So true. The scale of the story grows bigger every movie. First just a group of 9 companions, then a kingdom full of horsemen and then an even bigger kingdom which is also the homeland of the king.
I had just turned 16 when this movie came out- I saw it twice on opening day!. I remember the chills I got when at the 2:00 minute mark Gandalf and Shadowfax run to fend off the Nazgul. I had tears streaming down my cheeks. It was so beautiful. Love this movie and the incredible score that goes with it.
I agree absolutely. I imagine this piece for the richest city in history. Constantinople... In our language Κωνσταντινούπολη. That means The city of Great Constantine!
2:00 Solo (Sindarin): Sílant calad Dûn Tollen Rochon 'Lân Choir after solo part: Mennen nored dîn Gwanwen i 'ûr bân Translation: A light shone in the west - The White Rider had come. Their race was over; All courage gone.
1:15 Part (Sindarin): ú natha ored Gwanwen ost in giliath Dannen Osgiliath Translation: There will be no warning The citadel of the stars is gone Osgiliath is fallen
This track still gives me goosebumps just like when I saw the Return of The King in the theater and Gandalf raises his staff in the fields of Pellinor to ward off the wraiths.
I was still in grade school during the prime run of this film. Great times... even though I never saw it in cinema. Oh wait! I just did back in June, the extended edition! It was great! Now I can say I have lol😂 what a time
LOVE LOVE this piece, Renee Fleming's part at 2:00 was one of those moments in a film where you are so engrossed in what you are seeing and this plays (as Gandalf shines his light) and you feel every hair on your body stand on end from the awe of it.
When I found this song for the first time, after desperately looking all over for it on the web the day after I finally saw the movie in the cinema, I put it to its loudest settings and closed my eyes. It's awe-and then-some more. 2:36 rocks my socks off.
The moment when Gandalf's staff lets out that eternal light in conformity with the Nazgul approaching and the voice of the orchestra singer, absolutely breathtaking, the light shall defeat the darkness.
Howard Shore, you are the most brilliant composer ever. And I don't care WHAT people say about how NO one would've have music if it weren't for Beethoven and all those cooks in wigs. The thing is, Howard Shore probably would've set a higher standard. Great vid, once again. 2:35 from the end is my favorite part! "Minas Tirith. City of Kings."
Two things I love about this track in particular: the contrast between the angelic voice, with its hushed, sad tone, and that menacing thump of...I don't know, piano? which breaks out twice, as if to symbolize the danger that Gondor is facing as a kingdom. And, secondarily, how much the music, in the scene corresponding to the arrival of Gandalf and Pippin in Minas Tirith, recalls the triumphant notes of a great civilization, which however is withering year after year.
These films are ever evolving. Havign first seen them when I was 8-9-10, all I saw was the magic and the beautiful scenery and such. . . I feel like each time I watch them I take something different from them, especially ten years later, where I understand the magnitude of the sacrifices and the relationships between the characters, I must revisit the books, I read them in third grade (by read I mean. . .sat there looking at them trying to read them)
wow! so many scenes flashed before my face! First: Orcs assault osgiliath ( 0:00-0:53 ) "To the river Quick!", Second: Gandalf riding to gondor with Merry sleeping ( 0:54-1:15 ) "We now passed into the realm of Gondor!", Third: Osgiliath overrun "Tell the men to break company, we ride for Minas Tirith", ( 1:16-1:37 ) Fourth: The sight and entrace of the White city ( 1:38-1:52 ), Fifth: Gandalf lights of the nazguls ( 1:39-2:37 ) And last: The entrance of Minas Tirith ( 2:38-3:38 )
This has got to be one of my most favorite soundtracks from this movie. Epic, awesome, adventurous, this soundtrack is awesome. Thumbs up if you agree.
So many crescendos in this! Love the flow of the Gondorian themes... The last minute of this track always gives me chills.. when Gandalf and Pippin are entering the White City...
It's like my favorite scene from the entire trilogy. When the camera shows Gandalf riding on Shadowfax -to aid the fleeing Gondorians- and then zooms to the White City in the background... What an amazing take from PJ...
I Was 9 Years Old When this Film Came out I kept Playing The First Trailer NonStop until I finally Saw it. it Was a Great Movie Once the Oscars came out I didn’t expect it to win a lot But After it did I Took the Film out again on VHS and it was absolutely Phenomenal And Deserving Of those Oscars 👍🏻👍🏻
oh right man yeah Star Wars! and also Harry Potter,Indiana Jones,Jurassic Park,Hook,E.T,Schindler's List,War Of The Worlds,Superman,Close Encounters Of The Third Kind,Home Alone,Saving Private Rayan,Jaws and many others :D
Watched Attack on Titan and this was the first thing that came to mind. In other news: Love this song, Love the trilogy, and I love the Hobbit! Mr. Jackson, you are the only person that seems to be capable of bringing fantasy to life.
the brass section and the soaring trumpets capture the essensce of Minas Tirith as a city of Men rising above middle earth below it. 1:39 you can just imagine the flags waving in the wind upon the white walls
So many tracks from the soundtracks have lyrics, here the one for Minas Tirith Sindarin Revail vyrn dan minuial ú galad, ú vin anor hen Cano an dregad ú natha ored Gwanwen ost in giliath Dannen Osgiliath

