  • Heathfield Camp was situated in Honiton, Devon, where many Ugandan Asians were sent by the British Government. From here, many were resettled in different parts of the UK, and some even stayed in Honiton and the surrounding areas.
Ugandan Journeys is a three-series set of video programmes documenting the stories of British volunteers who aided the Asian migrants forced to leave Uganda by Idi Amin in 1972/3. The programmes further include testimonies from residents and people who worked in the camps.
This oral history project - British Ugandan Asians at 50 (BUA50.ORG) - is the production of the India Overseas Trust with the support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is an integral part of British volunteering heritage and an extraordinary historical episode that helped shape
    modern Britain's diversity.
