- Nest #3 is located in the Satakunta region in Western Finland. Ospreys have nested there in 1997 and from 2002 to 2009. Other Ospreys are nesting there at this time.
NO ME HABRÍA IMAGINADO EL NIVEL Y MOTIVO DE TANTA AGRESIVIDAD CONTRA SU MADRE ... LO CONSIDERO UN ABUSO.
“CRÍA CUERVOS Y TE SACARÁN LOS OJOS”.
That's part of the reason they are considered RAPTORS. ua-cam.com/users/clipUgkxiM98AO-bo7aekBu6M8teOHCsSb2g7FNF
Que valentía com a mãe!
It's hungry
@@DjMicr0dot It's not hungry. It has a bulging crop which means it's quite full.
@@Innuendoes,..hence the term "FEELING PECKISH"
Your@@Innuendoesabsolutely right....😒 however it did start after just waking up & deficating in the middle of the tantrum. I'm not an expert, but bowel movements usually are quite suggestive,....
you posted this and maybe you have some better insight.
Well, this chick is lucky that it is not a storklet in stork nest
Yes... really
OMG! I laughed out loud. Good one~
Too funny😂😂
So true…stork nests can be a horror show. This osprey chick is maybe just hungry, I can’t really see if his crop is empty. If a storklet acted like this there’s a good chance the parent would break his neck, tear him to pieces and feed him to his siblings, then stick his head on a pole, just like in Lord of the Flies, 😂😅🤣 (ok, I made that last bit up but still…storks are demonic.
@@silvermainecoons3269 TRUE WORDS! The first time I saw them on UA-cam, I was mortified! I had zero interest in watching them again. I can still see that little head on a Pole ☺️ Good one 😜
Great video. Glad this one doesn’t have siblings! Mom’s reaction is priceless!
Mom should’ve given it a hard peck back, to teach a lesson. No messing with momma. He’s not hungry, has a full crop.
He needs to be thrown out of nest
I totally agree!
This is surely a teenage chick. Got up on the wrong side of bed, fought all day with mom and in the end was sorry and wanted love and a hug. We parents have all been there. Ospreys I guess are no exception. Great video.
that parent is being lazy and the lil beast is hungry so its trying to make it order out
Osprey chicks do this with each other quite often. It's an assertion of dominence and the chick has no sibling to fight with or attempt to dominate so it is dominate it's parent, instead. They will also attack when food is delivered. Like this. ua-cam.com/video/ZGotER76xEA/v-deo.html
Could potentially kill the mom.
I wanted to see mom smack it into submission.
@@Innuendoes I didn’t know that. 👍🏾😊
Never seen such an aggressive behavior of a chick against own mother.
Hope the other two eggs don’t get hatched. This chick is going to kill them for sure.
I've seen similar behaviour at the Australian osprey nest until recently.
Gender confusion 😂😂😂
Mom can't even incubate the eggs.. How did this ospret get so big? Beautiful mom.. She's heroic ❣️❣️❣️She seems as perplexed as we do.. 😟 The last scene was sweet🌹
I’m guessing this one hatched and so she started prioritizing feeding and the other eggs just never hatched. And yeah, the look on her face is priceless.
Hi Kathleen,
Just noticed you commented here.
I have a rather lengthy description of this nest's history, in a comment to "jmb" which is showing about 4 down from your comment. I was replying to this person's question about how this chick was doing today.
I cannot copy it here with the device I'm using, at this moment. But, I would love to hear your take on the data, etc., whenever you have some time.
So, many nests and situations! Lol!
The reaction of this adult is very funny, especially, the little "discussion" they had. Lol! Hilarious! 😂
I was on hold on a call and just browsing and came across a 2018 video of a hawklet brought into an eagle's nest, that LH had posted years ago. That hawklet didn't have Malala's good fortune, unfortunately.
But, I'm beginning to think that these "live" prey are possibly being brought in as training for the eaglets, as it's happening a lot and not just with hawklets. They learn to kill their prey, perhaps? (Just a thought!)
Anyway, I will try to import my response here when I get on another device, etc.
See you around the nests! 😻
Have a blessed day❣️
eggs are not viable and it's a good thing they didn't hatch looking at this osplet behaviour!
Oddly enough this was the first and only time this chick attacked the mom like this. Dominance move? Maybe. Probably just woke up from a nightmare lmao
The only chick, no siblings to attack, so attack the mum. But the mum did not attack back and did not fly away. The mum should just leave the chick alone and see how it behaves next time.
This is the first time I see that behaviour in an osprey chick... It would be very good to rule out any neurological disease or viral infection.
I also warn about the presence of infertile eggs still in the nest, they are a latent danger: they explode like firecrackers.
They do it all the time. ua-cam.com/video/ZGotER76xEA/v-deo.html
Man, a lot of questions on this one. Why didn't mom take corrective action? Do they ever take corrective action? Would this harm the development of baby somehow? Did mom fly back with something? Why did the baby change it's attitude? There's a lot going on here that we can learn from.
