What a lovely Scottish film, full of dry humor and wit. So enjoyed seeing all the dogs. "Says you." And that judge!
Hardly Scottish set in Scotland though I highly doubt all if any was filmed there and most of the actors are English.
@jemmajames6719 Thank you for the enlightenment.
@@jemmajames6719 So what? Many actors were clearly Scottish as was the supposed setting. The culture of it was entirely Scottish, and I loved it.
British humor is wonderful! So much smarter and better than the supid stuff from America that isn't at all funny!
I am always amazed at the excellent restorative quality of British films compared to American B films of the same years. I always enjoy a mature comedy, the political satire is an added pleasure. Additionally, a romance without all the phhysical details on display is a comfort. Thank you for posting.
I don't know why you specify Hollywood B films. The thirties are generally considered the golden age of American romantic comedy, among other genres, and with good reason. It is true that the Hollywood money men insisted that the writers and directors stay away from political controversy (even to the extent of making sure not to offend Herr Goebbels and the rest of the Nazis, for fear their German profits would disappear) but broad laughs at fictional politicians were always welcome. I can't remember a '30s movie with 'all the physical details on display'. In fact self-censorship was very strong regarding sexual matters starting in 1933, and even married couples were always shown with twin beds in the bedroom, separated by a night table.
@@kirkmattoon2594 American movies of that era don't hold a candle to the British ones. They needed Chaplin and Hitchcock to go over and teach them how to make good movies. And that kind of prudish attitude is ridiculous! I thought that would have died out long ago with my parents age group. How on earth did my generation and younger get so unreasonably prudish?
Brilliant film, thank you
Cecil Parker looks so young.
If only I was around in that era.
Saw Cecil Parker (Vivian Leigh’s father in movie) in many movies. Enjoyed every one, wonderful actor!!! Very good movie..
I believe he was in Hitchcock's. "The Lady Vanishes" right?
Lighter than air, which is difficult to do. A million thanks to all involved.🙂🙂🙂💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️
1937, Leigh 24 years old, Harrison 29
I dearly love her. She took forever to age. ❤
How could anyone not fall in love with Vivien in this movie !!!
She plays rather a straight role here compared to her other movies, but is absolutely adorable & heart stealing for herself & not the makeup as in other movies. She is absolutely beautiful & does the most wonderful expressions. It's a pity that they didn't have more closeups with her smiling & some closeups with her laughing. She is such an amazingly beautiful girl here. And so talented.
RIP my Dear Vivien.
I agree with every word, especially that they should have shown her in more joyous shots, because she was so extraordinarily beautiful!
What a great show! Big fan of Mr. Harrison for a while, but his earlier movies are more spectacular than thought possible!
Delightful film, both quirky and serious, intelligently hilarious, and with that well loved underpinning of a budding young and truthful loving romance. Will SAVE, and hope this channel does as well! Thank you.
Such a surprise an English English film in 2023 Canada to watch ! Cheers to you !
What do you mean by English?
What an absolutely adorable film! 😅 They sound just like my Irish grandparents, just delightful! The perfect all star cast! Thank you 🎉
The accents are very different, but the thinking is the same. 😉 ✌🏼
I swear the more I watch the 30's movies the more I think they were, if not the greatest generation, certainly the most beautiful. Vivien Leigh is just indescribably lovely here!
I agree the 1930's was the best decade as far as the condition of the American spirit. Fear, pridefullness and complacency have wrought havok. We're so lost we're running our own National Sovreignty into the ground unawares. With a little help from our enemies.
@@terrikennedy3088 I'm glad you see it. You are a rare gem.
Great movie and Rex Harrison and Vivian Leigh were fantastic actors in it.
Vivien.
Most enjoyable. Nice to see location shots of Inveraray at the start of the movie.
I LOVE this movie! The always lovely Vivian Leigh❤️❤️
We need more like Mr Burdon (Rex Harrison) in the news industry Exposing the Truth + Fighting for Justice + the citizenry.
Filmed long ago, 1937.....but contains some remarkable crowd ensemble scenes.....plus a 'crowd' dog scene you won't forget in a hurry!.....for me, Sara Allgood,( Honoria Hegarty) and Cecil Parker, ( Provost Gow), get the acting honours.....plus the crowd!
Quite right! I always enjoy those two!
Yes, it did seem like the 1930s. Not so veiled references to fascism and abuse of power, also a bit of distaste for accomodations to fascism and gearing up for the fight that everyone could already see on the horizon.
The amazing movie propagates true democracy, "by the people for the people". Amazing, amazing movie !
Smacks of Noel Coward, what. Ach an' begorra Rex and Viv really sparked well, but, by far, Harrison the deeper actor. Thank you for sharing.
What a fantastic movie!
The truth is people are persecuted for going against the flow that is headed in the wrong direction. His Truth keeps marching on.

