Actually turtles with open hearts aren't that rare (it happens once maybe twice but still not very likely) it's just breeders determined that they won't have a safe or comfortable life so they will keep it and see if they can keep it alive or give it a lethal shoot. Also albino turtles aren't that rare there are actually a good number of breeders who breed albino turtles.

Well a pet to watch as I grow old and go into a home. "Hope"fully she'll outlive me. (I'm 59) you are doing a wonderful job with her. Is there a point in her life when she'll get a cover over her hole? Maybe something glued somehow so it can be replaced as she grows?
@Valerie Soul It could be possible to glue a steel wire or two over the hole so it kinda works like a roll cage, without trapping dirt in there. But it doesn't seem like it's necessary, since the heart is further inside her shell as she's been growing, and the skin also seems to be significantly thicker so yeah, I think she's fine as she is. Also, the guy looks like he's in his early 30's, which means if she lives a full life, old age might even take them about the same time, which is kind of the best you can hope for with a pet that you love.
With every beat of her's, my heart pounds. I don't know but she's the world's prettiest turtle I've ever seen. I'll pray for her long life and would thank the person who is taking care of her so lovingly. 🙏🏻😌

I did something somewhat similar. I bought two skinny leopard geckos from Petco ( Petco doesn’t properly care for animals ) and made them healthy. I wouldn’t buy them because buying more geckos will make them get more but I felt bad for them
@@gultenpan8689 I feel like that depends I feel like it would be a gross over statement to say the whole company if petco is not very well with there animal welfare. I've been too really nice small ones whee the animals always look healthy and well fed with clean enclosures and aren't completely packed with eachother. Though I will say this is with smaller individual stores the larger buildings seem to be less responsible in terms of taking care of the animals.

It’s happened in a human before as well; a baby was born with his heart outside his body, and while they were able to put it back inside his chest, they couldn’t place it beneath the rib cage because there wasn’t enough room for it (another part of the birth defect), so they placed it just below the rib cage near the sternum. As a result, he has to wear a special breastplate on his chest to protect his heart from injury since it doesn’t have the natural protection of the ribs; and you can actually see it beating beneath his skin when he takes off the breastplate.

If you look closely it does look like she has a thin, clear skin or membrane covering her exposed heart. If her heart and organs were truly exposed i don't think any amount of cleaning of her water would make a difference or that she would have even survived her egg. The first bathroom she did in her water would doom her and her organs would have likely gotten waterlogged. But its still impressive, she would still likely require daily water changes and a lot of attention. Its no wonder she loves her owner so much and kudos to him for giving her that chance that nature would have never allowed her.
Hope is so cute, thanks for taking care 0f this wonderful little creature. You are doing good in the world because of her, she's surviving because you give her the best possible conditions to live in. Amazing how you have a bond with this tiny thing.

@@meriwilliams1217 go for it lol I do biodiversity talks at schools and it’s the easiest way to describe to young children features and how to identify what kind of habitat they would need to thrive , hopefully it prevents mishaps in the future because there was this young lady’s few years ago on TikTok that made a video of herself finding a tortoise crossing the road where she states “if you find a turtle crossing the road help it” she then threw it into a river ,sadly it wasn’t just a land crawly tortoise it was also a critically endangered species :( there was a follow up video where she was quite upset having found out the turtle was very likely dead because of her intervention . So if remembering swimmy vs land crawly features helps save any future herps I’m all for it =^_^=

Aww I'm crying. I have rescued disabled dogs and cats for 25 + years. Unlike people disability is not a cause of depression or despair. Animals fight and do not have the "I can't!" Mentality. Wish more people would adopt disabled animals they are an inspiration and loving them is doubly fulfilling. Blessings to this kind man.

I was livid, ran to my mum and we took the baby to the vet who said he needed calcium ampoules. After taking them daily, he could walk and then, even run! We were so delighted! My brave little tiger kitty, CiCi ("Tschi Tschi). He was my constant companion and I loved him, just I loved all my sweet pets. They're all over the rainbow bridge now, but not a day or night goes by that I don't miss and love them. I so look forward to seeing them again! Best wishes to you, dear fellow animal lover!

Being albino, as she is, sadly, Albinism comes with a lot of extra defects. When Turtles and tortoises are 'born,' they grow in an egg. My guess is something happened during the development that kept her shell from forming completely over her chest.

What I'm thinking is can they not patch that? I'd imagine it's possible. Perhaps just really expensive. I mean I'm no vet but I can see them taking a piece of smooth concrete or something and plastering it over the hole.

If you look closely it does look like she has a thin, clear skin or membrane covering her exposed heart. If her heart and organs were truly exposed i don't think any amount of cleaning of her water would make a difference or that she would have even survived her egg. The first bathroom she did in her water would doom her and her organs would have likely gotten waterlogged. But its still impressive, she would still likely require daily water changes and a lot of attention. Its no wonder she loves her owner so much and kudos to him for giving her that chance that nature would have never allowed her.

@@meriwilliams1217 go for it lol I do biodiversity talks at schools and it’s the easiest way to describe to young children features and how to identify what kind of habitat they would need to thrive , hopefully it prevents mishaps in the future because there was this young lady’s few years ago on TikTok that made a video of herself finding a tortoise crossing the road where she states “if you find a turtle crossing the road help it” she then threw it into a river ,sadly it wasn’t just a land crawly tortoise it was also a critically endangered species :( there was a follow up video where she was quite upset having found out the turtle was very likely dead because of her intervention . So if remembering swimmy vs land crawly features helps save any future herps I’m all for it =^_^=

Animals fight and do not have the "I can't!" Mentality. Wish more people would adopt disabled animals they are an inspiration and loving them is doubly fulfilling. Blessings to this kind man.

CiCi ("Tschi Tschi). He was my constant companion and I loved him, just I loved
all my sweet pets. They're all over the rainbow bridge now, but not a day or night
goes by that I don't miss and love them. I so look forward to seeing them again!

My grandma would tell me that sweet little animals like that would be in your life because they're special angels meant to show you love and for you to love. Because she came in your life in such a special way. And she's meant for you and only you.

Being albino, as she is, sadly, Albinism comes with a lot of extra defects. When Turtles and tortoises are 'born,' they grow in an egg. My guess is something happened during the development that kept her shell from forming completely over her chest.
birth defect can happen to any animal, this one is lucky to survive for so long.
Its not too surprising all though it is very rare, my little sister was born with a hole in her hart and shes living the best life she could imagine
