  • In 1964, Barbara Cook starred in the flop (15 performances) "Something More!," and it was to be Cook's only Broadway show to go unrecorded. Songs were by Sammy Fain and the Bergmans. Here are Cook's four solos: "Better All the Time"; "No Questions Asked" (the best of them); "I Feel Like New Year's Eve"; and "One Long Last Look." These numbers are from one of the earliest known live audience tapes; an attempt has been made to adjust the speed and enhance the sound.

What a wonderful surprise to hear these solos performed by Barbara Cook from "Something More." Check those high notes at the end of "I Feel Like New Year's Eve" and "One Long Last Look." The poster art above is a little fuzzy but yes, this production was directed by none other than Jule Styne!

Her singing here is unfailingly wonderful, and in music fairly different from the kind she usually sang, at least on Broadway. Very glad you enjoyed.

Why there isnt an oficial recording of Something More. The songs are very beautiful. Vive a Lindford is the photo but it was Joan Copeland who was on stage with Barbara Cook and Arthur Hill
