I nodded off a few times, but, I think I still followed you. So the conclusion is buy the right oil.

I didn't even notice the video had ended, I was in a trance looking at my suggested video recommendations.

Hi. Why did you do this test and why did you recommend DPSF again? 🤔

      I believe so

So it can be said that high quality full synthetic ATF can run in these Honda SH-AWD rear differentials yes?

Well, I happen to notice that my first gen CR-V has a factory sticker on the diff to use only ATF fluid... I guess that was before they figured out the special HondaGenuine DPF..

@@TeemoDIY yep how is the rear differential now? Still good? Forums say Honda changed the ATF to a thinner DW-1 fluid. Probably due to the believe that thinner viscosity nets better fuel mileage. Maybe because it’s a remedy for people ignoring ATF service. That being said it probably did not protect the differential enough. The marketing people at Honda probably saw an opportunity to market an “exclusive” fluid for themselves which is probably a non pink colored ATF. Or maybe I stretched that a little…

@@TeemoDIY Nice! So I heard. Also heard the newer diffs say “DPSF.” My theory is because the newer spec ATFs are ridiculously too thin to be called oil lol. I’m gonna try thick robust viscosity Mobil1 FS multi vehicle formula. Both trans and diff. Do you still have the vehicle? If so how is it running?

So can I just use Synthetic Atf that is Z1 compatible?

Not the speed of flow but the quality and what it does. Not a good test objective.

Definitely should not be sticking ATF fluid into a Honda CR-V differential, believe me I work for Honda and yes stick to HONDA FLUID!!! Nothing else unless you feel like buying a new differential.

I recently changed mine and when I went to the dealer to buy the 2 quarts they were trying to sell me some additive to add to the duel Pump II fluid. It was called MGC (Multi-Gear Concentrate) and the dealership said they add it to all vehicles new or old when they do differential fluid changes.

are there any other choices from other company instead honda oil?

I bet to wager that DPSF2 is actually ATF. Just like earlier Honda rear diffs called for ATF-Z1. It’s 2023 and this is still largely a mystery?
