This is hands down my favorite video from MPGOMATIC. Thanks Dan! It was the one that had me scrambling for a test drive. About two months after this video I drove one. Ridiculous. It's fast. Once you hit 1500 RPM it blasts off and it's totally unexpected. I wasn't quite sure how to modulate the gas pedal, since I wasn't used to all of that torque and boost. I didn't get to test drive it as much as I wanted to. You can smoothly go forward in first and just idle out of a parking lot which is excellent for low-speed maneuvers. Don't even worry about high-speeds, the Fiesta nails everything. It's a feel good car. More buyers should spring for the SFE Ecoboost 1.0. If they don't know how to drive a stick, they should. I have a black 2014 SFE hatchback. I've had it for a month now and it's been great. I live about 30mins from the beach here in Florida. Every time I go down to the beach during the weekend I always get around 49-50mpg doing about 55-60mph. Great little car!
I testdrove Fiesta's 3-cylinder on the interstate, and it averaged 70 on the highway. That's not quite as good as my Honda Insight's 3-cylinder, but still impressive .
I would rather have this Fiesta or Focus 1.0 than a hybrid. They are 5000 dollars cheaper, plus they don't have expensive battery replacement. I spend 1500 on a new battery for my Prius .

My Mirage is averaging 57 mpg stock with no a/c all highway, 45 mpg around town. I have gotten closer to 60mpg on flat level interstate, I think I can get more with better roads and more practice.
Getting my 1.0l 100ps ecoboost this week. Can't wait! Be quite a change from my bmw e46 330 ci. Was never out the petrol station!!! Really impressed by build and quality of fords now. Engine sounds great and still has a little spark even though only 1l.
I've been researching this car since they released it in the States. You're the first real video I've seen on it! Very impressive MPGs. I just recently started a new job, and I drive about 500-750 miles a week on my personal vehicle, which is a 2001 2.4L I4 Tacoma. I only get about 20mpg, I'm still making money, but it's dreadful. I have to fill up every day or two. But I've had the truck for 12 years and it's paid for. I've been researching new cars for the next 6-12 months looking at buying one, and I've really been interested in this Fiesta. Only downside about the Fiesta SFE is that I've never owned a manual, I did drive one in Driver's Ed. about 20 years ago though! Haha. I'd have to learn all over again...
Driving a manual is like riding a bicycle. You'll pick it right up, demoncleaner80! =) Payments can be a tough nut (nothing better than owning outright!), but the amount you'll save on gas will be substantial. At 500-750 miles per week, with gas at $4 per gallon, you could save $50-75 per week (going from 20 to 40 MPG). That's huge ... enough to keep the truck for weekends!
MPGomatic I'd probably trade/sell the truck, it's still in good condition with only 85k miles. If I need a pickup to move something, I could borrow my father's down the road :) Still, a new car payment is more than paying for gas on this truck... so I'm just waiting to get financially sound to buy a new vehicle. I'm excited about it and my girlfriend is tired of me obsessing over car reviews online, but I find the research fun.
I've got a ford escape 1.6 ecoboost and I've noticed the optimal speed to drive for Best fuel efficiency is around 55-60 mph. My best run was 41 mpg at 55 mph around 20k miles . now I got 35k miles on it and it runs as good as it did when brand new. I've been driving mostly local in NYC the whole time where the roads are destroyed and the car has held up way better than my father's Honda accord .I'm impressed with the built quality and quietness in the cabin.
Awesome video! I'd been looking at the ford fiesta for a while. It's nice that you did a review/test on this car. Now I really wanna get one, lol. I don't really know much about all the technical things you spoke about, but I see that you like the car, lol. That's nice to know. :-)
Hi ThatRandomJazz! It's a fun one to drive. :) I'll have a full review of the Fiesta out in the next week or so ... it will run in the Autobytel channel.
I just ordered a silver 2015 yesterday...my son is turning 16 in 2 months and he's getting my 2005 Mustang GT and I am planning to retire in 18 months and go work out at Disney World which will be about a 90 mile round trip for me...thus the 3 cyl....all the reviews I've seen have been amazing ...but this is the first one that tracked MPG...almost 50 mpg with the A/C on, that will be me, flat here in Florida but a/c most of the months....
