    I actually just got the paired set of the Chinese versions. The male model seems perfectly adequate, but I had to perform plastic surgery on the female model because her neck was put on with the peg hole going back out of the neck instead of up into it. Other than that and a couple of stiff hips (with which I sympathize) I'm actually really happy with them.

    Hey the neck piece on your figma female is upside-down, that would be why it does not fit properly and is not proportional.

    • @Aneriana
      @Aneriana 7 років тому +4

      Oh no, the neck can't be upside-down because the top joint and the bottom one are different. One's smaller than the other so the neck only fits one way.

    • @SLACKTHENINJA
      @SLACKTHENINJA 7 років тому +11

      It's actually a manufacturing error I believe. I had the same issue on mine, but not one the second one that I bought. If you look, the neck tapers in the opposite direction of that on a real human. I fixed this by re-drilling the holes for the pins on each side of the neck with a 1/8th bit and filling the cavity with epoxy sculpt. I then pressed the fitting into the putty once it had firmed slightly and twisted it occasionally to prevent the two from fusing. If this sounds like a fix you'd like to implement, you can find epoxy putty at walmart aswell as most hardware stores (the woodfill they sell works best for this) or buy epoxy sculpt off of amazon. I hope this helps!

    • @SLACKTHENINJA
      @SLACKTHENINJA 7 років тому +5

      Also If you wanted to buy body kun/chan,but hate their head design as I do, its really easy to cast the heads of the figma archetype and fit it to the neck joint of the body kun/chan. all you need is epoxy putty/ sculpt and vegetable oil.

    • @Aneriana
      @Aneriana 7 років тому +2

      You might be right with the manufacturing error because that's how it came and there's no way to change it. Well, considering the item's price I can only imagine how quickly it's assembled (quantity not quality). Although, I think I'm not gonna do anything about it because I'm lazy :D and only use these figures occassionaly. Still, it's a good way to fix it, someone might find it handy! :D I'll remember it if I ever change my mind. Thanks!

    I ordered these too because I really don't like the big heads either and I wanted a more realistic look... I don't anticipate using them much but I did want them to get scale models of this size as I have 1!6 Obitsu, (27cm, 50cm and 60cm) and various other roughly 12" figures. I think these will suffice for my purposes too... thanks for the video. I quite get into playing with poses with the Obitsu because they're beautiful.
    I was just looking atthe original ones and I prefer the heads of these... I think these may have a bigger range of movement in the legs...it looks like that. I will be happy with these!

    I just gotten the Body-Kun and Body-Chan and I do like them, but the most useful one is definitely Kun. Chan is too small and flimsy to use regularly so I'll be only using her in case I need a dance scene or other scene where two people need to interact. These Archetypes do seem bigger than the Figuarts ones which is definitely a plus. Then again, no accessories other than hands, which the Figuarts do have (the DX version). Both have their advantages and disadvantages it seems.

    I have the same set of figures, however, I chose the orange colored as it appeared to be somewhat closer to skin tones. That was a mistake. Gray shows the facial features better I believe. It is very hard to see the facial features on the orange. The torso joint on my female figure pops out constantly. It is very difficult to deal with. So far the figures have not been as helpful as I thought they'd be, but it is one more tool. Posing the figures and photographing them seems to me the best way to use them.

    How is the side-to-side articulation at the chest on the Figma? There's almost none on the Body-Kun. And the Body-Kun head is able to tilt to the right, but not much at all on the left (at least on the copy that I received).

    • @Aneriana
      @Aneriana 7 років тому

      Lou Hi! These figures are pretty good when it comes to their chest movements! They can bend forward and backward and twist their chest to the left and right - their limits are similar to an average human being. However, they're not very good at bending to the left or right when they're standing straight. When it comes to their necks, they twist really well to the left and to the right but none of them can bend their head and neck towards their chest - not a chance their chin could touch their chest.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi, the writing on the packaging is in Japanese (what gives it away are the hiragana characters, Japanese's syllabic writing system). Are you certain these are a "cheap Chinese version"? 18 GBP (USD $36) is their normal retail value, ordered directly from Japan (plus shipping costs, which run USD $20 for the USA (we have no VAT tax). I believe you have the Figma Japanese originals, rather than a knock-off Chinese copy.

