It’s a shame really, because just like with Alejandro they’re both Excellent characters brought to life by talented actors but in a terrible story. Imagine if the story focused more on the line between traditional military & PMC. War being scarier & more corrupt than people think it is, how these wars start & where money goes. I have that Graves & Alejandro were wasted, they both could have a series on their own. Alejandro & Delta Force vs the Cartels, Graves & his PMCs as top dollar high security guards
I really loved how you could see Graves slowly becoming more and more suspicious, almost. You can tell he is absolutely pissed that Alejandro knows Valeria, and when he "betrays" them, he seems really bitter about it, and like he's finally drawn enough connection to be mad about it. I truly believe we should go deeper into Graves's story, because he's an awesome character, and id be sad if they just kill him off cause he's my favorite.
Could make a theory of Graves being the son of Russell Adler. Great grandson of Sadie Adler from rdr2. Sadie is a widowed gunslinger. Turned bounty hunter and mercenary. Maybe had a son or something. Kept the Adler name. Then her son kept the Adler surname and later had a kid named Russell. Sadie wouldn’t live to see a grandkid born. Russell is the black ops Cold War main character. Good and antagonist character. He would have a child. But maybe the events of black ops 6 would have him his child and Philip would use his mother’s surname. Graves. To keep his real surname a secret. Something like that. The Adler/Graves family tree. Maybe the big twist is that Philip got a twin brother and Russell knew to split the twins from each other. One is Philip graves, a ceo of shadow company. And the other is Warren Kole. See there. Lawyer who is as charming as Saul Goodman.
Ever seen the first Avengers movie where Iron Man said "That man's playing Galaga! Thought we wouldn't notice, but we did" Yeah that was Warren, the man playing Galaga. Saying this cause it's not the only time any of the Modern Warfare cast also started in a Marvel Project.
Warren really is talented and so is many others his look also has that charismatic military leader Down and has the menace alongside the charm to make a great role in whatever he’s In, even in the terminal list he plays fbi agents so well
You forgot another great role he played in uncharted 4 where he also played the villain Rafe Adler (another great performance by Warren), I honestly would love to see him in more stuff cause he has the talent I also think we should all pretend MW3 2023 didn’t happen Okay I just saw your comment Bren and don’t worry about it
I was made aware of this actor back in 2018 because I saw a post talking about “did Galaga guy get snapped by Thanos?” It got me curious, so I looked up “who’s galaga guy in Avengers 2012?” It’s this man, the second coolest dude named Cole(even though it’s Kole), first being Cole Hauser.
He carried half the game and made a hated villain one of the fan favourites of the rebooted franchise. They nailed his casting. Activision needs to make a Shadow Company spin-off.
Commander graves is and forever will be my goat and my favorite character in call of duty He’s not a bad guy just following orders And I hope he gets a second shot (Btw he’s now available in the cod store )
The actor is just a perfect choice for a character like graves, the first scene he appears I was like “I can see how this guy owns and runs a PMC with so many people in it, I would be infected by his charisma as well, and he would be paying me as well so a win-win”.
When I saw Graves in the teaser photos of MW2022, I thought he will play by Josh Brolin because of the some resemblance but, I searched who will be playing Graves and it was the Galaga guys in The Avengers (2012). Anyway, Warren killed the role of Commander Graves and I wish he will return in MW4 and give him more screen time or gameplay of him in the campaign. 🤞 More power to your channel, Branwolf! Can I request of the same content but with Barry Sloane? Thanks, man!
Graves' fans when he slaughtered through a foreign village, a war crime btw, in pursuit of Soap and Ghosts: nah, he's so cute though - we should forgive him. 👉🥺👈
Graves is the best character i know in COD series, what your thoughts on Komandeer MaakaarOv......and can you make video about Nomad from the Ghost recon series
I’m not gonna lie, the first time I found out who Graves’ actor was, I saw Warren and immediately thought- Why does this guy look like the American version of Eddie Redmayne? (😂) But, back onto the topic, Warren Kole is a very good actor, so now he got me both hooked on playing Call of Duty and watching Yellowjackets even though I don’t like drama TV shows. I love Graves, but it’s so hard to figure out if he’s in the wrong or not at this point, I was so confused while playing MW3 I almost had a headache trying to process what the hell just happened.
The problem with the betrayal was just how contrived it was. You could tell the writers were trying to pay homage to the original betrayal without understanding why it works: Motivation. OG Shepherd throughout the game displays a jingoistic nature so when we confront him at the end, you kinda see where he’s coming from. Not only that but it was far more emotional. He kills Ghost and Roach in gameplay and we literally watch him torch our bodies as the music swells. In the Reboot, Graves and Shepherd’s motivation is to keep it a secret that they made a mistake. Fine, but why not bring Price and Laswell into the fold earlier? They’re on a first name basis. Shepherd pulls some strings and helps arrange 141. He should know Price is willing to kill a child for in front of his father for national security. You really think he’s gonna have a problem with you accidentally making a screw up when your original intent was to help one of your closest allies? The entire betrayal pulls down Shepherd and Graves and makes them look incompetent as opposed to the original where Makarov had to relinquish his fight with Price and deal with Shepherd first. Now personally, I really dislike that Soap and Price take down the entire Shadow HQ by themself. It really plays into Hollywood slop and is a far cry from Cod 4. But regardless the main villain practically says “yeah this guy’s too dangerous, we’ll help you out.”
Graves is that perfect demonstration of balanced edginess. Similar to raiden, his appearance and design is edgy af but his personality and voice is the opposite. Graves sounds like that exact person who speaks softly but ultimately dangerous with his goal and actions. He threatened valeria with just a couple of words demonstrating his power and also his willingness to go completely unconventional to get what he wants.

Yeah very very true... they could deliver even better more powerful performance if the writing and story was much better and more focused

for sure
one of the few good things that IW did in MW2 was introducing new characters like Graves, Valeria and Alejando

I didn’t even notice until I read this comment. It’s not a big deal lol
I'm going to make my father watch uncharted with me and aggressively point that out until he sends me away.
Mw3 was supposed to be a cartel focused game with Alejandro & los voquers working alongside 141 but was scrapped.
That's too bad. That would have made the game much better than it was