I'm looking forward to driving the Elio, catchatyou! They've been trotting one around to the big media outlets, but haven't knocked on my door yet. I would like to do an extended video on the company/trike ... it's very cool.
That's a really good idea to put the iPhone in the little hooded screen area. It's probably a good thing that they didn't include myfordtouch on the ecoboost trim since it would be distracting. I'm definitely buying the fiesta with the 1.0L. It's an engineering marvel that should be more popular. I think if Ford started making commercials bragging about the non-hybrid 60 MPG, people will start paying attention.
I'm not sure if a bigger phone would fit well, but the iPhone 4s fit there really well ... almost like it was designed specifically to place a phone there. It did flop over on sharp turns. I want to design a Rubber Phone Biscuit Stand to hold the phone in place. :) 60 MPG is only possible on the right roads, under the right conditions, when driven carefully. The Fiesta needs an OBDII feedback device to help drivers keep it in the zone.
Klutch at 70 or 80mph, the car runs at 3k. I have one and this transmission is made for this engine. going down i65 from Greenwood Indiana to Kentucky border, I saw 60mpg doing 55-60 mph. due to construction
BTW - there has been some doubt on the Internets whether or not the trip computer is actually being truthful with the MPG displayed on the Fords. For what it is worth, there is at least one other video with the Ford Fiesta 1.0 where the owner manually calculates MPGs. His findings were that the trip computer and his calculations were off by less than .2 MPG.
George Ojeda When folks ask if trip computers are accurate, my standard answer is "more or less ... sometimes more, sometimes less" ... =) With so many variables (especially at the pump), there's always play in the numbers. The best way to keep track is over time. I've tracked every fill on my Ain't Fuelin' project car (a.k.a. Slambo) with Fuelly.com.
Indeed sir. I made my remark because the other video in question also involved a Fiesta SFE. You got better numbers though, even though his 38 MPG for the tankful is nothing to sneeze at. There is also another video involving a Focus (non SFE) and he returned something like 47 MPG on his trip which involved steady 45 mph cruising.
I still haven't driven the Focus ST, maxxtruck9906, but I've spent a bunch of time in the Fiesta ST. It's one of my favorite cars out right now. So much fun to drive ...
In Britain, the EcoBoost powered Fiesta has an officially tested, combined figure of 65.7mpg [54.7mpg US]. The EPA's official combined figure is 36mpg [43.2mpg UK], which is much closer to what the average driver is attaining. My brother has an EcoBoost Fiesta and he's averaging 46.6mpg [38.8mpg US]. I think this demonstrates just how broken the European system of testing fuel economy actually is, and how the US and the EPA are much closer to the mark. Perhaps we should be taking a leaf out of your book.
BoeingvsAirbus1578 I'm in agreement with you, he's not that bothered however...I work out his MPG solely for my own interest. He usually displays that attitude that's typical of the British public, complain about high fuel prices, whilst continuing to drive in an inefficient way. The first thing he does after starting the engine - even before the seatbelt - is to press the button disabling the stop/start system. Having said that, he has got over 50mpg on quite a few occasions, with a high of 54.67mpg.
one issue is that 93 octane (US rating, 97.4 in European rating), the gasoline/petrol used to find the MPG and performance figures on this model, is very hard to find in the US. the vast majority of places only offer up to 91 (95.3 European rating, in my state CA we have some of the strictest emissions laws in the world, gas stations aren't legally allowed to sell higher than 91). one reason for the discrepancy may be that the US EPA overhauled its mpg rating system just a few years ago, and every car lost a few mpg.
juffurey I wonder if the tune is different on the European car. They have different octane and different emissions requirements. But, the reason for the difference in MPG's is US Galoon vs. Imperial Gallon. Higher octane doesn't mean more power.
Absolutely great video as usual Dan. Do you still got your Audi A3 TDI? I've got an A6 TDI, love it. Is it hard for you to tell both MPG and liters/kilometer as we use in Sweden? I would love that, much easier you know. Thanks for absolut lovely videos, have a great day :-)
Many thanks for the kind words, Andy K! TDIs are awesome. I only had the A3 TDI on a loan from Audi for a week's time to review. I would have to do the math to convert to the liters/kilometers. That might be a handy to add to the description.
