Love all these great old shows. So much better than a lot of what is in these days.
I agree. So much nasty stuff in the shows of today, cursing using the F word, the GD words and others, not to mention the nudity. Nothing is left to the imagination anymore. Plus the acting is usually pretty bad compared to the old stars of yesteryear. If only we could turn back the clock to when tv had family shows everyone could watch with classy and talented actors and you got thrills, chills and scares from the stories instead of realistic gore.
@@rebeccahernandez3460These shows were not very diverse though I still love them and this show is particularly addicting.
There's nothing like these old black & white 60's shows! The suspense factor is so much better than anything produced now, it's almost like reading... 😊 Thank you for sharing these classics that we'd never find elsewhere!
I totally agree! This was so atmospheric and creepy. The era and use of monochrome lends itself perfectly to this story.
I got a suggestion on another video comment about Flixzone, I will definitely check that out. Thanks Everybody!
Really good to watch, a nice change from special effects and gratuitous violence. The suspense was real.
That’s the real reason for early TV And Radio Broadcast Beyond Imagination
I used to watch this show religiously when I was still in high school. Always interesting and suspenseful. Brings back fond memories.
I remember watching this I was 12 years old my brother would scare me when I would go up to bed. These were a classic . Boris was incredible.
John Newland is a treat to see too. As soon as I saw the episode I was pleased to see the One Step Beyond host doing a cross over
It was summer vacation from grade school when watching these. The Weird Taylor was another one that scared the stuffing out of me . Check it out and see if you remembered this one. .
I never knew John Newland was an actor and such a good one, I really enjoyed this movie.
He was a great director ... as a matter of fact he directed one of the best (if not the best) "Thriller" episode titled Pigeons From Hell 👌🏻
John New land, Boris Karloff, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and Basil Rathbone were fantastic actors. This show were filled with suspense and incredible actors! Great show!
From the early sixties Boris Karloffs THRILLER series This is a spooky and curious TV series in black and white Welcome to the world of the strange and macabre.
Boris Karloff as Colonel March was a tour we force! No violence, sex, cursing, or nudity. Just a great script with great actors and the experience of being transported into the time and place of the story. On a differ note, Boris was a great friend of Frank Sinatra. Boris would visit him and bring freshly cut flowers from his garden. In real life Boris was a gentleman and was very polite and well mannered. He was a genius.
We love watching One Step Beyond and love John Newland.
You’d think that if you were going down to that vault everyday, you’d get a broom and knock down those cobwebs!!
I've seen this as a kid and never forget it years of not seeing it on tv didn't erase the memory thank you UA-cam for reacquainting me with my first night mare😢😮😢😮
Love John Newland work. thanks for this one where he also acting. I love old Black and white movies
There's something about John Newland -- love him as a host, a director, and now, as an actor. Thanks for posting this.
If you can Erome ,try to check out the 1973 flick "Don't be afraid of the dark" which Mr.Newland directed ... and what a great horror film it is 👍
@@rafaelramirez1507 I will check it out...Thanx ..
Never heard of John Newland... probably I have seen some of his movies!!!!
There isn't an actor alive today who has the presence or natural talent of Boris Karloff. He was a legend in his own lifetime.
It's a shame John Newland isn't around and in his prime today. Not only was he a terrific director, he had a great screen presence. A genuine subtle actor. RIP John.
An excellent Thriller, John Newland was wonderful, in the lead. great performances!!!
I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THESE BLACK AND WHITE MOVIES!!!💯👍👍
C'mon... we all know its a tv show even if he wrote movie.
Personally I call everything 'shows'.....tv, movies whatever ...@@melanier7309
"Return of Andrew Bentley" was my favorite story from the book "Famous Ghost Stories." Get the 1944/45 edition for the great drawings !
@thhomasppp,
That book is a Classic! I think it was edited by Bennett Cerf.
I read and reread that book of Ghost Stories for many years.
"The Mezzotint" was one of the stories, scary as heck!
This movie changed a few details in the original story.
The descriptions of the action, what was seen --- were all deliciously frightening.
Highly recommend it.
Thank you for reminding me,
thhomasppp.
@@OceanSwimmer Yes by Bennett Cerf..I have an old copy with illustrations. I think The Willows is my new fav. ! The Mezzotint was great too. You're welcome !
This is the Thriller episode I really remember. It's brilliant.
Scariest thing I saw on TV, period, when I was a kid. Like OUTER LIMITS' Zanti Misfits, it isn't as scary as you THOUGHT it was when you return to it as an adult, but it's still great.
I thought I watched all the TV shows like this one back in the sixties but somehow I missed this one. Better late than ...
Anthologies are the best! They all give drama, suspense, horror and thriller all wrapped up into one great surprise ending!
@@tefinnegan5239 is not an anthology make but greatly has an uncanny resemblance
@@tefinnegan5239 You do understand that this video is one episode in a series, right?
