talks about his switch puller being better and faster and then proceeds to speedrun the switch pulls, im sold that thing works great.
I’m buying the RK84 and was looking for ways to mod it. Very well presented video and glad to see fellow Malaysians with similar interests! Keep up the great work! I look forward to more videos! You have my subscription! ❤️
Finally a good keyboard content in MY, Appreciate if you make lots of keyboard content ✨
Hey man, thank you so much for this video. It was really straightforward and easy to understand, and I'm really looking forward to more of your content!
Thanks man. your turotial is very clear and easy to follow.
I've just ordered this keybaord (my first mechanical keyboard). I'll be using this video once i start modding my RK84 when i arrives :)
@@itssamueltan bro how is it orlking now i am palniingto buy it and mod with akko lavender switches
Your mod on the keyboard made it 1000X better sounding. Im getting tempted to mod my keyboard too because of this! :D
"If you are interested"??!! Bro i been searching for Malaysian custom kboard builders for a year. Subbed!!
This is literally my goal build!! glad that its what I expected to sound! definitely going 100% on this!
Great video! Waiting for my RK84 to come in the mail and this video will be extremely helpful!
Even without the mods you are going to be a happy cuatomer with it stock just by the sound alone and for a cheap price too, the best begginer keyboard
Great video, thank you for the content, it sounds much better after the mods! When installing the packing foam to fill up the casing, a few other modding youtubers tended to avoid covering the battery segment in case of overheating to prevent burning the foam - I think in yours though the packing foam covers the battery as well. Do you notice any heat coming from the battery segment when you use your keyboard?
hey so far i have no problems at all, just remember to use a thinner one so it does not press on the battery
Looks like Royal Kludge was watching you and others. The Limited Edition RK84 I just bought has versions of the mods in this video...nice.
Great Work on this build
I love everything except for how the space bar sounds.
Not creamy enough for me, still a very good sound though.
Amazing video! Got an RK84 right after I watched your video.
I like the more subtle and dampened typing sound after your mod. Will installing a foam alone helps to achieve similar results? I am not planning to replace switches, stabilisers, etc so soon. I got a red switch version btw.
Also, you got a sub!
do the Jelly Epoch foam mod on the board. its a pretty cheap mod but goddam it comes close to the poppy sound of the jelly epoch.
amazing video, straight forward and really easy to understand, i am hoping to buy and build mine for my birthday (january 14) but I dont really think that that's happening since i am only 14 and im getting a new pc for christmas so my parents are most likley gona say no. i already have a plan, i just need my parents to agree to get me the stuff to build.
Hey man, very clearly explained and helpful. I’m subscribed before you become famous
The stock sounds much bettwe in person than on the mic. I'm using it to type this right now and it sounds amazing.
Hey, you might have the newer version which has some mods already included, this RK84 was the first version released in 2019-2021
This was technically my first board which my dad bought without me knowing (the board was for him not me) but he let me use it. I helped him lube the stabs and switch out the alphas for gateron yellow and the rest for tecsee purples, i lubed those switches too. It was my first board as well as the first one i modded, he uses the board for work now. Still remember the horrendous blue switches
You mean the ones in this Keyboard or blue switches in general because how could you hate on the satisfying click noise(whatever color the clicky logitech keyboards use is sooo satisfying)
This video got recommended at the perfect time. I was literally just about to order a budget hotswap Royal Kludge and some Milky Yellow Pros. Google really is spying on me.
@@itssamueltan Oh *_NAHH._* I should be scared but I liked the video so... Thanks for spying on me 👍
yo hows the keyboard? is it ur daily driver? and is it possible to put thicker foam inside the case or is it too thin? planning to buy this keeb :3
Hey! it's been great. Very good Keyboard for the price. u can add thicker foam but just be careful
@@itssamueltan ahh okay, thanks! i might get a similar one to rk84, called feker84 cuz i dont see any black RK, have u heard of that kit?
akko build soon pls! akko cs ocean blues would be nice :3 btw is the deskmat from thickthock? how is it?
Did you have any problems with those cherry profile keycaps and interference with the north facing switches? I like that keycap set but I'm worried about the interference
I am planning on opening my RKG68, too. May I ask what type of screwdriver you used for the screws in removing the plate? Thank you!
Hey it's just a normal small Philips head screwdriver, I got mine from the hardware storr
Nice video. I’m planning to mod my rk84 with new key caps, stabs and durock medium tactile switches (zealios v1 clone) when everything arrives
Is the sound test deeper than what it actually sounds? The keyboard has deep sound even in stock, and the mouse also has deep sound.
do you feel any interference with the cherry profile keycaps? i have the same board and there's this cherry keycap set i want but i'm worried about interference and whether they'll affect feel and sound. thanks in advance! awesome video, btw :)
Hey thanks! And if u get cherry profile keycaps, and if it's DyeSub PBT or not so thick pbt it should be fine
Do you get interference with that cherry profile keycaps on gat milky? love your videos btw
This content is really good. Will you be able to recommend keycaps that has a much larger surface area at the top than the stock keycaps of the rk84? A product from shopee is really appreciated if you can link one. I kind of feel like the stock keycaps are smaller than standard.
great video! i am looking forward to buy this keyboard but is compatible with akko jelly white?
demn modding cost way higher than price of the keebs 😂 nice video man. sound wayy better after
If not mistaken that kon momo keycaps is cherry profile right will have north facing interference right?
depends on the switch. some switch housings like gateron milky yellows have this part on the top housing that causes interference. some switches have a longer stem pole (boba u4t, holy pandas, kailh/cherry speed switches) which prevents interference.