I agree. I know an eagles nest, the same thing happened and the father bird gave the chick a couple good bonks and that solved that issue.
Umm don’t attack the beak that feeds you, buddy. 😂
I am thinking that the chick is confused...many first born chicks that are birds of pray will attack younger siblings, and some will kill younger siblings, to eliminate competition for food..parent birds will protect their chicks from other predators but not with siblings...She may have laid the eggs late and they will not hatch...he had no sibling to fight with......now he is old enough that his fight for food instinct is very strong, and may be a combination of begging for food from mom.... to thinking mom is a sibling he should fight off, to gain more food....they only have various instincts that kick in as time goes by...
She did leave...then came back..and his instincts re- booted some and he settled..It will be very bad luck if the younger eggs hatch...he will dominate them for sure...I have watched a video and an older chick killed a younger one...the mom eventually covered it up with grass and moss and kept feeding the ones left...
when more chick hatches it will die quick. the age difference is way to high
Thank you for posting this video. It is technically superior and the author’s answers to questions and comments are clear and prompt. Keep posting 🙏
You're very welcome!
Why is mom not correcting her?
Unless it's another osprey 🤔.Thank goodness that the other 2 didn't hatch🙂
I think this little girl is hungry and she's very restless, she wants Mommy to give her some food!! 😋🐟🐟💕🙏
except the crop is full and you have no facts that would support this claim.
@@yurbusted22 I do not think her crop is full. Maybe she is still hungry, even if she was fed by her mother! Anything is possible, we are not there, together with them in the nest!
@@yurbusted22 Many times the skin of the under throat is often dilated and, if you also consider the feathers of the animal, it is difficult to establish, at least on the basis of a simple video, whether the crop is completely full; so, it is easy to fall into error. Now i ask myself : why does this beautiful little girl protest aggressively towards her mother?? Surely she must have a good reason!! But which? Best Regards.
The chick's crop was quite full. It didn't need to eat more food at that time.
@@mariucciap80
What in the world are you talking about ? Lol, her crop looks full.
I watched a eaglet do this to mom and dad as there was still an egg on the nest. The eaglet would brood that sibling egg as if it was its own. (it never hatched 🐣) That may be what’s happening here, that baby doesn’t want Mom near those eggs.
Yes
@@LahainaKat124 no.
It’s 10 past 12, and no lunch yet! When mom remained adamant, tried to reconcile. 🤪
So is there an egg under the chick i dont that will hatch peacefully
Chick has a large crop…not hungry. Would love to hear how they are doing today!
Yeah, what is THIS behavior about? I’ve never seen this before.
The eggs in the nest
The chick was banded and has a silver band on its right ankle.
The dad's band is silver on his left ankle.
This chick is most likely a female, based upon that, but, there wasn't an English translation.
It was considerably more grown up looking and well taken care of.
The dad brings in large fish and waits for mom to eat and feed the chick. He then takes the remainder of the fish and leaves. I have seen him do this more than once.
This adult that the chick is "warning" away, does not have any band. Other videos do not show the mom with a band, either, but the descriptions state that the dad's mate, since 2021, has a band on its right ankle. Confusing!
The mom in other videos has more white on her shoulder areas, which is consistent with the second adult that came to the nest and the chick had no aggression towards.
The dad is the current "owner" of the nest and there have been at least two females that he has had as mates.
This is a man made nest that was redone and discovered by the dad in 2019. He and his mate had the nest until dad returned and his mate did not.
I don't know why.
But, the nest was taken over by a new pair. Dad fought to regain the nest and the female stayed with him. That was in 2021. That female was banded in 2018. So, she is young and dad does watch part of the feedings to make sure the chick is being taken care of.
So, if this is the mom in the entire video, she could have done something, based upon inexperience, that riled the chick. When the chick got aggressive, she couldn't handle the situation, although there was a "scolding" or a "retaliation conversation", lol, that took place, also, perhaps, based upon inexperience.
If anyone cares to take screens shots of all the real mom images in the various videos of this nest, feeding the chick at different ages and with the dad in the nest at the same time (search Finland Osprey nest #3, 2022) they can compare the markings to this "attacked" adult, and, hopefully, let us know what they find.
Based upon a quick scan and the markings of the second adult that had no problem with the chick, I would be suspect that the first adult could be a previous mate of the dad's that for some reason was missing and returned after the dad took a new mate.
That sometimes happens and if it's two males, they would most likely fight it out.
If it was found that the "attacked" adult was an intruder, it wouldn't be a surprise.
If I find any other info, I will post it here.
I hope other readers will do the same.
Have a blessed day! 😻
@@CuriousCat787 This Osplet was attacking its mother. Ospreys don’t brood other Ospreys eggs. Your looong story sounded good though.. 👍🏾 Red Wing explained this behavior in a comment above.
