What a treat, just in time to watch another of your interesting, exciting, pleasant sounding and knowledgeable presentations. The tech is just so exciting these days, can’t wait for the America’s Cup to see how fast we humans can sail now! Thanks for all the information and inspiration and Fair sailing it you, SkipRay, Able Marine, Kenmare, Kerry, Ireland.
Awesome video, super cool to see and hear details of the cup build up. It would be awesome (if you could swing it) to see videos like this for some of the other teams. Between you and Mozzy Sails we are being treated to some excellent build up coverage this cup cycle - keep it up! Cheers
Great to hear about aspects not discussed in other AC commentaries yet are hugely significant. It really is not just the best sailors out on the water that win the Cup but an entire host of people behind the scenes on and offshore committed to working together to develop the best boat for the next America's Cup event. 👍
Reading what's said is good. The fluid power and coordination of Will and ?Chris at the grinder was memorable. Nice the way we've been shown the characters of sailors of all boats, new and existing.
All I could think of was “Waterloo Sunset” when I read the title….. And I haven’t even watched the video yet - ahhhh UA-cam, home of the vacuous 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻⛵️⛵️⛵️
Thanks Matt and Ray, two professionals at work, great questions and answers. Its starting to get interesting but Barcalona is a different beast compared to the Hauraki Gulf, big fast boats in big swells , that could go sideways in the blink of an eye. Loved the NZL 20 story, I used to live just up the road from her and never realised she was just sitting there all those years ;-)
Very odd watching boats unsure what point of sail they are on. E.g. @9:30, broad reach gybe, I assumed they would be tacking close to wind, bamboozled me for a minute until you work out TWA.
You're not the only person to evidently have trouble with that. Whoever edited this vid made a faux pas at 5:55 which was supposed to show a tack, whereas on screen the boat executes a gybe (the bow turns away from the wind)
@@Gottenhimfella good spot. On a flat track with no discernible movement of boom, jib clew or sail shape, sailing at 18deg AWA everywhere, this is becoming tricky.
The speed of evolution of a class with digital tech has to be shocking when only two cuts in, how close to pinnacle is this class. It took decades to get the 12m to its pinnacle.
Over the last 100 plus years of the Americas Cup, the Americans never bothered about every team being the same, having the same boats, it's come a long way,and smacks of people complaining about one team winning it all the time. Like awarding every kid a medal, even if they came last.
Sorry I’ve lost interest in Emirates Team New Zealand. Ever since the decision was made to defend the cup in Barcelona! Change their name to Emirates Team Spain🇪🇸 😉
Ray is a legend
Super impressed with Ray Davies, he really has a great handle on what it takes to be a winner. Great video, very interesting and insightful.
Love your work … such an awesome in-depth look !

What an awesome opportunity. Such cool tech.
What a great discussion. An understanding of the inner team processes was awesome.
Great interview, Ray is awesome.
By the way, what a fantastic interview that was and we even got into the cockpit with ye. SpaceX has a long way to go to be so exiciting! !!

The Kinks are one of my favorite groups!

Excellent in-depth look. Shame the 75 isnt able to have the same scrutiny.
Thanks for this video and your reporting in general. I've been wondering what the helmsmen see in the cockpit. Is it the same for AC75?
Man even the steering wheel is a work of art.
Is there a similar video like this, an in-the-cockpit one, for the AC75?
Nice work

Kiwi common sense engineering.
Our ingenuity once again.
Why show a jibe when talking tacking
Maybe they should try using PS2 joystick. I heard they can save you a few dollars in the short run.
Only one Yeah-Nah in the whole interview! Must be media training....
God save The Kinks.
I like this but I wish the Americas cup stayed traditional sailing.
Auckland is full of ex Americas Cup sailors.
Who'da thought you can pull a 180 on a dime in a yacht
Don't give him all the details 😅
Omg tnz win. Game over. We win. Go away everybody else. 😅😮😢😊😂❤😢😮😅😊😅😮😢🎉😂❤
