😂😂😂 yeah, right!!! I don’t believe that for one bit I do DoorDash and Uber eats and make way more than a McDonald’s employee hell The crew only starts off at $13 a manager would make 17 or 16 an hour for all the bullshit they have to go through. No, I’ll be my own boss make my own hours, make my own money and work for myself. I may not make a lot but at least I can have the day off when I want to and not have to answer to a fucking soul.

Sadly true. My sister is retired from the army like me and she also gets VA benefits and works at McDonald’s part time. They want her on full time but she refuses. She works 3-4 days a week and that’s an extra 400-500 after taxes so for her it’s just play money and she doesn’t have to work if she doesn’t want to but she does it to get out of the house.

I'm a prime example. Bought a 2021 Kia Niro Hybrid with 21k miles on it and owe about 19k. I have owned it for less than 3 weeks and already I've put over 3,400 miles on it. At this rate I'm putting 300 miles per day on the car to drive Uber for shit pay. So, what's my end game? At the end of one year I would have added over 72k miles on my car and have rendered it worthless within 2 years. Uber must know this. The drivers are carrying all the costs related to the trips. We pay for repairs, gas, oil changes, tires, etc. Uber takes 60-80% of the fares. This is MASS EXPLOITATION and Uber and Lyft knows this but they do NOT care. I got a fare from downtown Orlando to the airport and it only paid me $10! The passenger paid $43! How crazy is this crap? Drivers are now getting "creative" to make more money and I DO NOT BLAME THEM. The DRIVER is taking ALL the risk for these shit companies! DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO BECAUSE UBER AND LYFT DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU!!!

Uber & Lyft will try to use EV cars owned by regular people. They’ll say have your car work for you! Just loan us your car when you’re not using it. We’ll send it out autonomously to go out and pick strangers up. Your car does all the work while you relax at home! 😂 Of course…then Uber & Lyft will still take 75% of earnings that your EV makes. 😂

This trade-off has recently swung decidedly in Uber’s favor. Recent US driver pay cuts have helped fuel a rapid rise in Uber’s free cash flow and a resurgent stock price that brought Uber’s market cap over $120 billion in early December 2023 for the first time since the company was founded. Uber’s CEO has a strong incentive to keep the company’s momentum going.

I can do better than that: First, ride share companies over-rely on their algorithms and not on the people (public and drivers) on the ground. So, these companies don't use their own brains to gauge where the action is (where they and the drivers can make money) and therefore, bully their drivers to have the nice car and attitude which is/was to set them apart from the classical cab companies, BUT they forget that the drivers (yes,"the weakest link" but the greatest asset) IS what can make or break the ride share company! Plus, these companies need to take a page out of the classic cab company's playbook: one glaring example it has over ride share companies, is that regional cab companies know the area they serve; they don't over-rely on their app(s) nor technology: if you need to go somewhere, generally cabbies KNOW how to get you there! Sorry, if ride share companies treated drivers with respect and they in turn, treat their customers with respect, the business can work! No, for all of the qualifications ride share companies put drivers through and understandably so, what the drivers get out of it does not mesh with what they're paid - cars, have expenses (personal or business); at least factor that in!

But the prices are absurd slightly less than a cab so actually one time I couldn’t get a Lyft so called a cab. But I stopped using it a lot because of the absurd prices and drivers only get a fraction of the money. Same reason I avoid cabs. It’s cheaper to own a car than to take a Lyft a few times a week. It’s absurd. To go a few miles which I could ride a bike as an alternative. $12 each way. To go a long distance $50 each way. I only make $100 a day working at a job.

Uber has many more drovers than they need. When any market is flooded wkth services. The price of pay for the service goes down. When the amount of services is less than demand. Pay rates go up.
As people are stressed economically, they make poor decisions on how much money they should except vs. the money they do or shouldn't except.
Of the people willing to take an unfair amount for their time and effort. It justifies the pay because its what a market is willing to bear.
It takes sometimes months to find a job and go through the entire process of interviews and hiring. The bar for being a gig worker is so incredibly low that more enter it than they should
This is one of the many challenges of an open market.

We’re almost there but eventually we’re going to hit a point where drivers are truly paying to drive for Uber and destroy their cars. That’s when the crash will happen. There will be a max exodus of drivers. They keep slashing driver payout. The only alternative is to pay drivers enough to where driving for the company is worth the time and effort. But I’ve never seen a company with a fiduciary responsibility to shareholders increase their pay to their entire workforce, not without legislation or a union. I personally can’t wait for Uber to crash and burn. There’s too much corporate greed in a company with an unsustainable business model. Uber was never going to be profitable without dramatically increasing fares on passengers. And that’s why they operated at a loss for all those years. They couldn’t come out the gate with true sustainable prices for pax and pay for drivers so they took the loss for all those years to get their system in every nook and cranny of society. Uber and Lyft are small scale examples of what a world without government intervention and unions looks like. Corporations would literally pay you the bare minimum/not at all or actually charge you for the privilege/opportunity to make pennies with them

I had one person that I picked up a long time ago doing Lyft the guy told me he needed to use my phone charger to charge up his phone I told him no you should’ve brought your own. He gave me an attitude and I stopped the car and I told him to get the hell out. He proceeded to tell me that I had to drop him off at his location I said, OK buddy I’ll do that for you, as soon as I got to the location, he said his friend was not home I said not my problem then I started getting pissed and I told him to get the fuck out of my car. He started to get angry with me so I got more angry with him. He then proceeded to ask me what was I going to do if he did not That’s when I pulled my gun his attitude changed dramatically and I told him to get out of my car the next time I will fire my gun and the police will be called. I never seen a person move so quickly as soon as he was out. I canceled the ride. I called Lyft And told them the whole situation and right then in there I cashed out and deleted their stupid ass app, and I never done rideshare ever again very unsafe