I got mine to 48MPG with really good economic driving (no harsh accelerations to get up to speed etc) also, when going down hills, don't use the throttle as it'll just stay at the same speed anyway. I can get mine up to 55.5MPG on the motorway with cruise control enabled.
Lol my average is only 37mpg but that is mostly around town also my stop start doesn't work. Also it is a new engine so if it's breaking in that might decrease mpg
Lets remember that there is a grand upcharge to get that engine so you need t drive it for a while just to break even- That engine seems to be very complicated so looking to see LONG TERM reliability, that means over 100,000 miles
My Mitsubishi Mirage does the same mpg, with A/C on (automatic) and with automatic transmission (2 gears plus CVT). It has less hp though. But I do not need more. Gets me above the speed limit too quickly.
I've been able to get up to 46MPG in a 2013 Focus sedan automatic on the highway. I still want one of these. Nice review, but a quick view of the car would be nice.
Nice job & thanks for the feedback! :) The Focus does well when driven with a light foot. I will be posting a full review in the Autobytel channel. I wanted to put this out separately, as it didn't fit into Autobytel's format.
MPGomatic I do drive it like a Hybrid. Very light foot. But on the highway, it can be driven enthusiastically between 60-68mph. My overall MPG since new is 37. At 16000 total miles.
Thanks, skyman2002! I try to take note of the RPMs at cruising speed. Unfortunately, I don't have the # for 68-70, but it spins at just over 2000 (2100?) at 60 MPH.
adding to MPG's comment, you have to downshift to get past 3500 rpm to spool up the turbo and since fifth gear is such a tall gear, going up hills is not going to happen and you'll need to downshift.
TFiPW FWIW, I never felt the need to downshift while on the Interstate, plenty of hills, but nothing huge to climb. I might put in the beg for another 1.0L to do extended testing ...
you think focus 1.0L will get same results? Thinking about buying one but all these other people are giving it bad mpgs. I bet hypermiling it should get close to 50mpg.
+Jose Querido FOCUS 1.0 should get the same MPG as the Fiesta if you hold constant velocity. However in the city the extra weight of the Focus will burn more gas .
Impressive numbers, but don't forget that the trip computer is making the MPG look a bit nicer than it really is.... For best comparison I'd recommend doing at least 3 full tanks of daily driving, including the cold start. My 2016 diesel Fiesta averages 51 US MPG (4.6l/100km), with an average speed of about 55mph. This includes mostly "highway" driving, doing the speed limits of 62 and 74mph, with normal driving. The trip computer on my Fiesta usually indicates 0.2km/100km less.
Cool! Thanks for the details and suggestion! While I'd like to do three tank comparison tests, the manufacturers usually send the media fleet cars out on one-week loans. Three tanks in one week would be a lot of driving. =)
I bought one of these little beasts earlier this year, for a song and a dance. It’s a hoot to drive, but I want an electric car that I can fuel with electricity from solar panels on my roof.
Solid on all counts. The Fiesta is my favorite of all the subcompacts when it comes to ride & handling, dwelty1970 ... it feels beefy (for being such a small car). The little 1.0L has smooth power delivery throughout the band and not loud on the highway ... I like it much better than the base/non-turbo engine. (The ST turbo is *wicked* good.) Seats are good, too ... but that's always subjective, since they fit different folks different ways.
I wish they would make this available on all trim levels. It's not going to see many takers as a middle level manual gearbox-only option. Might be nice to see it find its way into the Focus in the US as well.
I have a hunch that they're testing the waters this year, svenskfox ... and that they'll roll the engine out to other trim levels next year. The automatic gearbox is the big question. Not sure what might bolt up ...