@@tefinnegan5239 67 episodes of Thriller TV series hosted by Boris Karloff.
As old as these are, they’ll never get old
Since the familiar can't cross water and they knew they'd encounter it back in the basement, did anyone else yell at them to carry buckets of water?! 69yo and these STILL get to me🤣🙈
The dialogue should have been the more accurate "flowing water." I thought the same thing...
I was 10 yrs old when I saw this movie with my dad we saw all of Boris Karloff's Thriller movies, black and white movies are/were the best😊😊❤
Holy Crap! I forgot all about this wonderful series! How interesting and absolutely fascinating to study Boris Karloff's acting and delivery. Gems all! Thanks!
Piano keys playing off-key notes, a deep Cello sustaining notes at the very bottom of the instruments lowest register, a timpani drum pounding intermittently between the other notes.......a body lying across the organ keyboard sounding dissonant and foreboding.......as sure as my name is Boris Karloff.......'This is a thriller' !!
I love that this series uses wealth and prettiness as a vibe of protection that does not actually protect. I especially love the carriages and horses and long dresses and fancy oil lamps.
This one was spooky as hell.Good acting by everyone.I was 16yrs old when this was on tv.
A really good episode of Thriller. Very creepy atmosphere throughout. Nice to see John Newland in an acting role.
Great episode! Thank you for posting these greats! John Newland from the other great series ( based on documented accounts of real life miracles and mysteries) called- One Step Beyond. And Karloff❤ the best! Thank you!
My husband just opened the door and scared the livin' tar outta me! Lol ( It's midnight and he just got home...me with headphones on so he had no idea I was watching something scary) I literally jumped! LOL
The scary movies today can't hold a candle to these classics . Even the Westerns and Little Rascals . No those real good actors.
God I love n miss these old classic series!!! They bring such good childhood memories!!!
Thanks UA-cam for posting!!!!
This is one of my favorite episodes of Thriller. Deliciously creepy.
I truly enjoy these films, no doubt my Mummy and Stepfather would have watched these, thank you ..........mm
A horrifying short from the pen of August Derleth. What an incredible story teller he was.
It's in the September 1933 issue of Weird Tales. Co-writen by Mark Schorer. Richard Matheson wrote the teleplay. He is the absolute best. Twilight Zone and I Am Legend.
This scared me quite a bit when I was 9 years old. The Andrew character was British if I recall correctly. It was casting perfection with a face like his. Ok, the familiar was something from The Outer Limits but still creepy enough to suit me. I love John Newland, such a class act. His series One Step Beyond was fabulous and he was the perfect host. I have the box set for which I'm grateful. The stories were based on documented paranormal encounters. Well worth the watch. Thank you Emmanuel. You've got my sub and all notifications bell, rung. This was such a treat. :o)
Enjoyed it, sending to my brother who watched Thriller with me growing up.
Enjoyed this old flick. So much better than the blood and guts of today's horror movies.
A great movie with Boris Karloff ( Comedy of terrors starring Vincent Price & Peter Lorrie )
Hi ,i love old movies black & white. Thanks to share
The wife I know and she’s a good actress - used to see her a lot. The butler was marvelous - real fear, real expressions in his face. Newland I know from his Something Steps Beyond as the host, but I really had no idea he could act so well. Without the accent, he is very posh British in behavior. Love this scary tale. Thanks so much :) 🎭😧
Thanks for posting this is one of my favorite shows!!
Thriller was great & video actor John Newlin was host to another outstanding show ONE STEP BEYOND
I like how Antoinette Bower is so convincingly grandiloquent when she says lines like, “I don’t know. I don’t know.”
Ms. Bowers, much like longtime soap opera and tv drama actress Judith Chapman, has appeared on literally dozens of tv shows, including: “The Fugitive,” “Hogan’s Heroes,” “The Invaders” and “Mission:Impossible.” She’s like the “Harold Stassen of American Network Television.”
And, what about Austrian actor. Reggie Nalder? He had a long career, portraying creepy and ghoulish characters. He was great as the ruthless assassin in Alfred Hitchcock’s, “The Man Who Knew Too Much.” Mr. Nalder would have been great as a warlock or evil sorcerer on “Dark Shadows.”
I love how the preacher was in as soon as he heard they wanted to destroy Bentley's body. He was like YEAH! Let's roll.😅
What an amazing drama! Thank you!!
“… As sure as my name is Boris Karloff.“ Said William Henry Pratt.😆
That music🤭 the sound effects😳 this makes you scare yourself!!! 😵😢
This episode had it all.
Great show ❤
I love Newland's reading in Latin. Wonderful inflection; clearly studied the language.