I wouldn't go so far to say that he is by far the greatest, considering that there are others such as Hans Zimmer and John Williams, but he is definately among the best =]
I seriously cannot believe how ANYONE could EVER dislike Lord of the Rings music, it just seems impossible to think it's bad in any way. They have to have mistaken it for the like button, because it is impossible to hate Lord of the Rings. I-m-p-o-s-s-i-b-l-e.
First movie, music of the fellowship. Second movie, music of Rohan. Third movie, music of Gondor.
adamushu truly, howard is a genius

Howard Shore is a legend.

what about that?

arguably my favorite part of any score ever
Bro that’s like 7-8 hrs with the previews 😵💫
Best scene in the entire trilogy. I wish I was there in the cinema
It is actually not possible to make a piece that better fits the glory of Gondor
The White Tree
It sounds odd, but in a way you can feel Boromir in this song
I agree absolutely. I imagine this piece for the richest city in history. Constantinople... In our language Κωνσταντινούπολη. That means The city of Great Constantine!
@@osergergfd2501 yessss xD
@@Παναγιώτης777 Long love the City of Constantine!
The entire piece is out of this world, especially the second half. 2:45 to 2:55 is the height of epicness.
AMEN. Goosebumps every single time that suspended cymbal completes the roll!
I fully agree
2:54 makes me just want to start epicly riding shadowfax across the plains of gondor
god speed
1:37 shivers down my spine
Track "The Grace of Undómiel" (03:37) - еnjoy yourself

+CABAL Bruh thats deep lol
+CABAL Except the poem was written so the secodn part was before the first.
+CABAL The beauty of this is that the solo is played in the movie when Gandalf rides out to chase away the Nazgul.
Name of the singer?

Absolutely.
@@jp3813 agreed not a single film, best trilogy ever, then back to the future
2:35 until the end is the best
heck yea
#frenchhorn
one of my fav tracks from the entire soundtrack
My favorite theme from all three movies.
2:04 gives me absolute chills. It's the purest and most innocent note in this otherwise dark and epic score.
From 2:55. Manly tears.
+jedr1989 much pain
1:37 CHILLS ahhhhhhhhh
These horns.... I can see the white city by hearing them
Minas Tirith...city of kings
This track still gives me goosebumps just like when I saw the Return of The King in the theater and Gandalf raises his staff in the fields of Pellinor to ward off the wraiths.

1:37 EPIC!!!! I got goosebumps just listening to the build up to that part.