True. Not sure it'll ever make it to the Focus for the US market (maybe a bit too slow) but a wider range of Ecoboost models of different displacements would be nice in the Focus and Fiesta. They've certainly made a lot of progress on that front with most of their other models!
svenskfox Maybe not right away, but not too far down the line. Light-weighting and aerodynamics will allow these tiny engines to be more and more common over time. It's remarkable that the Mustang will have an EcoBoost Four. I always wanted one of the old Mustang SVOs just for oddities sake. :)
Many thanks, Jose! Putting out my own audio books or doing voiceover work? I've written a bunch of books over the years, but have never published anything on audio. I'd be open to the work if it came my way.
Our '04 civic hybrid really looks like old technology at this point...a few years ago, when it was still working, my dad was barely doing 45 mpg on the long island expressway at about 70mph...the car did have 185k+ miles at the time and a small flaw in aerodynamics as the hood didn't close all the way but I believe the real fault is the cv transmission which is not that great for good mpg's at those speeds...and possibly the aging IMA battery now I think of it
***** Get a gig working for one of the media outlets? I've met a bunch of guys over the years that tripped into it through their college internships, some were in Journalism programs, others in Marketing.
I agree with you that this MPG is epic; however when I drive from San Marcos to Austin I get lower MPG than driving from Austin to San Marcos. I think it is the difference in the altitude. So these MPG scores can be deceiving sometimes.
Aye! There are lots of variables, Adam Ismael ... altitudes/hill climb vs down hill ratio, temperature/humidity, wind speed, traffic, amount of A/C use, driver fatigue ...
You can get it in automatic but it costs about £1000 more new. I'm getting one this week or start of next depending when they have it ready for me, well excited :)
1983Dave1983 £1000 more for the automatic in the UK that's outrageous. I don't care for autos that much, I hear the 6 speed Powershift automatic is garbage, doesn't shift smoothly or when you'd like it to.
Can you do a review in the honda hybrid accord 2014. I was able to get 60 mpg on 64 miles trip on back roads, you can watch my video at physics honda hybrid
Nice job! I had an Accord Hybrid for a spell over the winter. Got some good numbers out of it, considering the cold temperatures. Would love to retest it in under more hospitable temps.
The problem with cars like this is demonstrated perfectly at 7:01 3,000 RPM @ 30 MPH. Engine won't stand the test of time like that. (get a V8. 1300RPM at 70 MPH) edit: uhp, never mind. saw that someone already pointed this out but i'll still keep the comment up
First Last The three-banger's longevity may very well be an issue, but take a gander at the information display between the tach and speedo at 7:01. That little UP arrow next to the tach tells it all. Under normal circumstances I would have (should have) upshifted. I had it in a lower gear (than necessary). Because tunnel. =)
MPGomatic Yeah, I saw your reply to someone else who said basically the very same thing I did and you had pointed out the upshift light. That's why I had put the never mind edit in my comment. And no, the only thing I was staring at on that little display was the 50.0. If I drive on the highway, I can watch the gas gauge move.
"3,000 RPM @ 30 MPH. Engine won't stand the test of time like that. (get a V8. 1300RPM at 70 MPH)" He was only on second gear at that time, I would already be in 4th gear at 1400 RPM, or 5th gear at 1100 RPM downhill.
RPM and engine longevity are not directly correlated. Smaller engines can run at high RPM all day with no problem. Also take a look at what some V8s were running at highway speeds back in the days of three and four speed manual transmissions. :) I'd argue that short shifting the hell out of it like Carl m is saying is probably a lot worse.
An on board computer will never give you real mpg readings. I wouldn't be so excited about this "EcoBoost". With my HHO car I've got 90mpg on a motorway. It is possible, many things are possible if we only want it. Petrol/Diesel engine should already stand in the museum. Internal combustion engine with its poor 30% efficiency is still around only because certain groups do not wish to give up their powers.
S Sikorski YMMV, always! :) I've been testing week-after-week with a different car for years now and generally rely on tank-fill info for average MPGs. While there are always fluctuations with the on-board MPG displays, testing averages (not real-time) over a certain number of miles will provide a good ballpark number. I've yet to see HHO substantiated in real-world testing. I'd like to test it.
