Amazing tips, these strategies made me win 12 out of 13 matches I currently had. I am about to have a match and I am looking forward to use these strategies.
Perfect lesson! Very good and good focus during the play....
Great advices. Thank You! :)
Hey! Thanks for the tips... I’m waiting for a video explaining the footwork at the court. Regards from Colombia 🇨🇴!
Thanks Ryan as you promised further singles strategy plays. I think that the quality of the shots makes the play - can’t wait to drill it 😀
Today I will try these strategies!! Thank you!!
Thank you. Please keep these wonderful videos coming.
So glad you liked the video!! Thank you!!!

Great tip! Thank you from Brazil🏆👍💪
So glad you liked the video JC
Great share...tyvm!
Really good strategy ,please let us know about more of them !
I think it's important to note that lower-level players (anybody below 4.0/4.5) won't be able to pull this off as well as the players in the example. We're not usually consistent enough to hit the ball hard enough in the right place to secure winners like they can. However, it's still a great strategy to take control of the point and tire your opponent out. If you execute it well but don't get the winner because you didn't hit hard enough, don't stress and just keep it up until your opponent makes a mistake or tires out.
sorry, but what is 4.0/4.5?
It’s a level of play. US rating system. It’s a high level of play.
@@2MinuteTennis thank you! And btw, I love your videos. They are super helpful and easy to understand!
I think that’s where the problem lies. American tennis is so hard on hitting shots with pace that placement is sometimes undermined. Variation of shots using depth rather than pace could be useful for us lower level players.
très bonne analyse. Merci beaucoup. respect from france ;-)
thank you again!
great tip.... thx
Great Video 🙏
Thanks so much Justin!
Thank you for the tip I’m playing singles for the first time today at my game so thanks 🙏
As a lefty I love 2-1. The key is developing an inside-out 2-handed backhand. You feign inside-in 2 hander and rip it behind them. I rarely get to hit the 1. Often takes 3-4 balls to finish fast players.
Wouldn't the strengths/weaknesses of the adversary be important factors? Backhand versus forehand quality is a VERY significant consideration:
I know my FH dominates most of my opponents' BH, and I am going to establish that shot from the start, cross-court and DTL, and they typically will shift their position bias to the left--to protect their weaker wing.
But once they do that, they open up a vulnerable forehand corner--and guess what? I start whipping some fast cross-court FH into that corner.
For me, it's not about a numerical combo, be it 1-1 or 2-1, it's Blitzkrieg or Marciano boxing: I want to attack, seize the initiative and focus my strength on their weakness BEFORE they get a chance to do it to me.
Ok thanks!
A guy I played last night just pulled this on me. He kept hitting the ball behind me. I eventually stayed put but man was it frustrating.
I need to cut down on my errors though. Half way through my matches, I forget to follow through with my forehand and put topspin. I want so badly to be a 4.5! I’d say I’m an average 3.5.
its always more natural to hit across court in tennis, that includes the attack shot. so yea i would guard that more. done the line shots take a lot of guts and execution.
You should factor in the court position in these shot selections since in a real match situation like in the above examples it is often not the theoretical 50-50 middle you get the ball but on either side of the middle which supports a cross-court shot selection compared to a purely neutral situation down the middle ceteris paribus. ;-)
Great explanation. So what should I do against these strategies? I want to think with negative logic.
Make sure you recover back toward the middle while facing forward and make a great split step as your opponent hits. That way you can change direction easily if needed. Thanks!!
Hi, in the example of min 7:20, the server really missed the split step right (he splits too late)? if he would have done it right, he might have reached the second drive.
Can we hit 2 3 or more ? and why ?
Ahh the 2-1, aka the tennis crossover. I have broken a few ankles with that one.
Haha Lol you mean as the receiver right?.
@@hassanabbas4377 I do not
At 3:50 Cal could have tried a drop shot to the BH side also - i think the UCLA ball was sitting up just softly enough to try a deft drop. These guys are VG. I like the serve of the UCLA player. Are these guys 5.0?
Probably more like 5.5. They’re very high level. And yes, just like when we play, there are always shots/situations we’d like to do over again.
@@2MinuteTennis I do not watch many amateur matches - really why when I could watch Marcelos Rios, Radwanska, Nalbandian etc... This is the highest quality amateur match with excellent POV vantage point and I like the take back on UCLA serve, you can tell he is a coiled spring ready to blast that serve.
I don't get significance of these hitting patterns. Hitting a higher % of shots cross-court for consistency is understandable, but concentrating on how many shots you hit to each side seems to lock you into a pattern that may not suit the situation and/or your ability to execute the shot. Seems like it's more natural to pick when to hit to which side, based on the conditions of the point, staying aware of when you're being too predictable.
What happened if my opponent do it to me??? What strategy I have to do????
what if my opponent used this strategy against me. What I will do on that time😅😅😅😅😅😅😮😮😮😮😮😮😢😢😢😢😢😢💔
yeah...if you can continuously hit hard to each corners without making mistakes, of course, 1-1 or 2-1 will work. Actually, why bother... just keep hitting any corners without any mistakes at all. then, you will win 6-0 for sure.
Thanks so much alex. Appreciate the support. 🎾😊👍
@@2MinuteTennis i am sure that UCLA players already know what to do with the balls or 1-1 or 2-1 ...etc strategies. but the majority is below 4.5 club level. It would be very difficult to pull this off every single time. probably you would make more mistakes going for the corners with each shots. that is the truth.
Thanks for your comments. Seriously, I very much appreciate what you’re saying.
@@2MinuteTennis just because you have been very prompt and super nice commenting, I just changed from thumbs down to thumbs UP. thanks and keep up the good work. by the way, if you can upload some good tactics for common people (I am 4.5 level), I would appreciate it very much. take care.
Wow. Well I very much appreciate that. So thank you. I always appreciate comments and I’ll def be uploading more singles content soon. Thanks again. 🎾😊👍
1 1. 2 1... Simply just go for strong shots in diagonale. See on the video... player on top went for big FH cross court. The other player could not hit cross court and also played too short. And it was done... He was behind in the rally... Playing short down the line opens too many options to the opponent
Pretty sure i know which UCLA player that was but I can’t tell...
Ryan, the 2-1 strategy is kind of wrong-footing your opponent
u dont need to see this ur content its great but if you cant auto do the tactics on your head you cant win a point
huh?
This video is non sense
I appreciate you watching it Jay
