big Iron Fishing Pole". (And I did)
29:16 is 🔥🔥
thank you

I always liked this zone and the whole journey to it from the Alliance side.
Getting to it was epic, and then passing through it to Feralas, the best.
28:55 is the best
thank u .. i was looking for this1 .. pls some1 give me the name.
please!!
@@MoeinHs the track’s name is “Thunder Bluff Walking 3”.
Desolace was one of my secret favorite zones. I liked the atmospehere there but hate the quests..
Desolace is the place that Azeroth forgot
Name is all the more fitting then!
We no longer get this amazing music quality in WoW and that bothers me a lot
I think the story and atmosphere crafting of pre-activision blizzard was well above what it is now. You might even say that for a brief time, they captured lightning in a bottle.
Aw man. You can't do this to me.
Desolace was not all time favorite, but it was a nice zone to adventure. I am happy that's the "spot" for you :)
@@Meisio Thank you. My two spots were Desolace (spent the most time questing there) and Stranglethorn around and below Booty Bay.
Nice :-) For me, the end zones: Winterspring and Silithus.
Loved this area although many people did not like it.

Dude once again coming through!!!!!
6:09 is amazing
Reminds me of warcraft 3
I never bothered much with southern kalimdor… but damn if they didn’t always have good music
06:09
The best!
You have a great job here
at 47:30 what is this?
Shadowprey Village, troll village - quest hub for the Horde.
If you are referring to the song, well... it's a track used in Troll places in Vanilla.
Τhe game is chance in BFA
Sigh! How I miss wow

I loved Desolace the feeling and look of it.
Desolace nails what it was meant to. Very isolated feeling.

In my opinion, Desolace is amongst the most irrelevant zones in whole azeroth. Alongside with some of the mid-parts of the Eastern Kingdoms.