30% is just a general figure, it can be less for old carburettor petrol engines but "Modern turbo-diesel engines are using electronically controlled, common-rail fuel injection, that increases the efficiency up to 50% with the help of geometrically variable turbo-charging system". That's alot better than 30%. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engine_efficiency
Sofala Yes, 90mph at the motorway with hho cell powered by my 120Ah battery in my boot. Petrol is relict of the past. There were petrol vapour engines designed in the 50-60s making 120mpg but they have been too economical for oil companies and had to go. When I was a student I was driving 20 years old 1.6vw golf. The mpg in this car wasn't far from modern cars with fuel injectors and on board computers. Doesn't make you think how humanity managed to send a man to the moon and can't solve quite an easy issue? It's because oil companies and governments want us to keep buying petrol. I believe that hydrogen is the future. A hydrogen that we can produce on our own without corporations and wars.
S Sikorski Lol ok conspiracy nut. Hint: Your golf was a lot lighter. It would probably also kill you in an accident that you could walk away from in a modern car.
Started out in the low seventies, climbing into the 80s. The dash shots show the temps throughout. The A/C was off in the first run, only on briefly in the second (ran windows down through the Pinelands), and on in the NJ Turnpike run.
MPGomatic Dan, I'm sure you've that you use the same fuel on the highway with the a/c on and the windows closed vs no a/c an windows open, have you tried it out to see if it's true?
pedrof830 I have no control over the first tank of fuel (they come filled from the manufacturer), but everything is E10 here. I've done a bunch of windows up/down ac on/off testing over the years. It all depends on the specific characteristics of the car. Environmental changes can have some interesting effects. Cars tend to get good mileage when it's hot, but when you turn the a/c on ... fugghetaboutit! =) Hoping to do some E10/E0 comparison testing at some point this year.
Perhaps automatic temp control can help by not allowing the compressor to work more than you need, if it's 75 degrees, you don't need as much cooling as in the 90's
53.1 in a CRX DX is awesome, JETZcorp! I'm aiming to land in that neighborhood with my Civic HX. Never drove an HF, but I had a Si back in the day. Miss that car ...
Surprisingly good, FordTaurusSHO93 ... I expected it to be buzzy, but it's not. It's smoooooth (considering the size). Interesting exhaust note ... like nothing I've ever heard. Wondering what it will sound like with a good (!) aftermarket exhaust.
Hybrid technology is GREAT for folks that are stuck driving in nasty traffic on a regular basis. For everyone else, it's heavy, expensive, and unnecessary, IMHO. :)
Nugget Pug I ended up buying one of these magnificent little beasts for a song and a dance. It’s a hoot. Knock wood, I’ve rolled up over 55k miles in it so far. 🇺🇸🚗🛒
They're never exactly on the money, but our tank fill correlated with these numbers fairly well. I'd like to do much more extensive testing with this one ...
ford should make an engine with half the cubic capacity and SAME technology, that engine would still have about 60hp, enough to do the same job and thats the point here, consume even less fuel.
FaithfulTrigger They're both very cool. For most folks, the 1.0L will do just fine. But if I was buying a Fiesta for myself (and I've thought about it a lot), I'd go with the ST ... it's wicked fun to drive ...

Payments can be a tough nut (nothing better than owning outright!), but the amount you'll save on gas will be substantial.
If I need a pickup to move something, I could borrow my father's down the road :)
Still, a new car payment is more than paying for gas on this truck... so I'm just waiting to get financially sound to buy a new vehicle. I'm excited about it and my girlfriend is tired of me obsessing over car reviews online, but I find the research fun.
demoncleaner80 85K = low miles! Your truck should fetch a good price when it comes time to part.
MPGomatic Awesome, I'm subscribed to Autobytel also, I look forward to your full review!
MPGomatic I've been craving 1.0L ecoboost videos so I'm looking forward to that.
Hey Daniel, I can't wait to see how impressed you will be getting 84mpg with an Elio!
I'm looking forward to driving the Elio, catchatyou! They've been trotting one around to the big media outlets, but haven't knocked on my door yet. I would like to do an extended video on the company/trike ... it's very cool.
no elio for you! :P
60 MPG is only possible on the right roads, under the right conditions, when driven carefully. The Fiesta needs an OBDII feedback device to help drivers keep it in the zone.
GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU FROM GREAT BRITAIN.
1billwill Thanks!
6:58 , you're in 3000 rpm,
It's a Turbo Car, change shift (up one gear)
you will pass 50 mpg to 55-60 mpg
These are neat little cars. Have you had the chance to test an ST model Fiesta or Focus?
I still haven't driven the Focus ST, maxxtruck9906, but I've spent a bunch of time in the Fiesta ST. It's one of my favorite cars out right now. So much fun to drive ...
Whats insane is on highway in my 1.6 2014 fiesta i avg 52MPG on highway. I would of loved to get the 1.0L 3Cyl it sounds like a mini V6 lol.
I wish this was available last year before I bought a Prius.
Since these have been out for a while now does anyone have any feedback on long term reliability?
In Britain, the EcoBoost powered Fiesta has an officially tested, combined figure of 65.7mpg [54.7mpg US]. The EPA's official combined figure is 36mpg [43.2mpg UK], which is much closer to what the average driver is attaining. My brother has an EcoBoost Fiesta and he's averaging 46.6mpg [38.8mpg US].
I think this demonstrates just how broken the European system of testing fuel economy actually is, and how the US and the EPA are much closer to the mark.
Perhaps we should be taking a leaf out of your book.
Well your brother needs eco driving coaching. Driving mine very gently I get 59.6mpg and normal driving I get 54.
Having said that, he has got over 50mpg on quite a few occasions, with a high of 54.67mpg.
well there's the reason :P
one issue is that 93 octane (US rating, 97.4 in European rating), the gasoline/petrol used to find the MPG and performance figures on this model, is very hard to find in the US. the vast majority of places only offer up to 91 (95.3 European rating, in my state CA we have some of the strictest emissions laws in the world, gas stations aren't legally allowed to sell higher than 91).
one reason for the discrepancy may be that the US EPA overhauled its mpg rating system just a few years ago, and every car lost a few mpg.
juffurey I wonder if the tune is different on the European car. They have different octane and different emissions requirements. But, the reason for the difference in MPG's is US Galoon vs. Imperial Gallon. Higher octane doesn't mean more power.
Wait, why did getting stuck in traffic affectvthe MPG when Thevecoboost has Start/Stop which Ford say saves 8% of fuel cost per year?
Absolutely great video as usual Dan. Do you still got your Audi A3 TDI? I've got an A6 TDI, love it. Is it hard for you to tell both MPG and liters/kilometer as we use in Sweden? I would love that, much easier you know. Thanks for absolut lovely videos, have a great day :-)
Many thanks for the kind words, Andy K! TDIs are awesome. I only had the A3 TDI on a loan from Audi for a week's time to review. I would have to do the math to convert to the liters/kilometers. That might be a handy to add to the description.
That would be great MPGomatic :-)
Great video, and great engine.
Did you happen to squeeze in a 0-60? Incredible mpg! Thanks for sharing, Great video!
And what happened to the Mazda6 road test, I am still curious about what MPG you managed!
The Mazda6 is a great car. Apologies for not getting the review out! We ran into issues with the video files ...
My Mitsubishi Mirage does the same mpg, with A/C on (automatic) and with automatic transmission (2 gears plus CVT). It has less hp though. But I do not need more. Gets me above the speed limit too quickly.
+Ronald de Rooij Mirage sounds like a blender full of wool though. Sounds like a Kubota. Very harsh NVH.
I own the 1.4 tdci fiesta and I get over 80 mpg on the motorway and around 65 avrg
You are great man! The results are in us mpg?
Many thanks for the kind words, +spiros loridas! I always use US MPG. Everything else confuses me. :)
Whatever happened to the full review of this for Autobytel? :(
Had some problem footage unfortunately and didn't have enough on the cards to produce a full review. :/ I'd like to reshoot with a 2015 ...
Great Video! Just Curious, Where does the Tachometer Rest at 68-70 MPH? Would Assume about 2500-2700? Cheers!
6:57 3000 rpm, how economical is that?
lfsracer79 - I was so upset at the thought of turning the Fiesta in, that I momentarily ignored the upshift light ... =)
you think focus 1.0L will get same results? Thinking about buying one but all these other people are giving it bad mpgs. I bet hypermiling it should get close to 50mpg.