1:37 just brings to mind the sound you would here if you looked at the pinnacle of civilization and power. Beautiful!
When I found this song for the first time, after desperately looking all over for it on the web the day after I finally saw the movie in the cinema, I put it to its loudest settings and closed my eyes. It's awe-and then-some more. 2:36 rocks my socks off.
These men I created are wonderful, I applaud you for building my world even more diverse! Elves too!
When sould escapes body that´s what this is. Im always in tears listening to this and then Im super calm for few days !
Aragorn: I do not know what strength is in my blood, but I swear to you I will not let the White City fall, nor our people fail ...
“Our people......”
Be at peace, son of Gondor.
Who didn't like this?
I think this is the best soundtrack ever made.
1:15
Best part of this track.
The moment when Gandalf's staff lets out that eternal light in conformity with the Nazgul approaching and the voice of the orchestra singer, absolutely breathtaking, the light shall defeat the darkness.
1:37 at MAX VOL.

"Minas Tirith. City of Kings."
I've lost count of how many times I've replayed the part from 2:35 to the end. Very epic indeed.
20 years and I still got the chills
Goosebumps.. Goosebumps everywhere
One of the most impressive and formidable scenes of the movie. Makes my skin go goose pimples.
2:55-3:37 is my second favorite LOTR melody.
***** 0:28-0:55 of "Urik-Kai" From the two towers :P
Two things I love about this track in particular: the contrast between the angelic voice, with its hushed, sad tone, and that menacing thump of...I don't know, piano? which breaks out twice, as if to symbolize the danger that Gondor is facing as a kingdom. When my children are born, I want this to be playing in the background.
Then you’ll have the most epic kids ever.
Play it when their mother is giving birth

Love this soundtrack!
Please keep other movies and books out of this.
1:03 the theme doesn't reveal itself, but turns a dissonant chord in the brass ;)
Watched Attack on Titan and this was the first thing that came to mind.
In other news: Love this song, Love the trilogy, and I love the Hobbit! Mr. Jackson, you are the only person that seems to be capable of bringing fantasy to life.
1:37 is my favourite bit
3:00 - 3:09 I can literally hear "We just passed through the realm of Gondor!" in my head
Holy shit.
No other Soundtrack will ever have that Impact on me, than LotR did. Howard Shore's work is simply brilliant.
IT'S THE WHITE RIDER!!
the brass section and the soaring trumpets capture the essensce of Minas Tirith as a city of Men rising above middle earth below it.
1:39 you can just imagine the flags waving in the wind upon the white walls
LONG LIVE THE KING!
Woah. You even put Austin Wintory there. You deserve my thumbs up.
Best theme ever
Probably, the most majestic music I've ever heard.
#2:00
Angel Voice !
White rider is coming for enemies 😎✊✌

I just finished reading the lotr series and it gets better every time.
LOTR has the best soundtrack in existence.
So many tracks from the soundtracks have lyrics, here the one for Minas Tirith

There will be no warning
The citadel of the stars is gone
Osgiliath is fallen
Their race was over;
All courage gone.
A light shone in the west -
The White Rider had come.
"Actually it's best if you say nothing at all, actually."
love this because of starting at 1:27 is when the beacons are lit; always one of the best parts of rotk
Actually it's when Gandalf arrives at Minas Tirith with Pippin. Lighting of the beacons is in The White Tree soundtrack.
"I am no female! You look upon a boy Soprano!"
I'm sorry nerdiest joke ever.
Never say sorry
One of the Best Soundtracks!!!
0:54 starts the great part.
This theme is so majestic especially towards the end. You listen to it and you'll feel as if the King has indeed returned.
"It's the White Rider!"
LOTR trilogy remains one of the best classics ever written. The films and music will go down in history too.
City of Kings!!!

1:15 turn up your volume a lot, you're welcome
+Cossim duggun You mean 2:01 ?

He was twitching
this song gives me massive gooooseeee bumps!!!!
This song won a "Best Theme" from GoldSpirit Awards. I'd say it was well-earned
I wouldn't go so far to say that he is by far the greatest, considering that there are others such as Hans Zimmer and John Williams, but he is definately among the best =]
1:16!

2:01 epic

The city of kings
1:36 makes you understand that Gondor might be not in its former glory...but also that Minas Tirith is the City of King for a reason.
Harry Potter is in diapers compared to LOTR!!!!!!
There is literally zero comparison to Harry Potter and lotr
There is no greater or better writer than Tolkien that was never a question
Absolutely LOVELY!!!!
