I had the pleasure of having Brian as guest of honour at a show I put on at The Dalmeny hotel Lytham St Annes 10 yrs ago, Tim Witherspoon was the main event but I was very proud to give the guests an insight into Brians career, wonderful evening.
Brian London one of Britains finest boxers only overshadowed by the great Henry Cooper. Both were true gentlemen . Sad his funeral wasnt paid more attention to so thanks for this small tribute to a truly lovely man and great sportsman. No mugs would ever have made it into a ring with Ali .
Thanks for the video. I used to live close to Brian London and one day I walked past and he was on a sun lounger by the front door...a very respectable boxing career...RIP Brian.
Sad day 😞 used to say Hello to Brian every time I saw him in town .always came back with the same reply 'Alright Son .always smartly dressed Sleep well Mate RIP a Legend
Extremely sad to hear of Brian's passing. He was very likeable and was the epitome of a gentle giant. I played football with him for Layton institute many years ago before he went to Foxhall juniors, very fond memories.
Great achievement to have been in the ring with Muhammad ali.whoever bought Brian’s home, got a piece of blackpool history. A blue plaque would be in order.
Oh no I really liked Brian me my dad supported him when he fought classics clay. I remember when his daughter visited st Anthony s youth club many years ago I really fancied her. RIP Brian you was my hero.
😂😂 Brings back good memories Trevor, I was at Weeton Camp with the Lancashire Fusiliers, in the mid sixties, and often went to Brian London’s club. The hard part was getting back to Weeton after closing time after spending all our money on beer. We often done a runner from the taxi, I remember me and Vince Moon having a fight with one taxi driver. and he came to the NAFFI @ Weeton Camp the following night looking for us, and most probably his fare 😂 I recognised him but luckily he didn’t recognise me.
Missed you again Ugh. I've enabled notifications so I can tune in from New Zealand. My Nan in London used to watch the wrestling every Saturday afternoon on the black and white rental TV and used to get really worked up at the BADDY wrestlers LOL Mick McManus and the rest, she used to shout and wave her fists and say Get Out-A-Vit Go On Get Out LOL We never batted an eyelid as little kids LOL The 60s was kinda Groovy. See you on your next Live walkabout Steven. Have a brilliant day when Wednesday hits Blackpool 😎🙃
Jimmy Greaves has told the tale how Brian had the team drinking till 4 in the morning. They lost to Blackpool. Greavesy thought Brian sabotaged them on purpose.
Was the park named after the most famous Stanley there has ever been? Being a Londoner, I remember queuing up behind Brian as we waited for admittance to see the premiere of the film 'The Longest Day' back in 1961.
Brian owned the car sales yard on the corner of Lytham road and ? where the fire station was in South Shore I lived in Hill st and passed it all the time going to the shops for Mum he would always say Hi or nod and wink real good bloke
The last time I saw Brian was when I was having my hair cut in Raikes barbers on Church Street about two years ago. He came in but his usual barber wasn't in, so he didn't stay long, but he put his hand on my shoulder and said ''she's doing a good job there'' about my haircut! What a larger than life character he was. Does anyone know if he was buried at Carleton or cremated?
When I was preparing for my Fitness Test for work, the most I could manage was two circuits of the park before my legs and lungs screamed "Please Stop". Was Brian London's house the one with the ornate sand blown windows near the Traffic Lights? Its also nice to see two "Pet Rescue" trucks on Blue Lights going somewhere. It helps eliminate Bed Sores developing. 😂🤣 That ambulance was a Preston crew, stuck in the gravitational pull of a busy Blackpool. We may be a small town but we are exceptionally busy and its not unusual to have crews as far afield as Morcambe or further.
@@michaelcampin1464 Yes, East Park Drive is where the ambulance was head in the video. It leads to Victoria Hospital. The two fire engines where headed down South Park Drive.
My dad was a teacher at what had only just stopped being Blackpool Grammar School to become a high school. He told me about how he, middle aged, about 5' 6" and 10 stone challenging Jack for picking on another boy. Then is dawned on my dad that at 15 Jack towered over him, oh heck!....... but Jack backed down and apologized ...... Brian's influence on his son?
@@andymoore9977 oh ok , I know he fought a fellow who went on to be British champion, there is a documentary about that Paul Sykes on here and I’m sure the fights on there, so I will check when I get a minute later tonight 👍... it was a bloke called gardener who he fought , my apologies,