I haven't driven it yet, but it's always about how, when, and where it's driven. Gotta keep it out of the boost whenever possible …
+Jose Querido FOCUS 1.0 should get the same MPG as the Fiesta if you hold constant velocity. However in the city the extra weight of the Focus will burn more gas
.
How do you cancel the numbers on your trip and mpg etc?
Nice, My part of the country. Y should I buy and electric if cars can deliver great gas mileage like this today. Not sure if it pays to go electric.
I bought one of these little beasts earlier this year, for a song and a dance. It’s a hoot to drive, but I want an electric car that I can fuel with electricity from solar panels on my roof.
How did it, drive? How much power did it have? how loud was it on the highway? How comfortable were the seats?
Wish you could get this engine on a higher trim level, you can only get plastic wheel covers with this engine, not even my ford touch.
You got an awesome voice. Have you thought about audio books?
Many thanks, Jose! Putting out my own audio books or doing voiceover work? I've written a bunch of books over the years, but have never published anything on audio. I'd be open to the work if it came my way.
You should seek it out. Seriously, you have a very soothing voice. I honestly could see you as a video game voice.
Jose Nunez Aw shucks, thanks! Video game voice work would be a cool gig.
Didn't you have the start stop switched on when you were stuck in traffic?
+goodchappy THE U.S. Fiesta does not have start/stop function
.
How do you change your dashboard to miles
Our '04 civic hybrid really looks like old technology at this point...a few years ago, when it was still working, my dad was barely doing 45 mpg on the long island expressway at about 70mph...the car did have 185k+ miles at the time and a small flaw in aerodynamics as the hood didn't close all the way but I believe the real fault is the cv transmission which is not that great for good mpg's at those speeds...and possibly the aging IMA battery now I think of it
I was able to achieve 50.3 mpg in a 2013 Yaris with a manual.
You think they will make this car in automatic?
Are you going to test a Jetta / Passat 1.8 Turbo?
I don't have a 1.8T on the schedule yet, ExactlyPrecisely ... with luck, I'll get to it before winter.
MPGomatic And you still have not followed up with the Honda Odyssey or the Acura ILX.
How are you able to test all these cars? sorry if you said before. Wasn't aware.
Not to worry, *****! All of our road test vehicles are provided via the manufacturers' media fleets.
Would you know how someone like me, who is interested in reviewing cars.. can get a hold of a vehicle(s)?
***** Get a gig working for one of the media outlets? I've met a bunch of guys over the years that tripped into it through their college internships, some were in Journalism programs, others in Marketing.
So with the car not broke-in yet, do you think the fuel mileage would go up when it does get broke-in?
Possibly, Infinitrium ... I'd like to find out first hand. And it could benefit from some additional aero tweaks, as well ...
As 50mpg is 60mpg in English, that's impressive. Better than my Nissan Micra 1.0 at 53mpg and Peugeot 206 1.4 at 49mpg.
Does the 1.0L Ecoboost only come with the 5 spd manual?
You can get it in automatic but it costs about £1000 more new. I'm getting one this week or start of next depending when they have it ready for me, well excited :)
1983Dave1983 £1000 more for the automatic in the UK that's outrageous. I don't care for autos that much, I hear the 6 speed Powershift automatic is garbage, doesn't shift smoothly or when you'd like it to.
Do you know if they will make this engine available with an automatic?
Not sure when, flashwaver, but I expect they will at some point down the road ...
If this car came with an automatic, I'd be all over it, Dan.
That car is freakin awesome! I want one! I could so stand 38+ MPG !
Get a diesel Cruze bro 70mpg and cheap and will run forever
@@thewireman134 nah. Have a 4th gen Prius now. 55+ mpg and unbeatable Toyota quality. 😉
It really is a great car!
The problem with cars like this is demonstrated perfectly at 7:01
3,000 RPM @ 30 MPH. Engine won't stand the test of time like that. (get a V8. 1300RPM at 70 MPH)
edit: uhp, never mind. saw that someone already pointed this out but i'll still keep the comment up
First Last The three-banger's longevity may very well be an issue, but take a gander at the information display between the tach and speedo at 7:01.