I love this show! Got the DVD set and can't stop watching it , totally creepy!💕
The horror suspense ones are the real gems , the other episodes were iffy , but all and all, from a scale from 1 to 10, I give the "Thriller" series a 10 ...... why ? ... Because the horror episodes are so good that you forget all about the iffy ones , 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Best episode of Thriller I've ever seen! Loved it!! ❤️💀👻🕯
Boris Karloff is awesome 😊😊❤
John Newland host of one step beyond.
Really good stuff.
This lady was in the Star Trek, “Cat’s Paw” episode; John Newland from “one step beyond.”👏
I'm glad there weren't a bunch of sceptics here in this story !!! KUDOS !!!
just saw one step beyond and here he is again!!!
First on the list, sweep down those webbies. It was strange to see fire in the last place behind two doors.. This was a thriller.. Thank you.
29:16 - I must have that smoking jacket he's wearing in a full-length, hooded robe!! It must be burgundy, gold, and what? Green? I love it!!!
Jonathan Frid wore a similar one when he portrayed legendary vampire Barnabas Collins on the great “Dark Shadows.”
This episode really gave me the creeps at 6 yrs old. I peed my bed that night. Still remember it well.
I was 6 too and went to bed TERRIFIED. The scariest thing I ever saw as a kid. Scarier than the Zanti Misfits on OUTER LIMITS or the Captain on ONE STEP BEYOND.
Good stuff... This is something else...
Thanks a bunch.The black@white movies are better!
I wasn't even born when this show was aired.
Nice oldies.love them.best acting
Thank you!
Enjoyed this episode. Thank you!
wow- haven't seen a Thriller for decades!
got to admit i giggled more than a few times. It certainly had early-talkies vibes about it with all the theatrics and stilted characters, but it was interesting to watch
Thank you 😊
I've kicked the bought air down to 65, it's quiet and dark.
I can relax and enjoy, now.
Thank you so much.
Warm wishes from Moscow!
Fun fact for all of you horror buffs: Reggie Nalder, who made a brief appearance starting at 32:00, played the vampire Barlow in the Tobe Hooper version of the 1979 film 'Salem's Lot. It was also a non-speaking part.
This was definitely my favorite episode of Thriller. I liked them all, but this one topped them all.
John Newland also directed the episode.
Thank you.
Love these old things but honestly didn't anyone think to bring a broom and sweep down the cobwebs!
“Can you wait for us?” Horse and buggy Dude, “nah, I’m outta here!” 😂😂
Good 'ol haunted house show. Good old fashioned scare, little gore. Bones maybe
I just wonder why they didn't ever bother to swipe away all those cobwebs! 😂
Always welcome
Great acting, great tv show, high quality ! 😊
If only the movie industry could make shows half as good as they used to.
💘 that gothic organ, especially with a corpse draped over it
I have no recollection of this actor who plays the uncle at all, and he is an excellent actor. So considering he has an important role in the show, I am quite amazed. 🎬
Aha! the photo in the beginning credits, now I know him.
Reggie Nalder played "Kurt Barlow" in Salem's Lot...
I have always liked John Newland. Here he speaks like an Englishman, although he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio! I'm from around Cleveland!
They should have a channel that only show these types of movies. Not TCM . Even the old The Island Of Dr Moreau is good .The movie about the man hunting people on his island is good. Thank you. 😊 ❤
Enjoyed.
I have to go to bed 🛌 after this goes off 😮.
Wow. This was made the year I was born.
I remember watching this when I was a young child and we had an uncle who used to go outside and how like a wolf! It used to scare the big Jesus out of us
REGGIE NALDER WAS AS CREEPY IN THIS AS HE WAS IN SALEM'S LOT !!!GARY BAILEY KING OF DARKNESS AND GOD OF THUNDER AND LIGHTNING /GARY BAILEY P.S. AGREE WITH EROME I
ALSO ,LOVE JOHN NEWLAND AS A HOST, DIRECTOR, AND ACTOR, BRAVISIMO TO MR. NEWLAND...
Show usmore of such thrillers&mystery episodes
And then at the end, they all retired to the drawing room and had some brandy....probably doubles.
I grew up watching Boris Karloff movies as a kid, here I'm 68 now and still watching. awesome movies Boris was a great man ✅
Love him!
Same
Me too Gary. I’m 69, will be 70 in July and love Boris movies as well as all these movies from 1940’s to early 69’s. It’s all I watch as I don’t watch TV today. Quit watching TV in 2018. Utube is it.
same here, few could do spooky like Boris did. Vincent Price was good at spooky too. my mom loved him. i remember watching the Pit and the Pendulum with mom on tv 1960's , and Dr Phibes. so spooky. cheers 🥂
@@Ourladyrules so beautiful that you mention your mother. She never liked horror. She was very afraid of death, Even speaking about health problems...I miss her terribly. This is where the spooky part comes in. I often think about her once beautiful body lying in her coffin!!! Sorry!