A perfectly silly story. Just the sort of thing I need in this world gone mad.
True That‼️
It's a wonerful story. Very funny. Great film.
Such a treat! This one made my heart smile 🤍
What a fun movie. Really enjoyed it.
The Brits have a way with drama, and understatement, that has no equal. This film sparkles.
So true!
The mob of dogs was hilarious!
Happy New Year Carol
What an awesome video Brother. You did it again! God bless you and your family. ❤
if only real life were like this......sigh
It's a film with actors.
Rex Harris is ruggedly handsome.
Harrison
Yes kinda, but his head looks too large for his thin body.
All the rugged actors are dead.
I was thinking the opposite, he was much more handsome as he got older. My Fair Lady and Midnight Lace are two movies he was much more handsome.
@@shirleyallen9108 How about Dr. Doolittle. Was he hot in that?
Thanks for the upload. I love ❤️ it
Great movie......🐕
Thank you,for such an enjoyable, fun, entertaining movie to see!! To think both actors would be Oscar winners for their respective roles" Ms.Leigh as Scarlet O'hara" Gone with the Wind," and Mr.Harrison as Henry Higgins in " My Fair Lady."
That was great. Thank you!
Very Enjoyable Movie ❤
Charming film, thank you for sharing!👋👋👋

Would be advisable to have all of our government leaders listen to that closing speech.

Real relaxing movie
Great clear print. Decent film. Thanks.
HINT: I expected the two of them to get married DURING the break in the court case, so she wdnt b charged with perjury. the river of dogs was hilarious!
The title didn’t convey this was a movie with a dog in it that might be put down. I couldn’t stop watching hung it, very intense, I won’t be a spoiler, I hope you watch it to see if power and tradition win, or if humanity prevails!
Una tempesta in un bicchiere d'acqua. Come dire: molto rumore per nulla.
He was such a nice looking chap and actor Dr. DOOLITTLE, I TRAVELED TO SAINT LUCIE AND SAW WHERE DR. DOOLITLE WAS FILMED 1974 THE PLASTIC FLOWERS WERE still AMONG THE PALMS!

Great movie.
I love Vivian Leigh's clothes. FUN!!
Very-good; Thank-You!
I would have enjoyed seeing a young David Niven in the role of the Journalist. ;)

Vivien Leigh, the greatest British actor....much better than her spouse, Larry Olivier.
He was still one of the very best ever! And at the time was considerred the 2nd best male, after his friend Ralph Richardson.
Very cute show!

What YEAR, please?
1937 My parents said it was too racy for me. Just kidding except for the release date. This is my first time seeing it. I do agree it is nice to know years released up front. Enjoy.

Ha e this on a dvd from Korea of all. Places, excellent film and what a young famous cast, it's serious and funny at sane time, and politics wise represents how things are still on 2024 nothing much changes wiyh politicians of any side sadly, there egos get in the way
Yes. Even the poster slogans are identical! BREXIT has destroyed much of what was good about the UK.
What year was that movie!??

What year was this filmed 😮❤

There s always a difference in the year that a movie was made and the year that it was actually in cinema. Most of the times it s the year after its release that it was in cinema. Especially in the old days.

The dog that was going to be put to sleep forever, killed for no good reason but the arrogance of the town's Provost, who was Vivien's dad in the film.
I don’t really understand the difference?! English or Scottish!?? Seems same to me!!?
Scotland has always had some of its own laws and administrative structure, and a natural rivalry with England.
Ah, no! Scotland has long fought for freedom from Perfidious Albion! I encourage you to read some history of the British, and of Ireland and of Scotland. A lot of great stories and battles!
So pretty
Fast talking, movie, hard to keep up. Missed some funny joking moments.

And I do it especially if I am watching an Asian movie. They speak really fast! (of course I'm watching these with closed captions).