(get a V8. 1300RPM at 70 MPH)"
He was only on second gear at that time, I would already be in 4th gear at 1400 RPM, or 5th gear at 1100 RPM downhill.
90mpg who are you kidding? I think your onboard readings are faulty?
Should I drop 11k on a 2014 12k mile green one?
Misael Ramos Certified Pre-Owned? I’ve been thinking about picking one up. Offer $10!
MPGomatic well it is a carmax car... you're right I should offer 10
Misael Ramos Start at $8,500! 🤣
MPGomatic they would not haggle... I'm giving em the cold should at the moment 😉
Misael Ramos 👍🏻 Good luck!
Thats Prius territory mpg. I bet its quicker and cheaper than a Prius as well. Impressive little car.
+Joshua C Need to see LONG TERM reliability as that's a very complicated engine, also a grand upcharge vs a standard Fiesta 1.6 engine
does anyone know what rpm is at 70mph in fifth gear?, because its supposed to be a lower rpm than the regular 1.6 manual
2500rpm
Jack Cooper thanks
What were the ambient temps and was the AC on?
Started out in the low seventies, climbing into the 80s. The dash shots show the temps throughout. The A/C was off in the first run, only on briefly in the second (ran windows down through the Pinelands), and on in the NJ Turnpike run.
MPGomatic
Dan, I'm sure you've that you use the same fuel on the highway with the a/c on and the windows closed vs no a/c an windows open, have you tried it out to see if it's true?
pedrof830 I have no control over the first tank of fuel (they come filled from the manufacturer), but everything is E10 here.
MPGomatic I'm if you had the ac the whole time especially on high , you wouldn't get close to 50 mpg lol
My MPG record in the CRX DX is 53.1mpg, set a few days ago. Looks like the Fiesta can beat that! More incentive for me to Release the CRX HF!!
53.1 in a CRX DX is awesome, JETZcorp! I'm aiming to land in that neighborhood with my Civic HX. Never drove an HF, but I had a Si back in the day. Miss that car ...
Looks like he could have got alot more if he wasn't revving it so high like at 6:57 30mph at 3000rpm!
Imagine the mileage without the turbo. But no power what so ever.
I get 32 mpg on my 08 3.5L Avenger
Hows the engine? Like NVH wise?
Surprisingly good, FordTaurusSHO93 ... I expected it to be buzzy, but it's not. It's smoooooth (considering the size). Interesting exhaust note ... like nothing I've ever heard. Wondering what it will sound like with a good (!) aftermarket exhaust.
The only fiesta I would buy is the st
Great video! Truly impressive until you hit traffic then we saw why hybrid technology is all around much better.
Hybrid technology is GREAT for folks that are stuck driving in nasty traffic on a regular basis. For everyone else, it's heavy, expensive, and unnecessary, IMHO. :)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My modified lawnmower has .2 of A gallon gas tank and runs for about 4 hours per tank.
It's cheaper to run than an electric lawnmower!
I find it funny how Americans are baffled by 3cyl
Nugget Pug I ended up buying one of these magnificent little beasts for a song and a dance. It’s a hoot. Knock wood, I’ve rolled up over 55k miles in it so far. 🇺🇸🚗🛒
Rented a ford B-max wagon thing in France with this 1.0 engine- very thrifty.
You can't go by the computer mpg. It is not accurate.
Would you buy this car on your own dime?
Yep.
LOLOLOLOLOL
For your money which one u will buy fiesta ecoboost1.0 or the fiesta ST ???
FaithfulTrigger They're both very cool. For most folks, the 1.0L will do just fine. But if I was buying a Fiesta for myself (and I've thought about it a lot), I'd go with the ST ... it's wicked fun to drive ...
I would choose the ST. Its powerful and very fuel efficient for a hothatch . Was able to get at least 700km per full tank
two very different cars to be fair ST is a hot hatch where as the 1.0L eco boost is more of a little family hatch both very good at the jobs they do im a massive hot hatch fan i own a honda civic type R so id go with the ST if it was me
