"It becomes the sea you swim in." Robert was a poet even when he was just in a conversation.

One of the great song writers of the time... Classic songs that will last.

Hunter was a truly fascinating guy. I used to love reading his posted journals, which dug way deeper than just his lyrics.

I saw him perform at a very small bar in Bergenfield NJ. I think it was called Circus Circus. Could not have been more that 150 people there.

1990 was as close to 1957 as it is to present day and Hunter was 49 here. What any of thay means i dont know, just coming to terms with time's flight.

this got me wondering if "time's flight" in memory
      is how analagous to
Icarus's flight w/ wax wings that got too close to the sun in Greek mythology
haven't toyed w/ the thought yet, too early for thought here, but
thought I'd send you the toy to play with if you want to since yr words gave it to me
have a good time w/ the flight

    thank you
this reminded me to do a (failed) youtube search for "Robert Hunter + Ray Manzarek"
in addition to this book signing tour, Hunter played very small venues w/ Manzarek
He was reading not singing from the book w/ Manzarek adding some background
if that sounds vague it is because my memory of it is even vaguer, but it did happen
in a small hall of a house-size church where I lived, a few dozen had noticed a poster
or more likely most heard word of mouth since it was GD's Bay Area home turf
no way anyone other than Bob+Ray could have filmed it

Robert Hunter did a tour with Tom Constanten that was how you described, I'd be really interested to hear RH and Manzerek or even read about one of their performances, I've never seen or heard about their collaboration.

      @@KeizerHedorah the memory is vague,
I could easily be convinced it was TC, so I'm not disagreeing when I say ...
the 2 things that keep me leaning toward Manzerek are that
      1. Manzerek & the church & the book taste strong in the memory of the event
      2. I'd have been WAY psyched to see TC. Loved his work on early albums.
So I expect I wouldn't have forgotten it was TC if it was, but
even as I feel+say all that, I wouldn't argue it, even w/in myself
I asked for other data, & you have it, so maybe it was TC
memory has a way of having its own ideas when the memory gets that old
thanks for pointing me in a direction I can look further when I have time

Thanks! Hunter touched on his own touring, most of the time when I saw him he was really good, but the last time I saw him on stage in Allentown Pennsylvania, he way too loose and sloppy. Yet, the next date on what would be his final public appearance tour, reports say he was tight and sharp as a razor. I miss Hunter just as much as I miss Garcia and the GD.