Look at the top of her head. All markings, on “both” adults, are exactly the same. The chest area too! She has a lot of brown. (During attack and afterwards). It’s the same bird. 😊
Have a blessed day! 🐣
@@CuriousCat787 Btw, why ask people to take screenshots? Call me dumb but if they did, how are they supposed to post pics to UA-cam?
“Dad watches the chick to make sure it’s being taken care of?” I’ve never heard of such a thing. Is this a normal behavior for Ospreys? How do you know that’s what he’s doing? A lot of Dads hang out at the nest after bringing food. A lot of times, they will take back what the Osplets and mom doesn’t want and go eat it himself. Sometimes, he’ll even try taking the fish back from mom before they’re done eating too.
I’m not being smart, just curious. 🤷🏾♀️
Hay continuacion de hechos reales? O me fastian cuando termina sin ver como termina vaya
ЕСТЬ ЛИ ПРОДОЛЖЕНИЕ ФИЛЬМА???
I’m thinking that’s an intruder adult female, scoping out the nest and not the mother who returned at the end. Chick was bravely defending the nest from the intruder and was cuddling affectionately when the real mother arrived.
You are right, 1st female look nothing like the second. As soon as 2nd female arrived baby laid down
And i believe the mother would have acted with more authority if attacked by her chick. This female keeps looking around to see if the real mother is coming back to the nest. Definitely knows shes not supposed to be there.
What's with the eggs
Poor mama putting up with that
Great video!
The look on her face….”the fuq?”
It's finish but not the end🐣
Now the mom is seriously ruing her decision of not hatching other eggs! She still has some hopes left
Every village must have its headman; every needle must have its manufacturer and craftsman.
And, as you know, every letter must be written by someone.
How, then, can it be that so extremely well-ordered a kingdom should have no ruler?

Missing dad?
they are so fierce
Better be glad he isn't a stork chick.....he would have been out the nest!!
Reminds me of the way some kids treat their human parents today! No respect! Good thing those 2 eggs didn’t hatch or she’d have trouble X3! 😮
Pretty sure the chick wants mom or dad to go get food
This chick needs to go hungry for a day
Another real life angry bird lol
This child fits right in with the youth of today. SMDH
It wants food from mother.
At this age, they will chase their parents for food. Seen this before, parents brought one fish for two eaglets at this age, one caught it and claimed the fish, the other eaglets got nothing and started chase its parent like this.
What the heck! 😳 youngin has a full crop. Bipolar? 🙄🤨😂🤨
This chick is crazy. Afaik, chicks imprints to their mother. Unless this is not its mother or someone just put this chick on this nest, not sure though. But very nice content this is new to us.
That's one very hungry chick!
Not hungry it's crop full
i think its bored and has to much energy. its solo, noone to play
처음은 어미가 아니였네
둥지를 사용 할려고 보니 새끼하고 알이 있어서
고민 하고 있었나 봅니다
The chick is not attacking mom just begging to be fed
The chick has a very full crop. It wasn't hungry. It was at the age when raptor chicks are often agressive.
第一次见小鹰还没飞离巢,母鹰又下了蛋,为什么呢?!这样母鹰很难做!😔
The mother did not lay eggs, again. She laid 3 eggs and 2 of them never hatched. This is a common thing in bird nests. I have seen some Osprey (she is an Osprey, not an Eagle!) whee none of the eggs hatched at all. One nest I follow still has 2 eggs in it that will never hatch, just like these in this video. The mother did lay 3 eggs but one of them exploded!
@@Innuendoes exploded!?!?!! 😮
это старые яйца, первый вылупился, уже большой, а другим не суждено было.
That's not their chik i think.
Typical Teenager hahaha, and she's saying wait till your father comes home hahaha
😂😂😂
Though fierce from the beginning last few minutes show cool chick.
It seems little guy don’t want mother to sit on the egg n produce little brothers
Pretty dumb bird. Why if it’s not hungry?
Kids spending way too much time on social media…
It must be really hungry
Such an angry bird.
ลูกนกเค้าจะเอาอะไร ทำไม เค้าเก้าร้าวใส่แม่เค้าล่ะ หรือเค้าหิว
BTW:: I’m very concerned about the possible siblings with this one..
The other eggs were due to hatch 3 weeks ago or so. There is no way they are hatching at this point.
@@Innuendoes Thank you for information on those remaining eggs..👋
The mom supposed to work harder and provide food. The chicks grow faster by eating to grow furthers to fly
No, the mother is supposed to stay with the chick and protect it from predators and the father is suppoed to provide the food. You're not looking closely. The chick's crop is so big, it can't hold more food in the first place. This is typical raptor behavior but they ususually beat up on their siblings. This chick had no siblings to beat up.
YIKES! What did poor mama do??😆
This is not so untypical of raptor chick behavior.