      I understand now. You bought both for a total of 18 GBP total. That is very cheap! I'm not accustomed to seeing Chinese knock-offs in such well-copied packaging (I usually encounter them in plastic bags or rebranded with a Chinese logo). • @Aneriana
      @Aneriana 7 років тому

      I'll tell you that it all depends on whether you're lucky to get a figure that doesn't have loose joints. My male figure has a bit loose knee joint so it would be a bit of a pain to constantly fix it when changing poses (I don't use them that often so I'm okay with this). But then my female figure is perfectly fine and you can change poses easily. If you were to buy them cheap ones from Ebay, I'd say pay attention to buy the ones that come in a box like mine (if they don't show the box, ask sellers if they come in a box). Some sellers sell them in just plain plastic bags - don't buy these, my guess is they might be even worse quality. Hope that helps!

      This is why I ended up getting body Chan (not the new version with the shield). The skeletal proportions are the most important thing - you can add as much or as little muscle as you like. The body Kun proportions are ridiculous though

    • @RATGUTZZ
      @RATGUTZZ 5 років тому

      I am guessing it is because the figures resemble more of a comic book vibe, big muscles and semi exaggerated features for example, which works for some artists however I do see how it may be a bit of a struggle. Luckily you can change it though haha.

      @Aneriana 7 років тому +1

      Baroness94 m I'd say that regardless of what you're drawing (manga, comic or realism) the Figma Archetype figure would be better. Because you can always make some changes to the character's body when drawing like e.g. make her head bigger or make hips wider. But it's difficult to learn human anatomy when you have non-realistic model like Body-chan.
      The only plus for Body-chan is that you can find sets with more accessories (swords, laptop, telephone).

      @Aneriana 3 роки тому +1

      It's a very good question, thanks!
      After over almost three years, the figures are pretty much still the same. However, the plastic stands had small element that would allow you to attach the figures to the stand. This element broke into pieces after about 1,5 years!
      Note, I don't use the figures excessively, so for someone else the joints in figures could have broken by now.
      I will need to figure out how to replace the attaching element or if I can piece it back together. I'll be happy to share when I figure something out in case this happens to others.

      Ok, już mam pomysł, mam nadzieję, że przełamanie wygląda tak jak myślę. Wzięłabym tą końcówkę podłużną i przez jej środek przepchnęłabym szpilkę, tak żeby wystawała po drugiej stronie (trzymając szczypcami podgrzałabym ją zapalniczką, bo gorąca przejdzie przez plastik bo go roztopi), wtedy wepchnęłabym tą część podłużną w środek główki (czy jak to tam jest) i wokół połączenia cienko ale dokładnie skleiłabym kropelką. Resztę igły (wystającej u góry) odcięłabym nożyczkami czy też cążkami.
      Wiem, że troszkę to zamotane, dlatego posiłkuję się obrazkiem: imgur.com/a/nrJix (niebieskie to igła, a zielone to klej kropelka). :)
      Jeśli mimo to nie jest to zbyt jasne, to tu znalazłam taki artykuł po angielsku gdzie osoba wykonuje coś podobnego, szczególnie zwróć uwagę na zdjęcia nr 5 i 6, tylko, że ta osoba wierciła dziurę na szpilkę, a szyja w Figmie jest dość cieniutka i to mogłoby się nie udać: myfigurecollection.net/blog/30007 jeśli potrzeba po polsku to wrzuć sobie tekst w tłumacza. :)
      Daj znać czy tak wygląda złamanie i czy ten sposób nie jest zbyt trudny. Aczkolwiek jedyna alternatywa jaką widzę, to chyba po prostu kropelka... :)

    • @anocerpapaya
      @anocerpapaya 6 років тому

      Wiem jak to zrobić, ale złamana jest ta kulka na pół. Kilka godzin temu przykleiłam to kropelką i teraz szyja ma ograniczony ruch.
      Za bardzo to mi nie przeszkadza. Dziękuję za poświęcenie czasu. Jeżeli coś się złamie, zastosuje tą radę. 💕

    The Figma man looks like a hulking monster- I can barely stand to look at him, he's so grotesque. The female figure is good. The male Body Kun looks like a normal man; the female Body Chan is an insult to women and to anatomy. So if you REALLY want to use these as art models, get the Figma Female & the Body Kin male. I also think the Synthetic Human male is pretty good but the have no female counterpart and they're expensive so not a good idea.

    • @Aneriana
