Actually turtles with open hearts aren't that rare (it happens once maybe twice but still not very likely) it's just breeders determined that they won't have a safe or comfortable life so they will keep it and see if they can keep it alive or give it a lethal shoot. Also albino turtles aren't that rare there are actually a good number of breeders who breed albino turtles.

As a turtle lover I can attest that you can absolutely connect with a turtle like this. I’ve actually never had a turtle that wasn’t excited to see me when I walked in the room. Sure, they know it’s probably time to eat but there’s still a connection.
Absolutely! All creatures great and small have feelings and emotions. Of course your turtles know you feed them and appreciate it, but they adore you. 😊

Well a pet to watch as I grow old and go into a home. "Hope"fully she'll outlive me. (I'm 59) you are doing a wonderful job with her. Is there a point in her life when she'll get a cover over her hole? Maybe something glued somehow so it can be replaced as she grows?

@Valerie Soul It could be possible to glue a steel wire or two over the hole so it kinda works like a roll cage, without trapping dirt in there. But it doesn't seem like it's necessary, since the heart is further inside her shell as she's been growing, and the skin also seems to be significantly thicker so yeah, I think she's fine as she is.
Also, the guy looks like he's in his early 30's, which means if she lives a full life, old age might even take them about the same time, which is kind of the best you can hope for with a pet that you love.

CiCi ("Tschi Tschi). He was my constant companion and I loved him, just I loved
all my sweet pets. They're all over the rainbow bridge now, but not a day or night

What I'm thinking is can they not patch that? I'd imagine it's possible. Perhaps just really expensive. I mean I'm no vet but I can see them taking a piece of smooth concrete or something and plastering it over the hole.
@@randybray7558 He mentioned that a cover wasn't an option cause it can trap in even a minute bit of bacteria which could cause an infection at her heart. I think it can do more harm then good

She's adorable. Despite having one her most important organs exposed, she grows and survives. Thank goodness this man has a big heart like she does.

Hope is really beautiful, a miracle! Her dad is a hero, as far as I'm concerned. I love this. I just started watching videos of Tip Toe, the 20 year old, 175 lb. tortoise so it's extra cool to see Hope. Wow!
I went to see a young customer at her home one day and she had a turtle in a water tank on a table. We were discussing and the turtle was behind my back, and she kept looking back and forth at me and the turtle, and she had an inquisitive look on her face. I asked I asked what's wrong, and she said "my turtle likes you". OK.. 🤔 ... I chuckled. She said, "No, my turtle really liked you". I said what do you mean how do you know that? I thought she was a weirdo s little for saying that. She said look know he comes to the glass near you and he is flapping his arms and legs like that. He does that only when I (she) enter the room, but never to anybody else. She said "I've never seen him doing it with anybody else". She asked me to put my hand on the glass and he became really excited. "You see, He REALLY likes you. He swims away when my friends will do that". She gave me the job because "My turtles intuition can not be wrong".
OK, that was interesting. Until then I didn't think that turtles can show or have emotions towards human beings.
Wow....it only reenforces that every breathing thing is a miracle from God.

Of course they do, one of my 2 turtles hate me and tries to bite me as soon as she sees me even thou I've never mistreated her or something and she doesn't do that with anyone else