I think because these are clones, the profile is slightly different but yeah some keys don't press all the way down but it doesn't really effect my use.
I’m currently using the same board with gat milky yellows and my cherry profile caps do get some interference with rows 2 and 3. It did bother me so I ended up swapping with an OEM set I had
I regret buying tkl pcb because now i need to lube 87 switch, pain 😌
I just lubed all my switches for the rk84, first time too, that thing took some time, i really don't understand how some people doit in one go lmao. I've lubed them in three separate days, took me like 2-3h for 33 switches lmao. But damn the difference is really worth it, especially for sound. Smoothness is good and all, but the sound is the better part imo.
Confused with RK84 and RK68. Which one to choose? Is there any difference other than the layout?
Is there a reason why you put the stabs in before screwing the plate to the pcb? Can I just put the stabs in after I screw the plate, foam and pcb together?
Yeah u can, but the foam I use will block the stabs when installing, so I always install it first
What is the mousepad you’re using? I’ve seen it in a lot of places and want to get one
When you started testing, i didn't see the no mods caption, and was like, fuck, that sounds like crap lmao. Stock switches and stabs are terrible on the rk84
Hi, I have a question: How can I turn offline the light of P or Q key when the connections was connected?
Because I just want to turn off all led.
For that you can't because it's pairing, but once it's paired it should turn off automatically
Great video! Question about the hot-swappable switches - is it possible to install LOW-PROFILE switches in the RK84?
Hmm what do u mean by low profile switches? Hotswap means it will fit any cherry style switch which is most swicthes
@@itssamueltan there are low profile switches that are much flatter than typical sized switches. Something like the Keychron K3.
If they have the correct pin lay out to match the sockets then it is likely they would work
Good news to anyone looking to buy this board now they added foam between the pcb and plate so that mod is already done.
i just ordered mine from a third party seller, so i hope i end up with the newer model with the added foam
@@AmbientWanderer Most likely will its been a year I am sure they have sold through the older revisions.
I was thinking of buying the white and then spray painting the frame. Have you tried it? and do you think it's a good idea?
I personally haven't tried yet but I've seen a lot of people do it and it looks amazing! I would say to try it but be careful
@@itssamueltan hmm i think i'll give it a shot... hehe thanks for responding, dude
This might be a silly question but if I buy this keyboard , can I use it with my Mac?
When the rgb turns off and how often in minutes, does it cause delay
Hi! Is it cherry mx profile keycaps?
Help pls, can I use xda profile keycaps with this keyboard?
Hi Yes! The ones i use are oem cherry profile, but yead XDA will fit too
Great vid! My only problem is I can’t open the website from the links
@@itssamueltan it pops up with ‘invalid address’ however I only wanted to see incase they had better price ranges!
What's the difference between the milky yellows and regular yellows (sound wise)?
Thanks for the video. The links for the stuff used in the mod aren't working... I really wanted to look up the parts you used, if you can update the links it would appreciated! thanks!
is the durock stabilizers compatible with the RK84?, And what will sound better the Cherry Plate mount stabs or durock stabilizers?
Hey any plate mounted stabs will fit, and the will be the same depends on how you mod it
is it 7u or 6.25u?
and stabs i ony find is Plate mounted Black Cherry Stabilizers Clear Satellite is dont know if it will work
Do i have to take note of anything when buying keycaps for rk84? Is there a Specific Keycap size for the keyboard?
the new RK84 already has foam inside. under the PCB and between PCB
Yeap and that's great, I did a review on the newer model too. This video was made back in 2021, but it still works as a guide to help ppl with modding their keyboards
do the cherry keycaps feel mushy on the north facing led board? i wanna get this set so bad but the interference has me hesistating
The new version of RK84(brown) sounds like the modded one... They have added foam , that's why
what screwdriver are you using? i'm trying to mod my first keyboard (rk84) so
Currently I'm using the wowstick F1+ , but the orange one in the video is just a normal screwdriver
Imagine cherry mx black switched keyboard but the space bar is gateron milky yellow switches on the gmmk pro and an aluminium plate. I 😍
bro which would be nicer for a more pop sound? milky top and bottom or milky top black bottom?
For me it's the Full Milky ones, the black bottoms don't really sound more poppy
Hi, does the usual mechanical keycaps fits RK84? or only specific keycaps fit RK84?
Hi, usual Keycaps like the 108 or 104 set wont fit, u need to find Keycaps set with the additional keys for the 1u alt FN and ctrl and also 1.24u shift
I didn't realise you're Malaysian until you mentioned the price of the stablizer. Got to support local keyboard enthusiasts
Is it good if just the Stock Rk84 stabs gonna use for mod? Or it really need to replace it?
I recommend holy modding first, if you can mod the stock ones properly they can sound decent too
@@itssamueltan Okay I'm gonna try holee mod, lubing and clipping it. Thank youuu.
Hello! May I know the stab sizes that fits the keyboard?
My durock plate mounted stabs were a really tight fit, but they have absolutely no rattle where the bottom housing of the stab meets the plate. The stock stabs had a really loose fit, so it rattled a lot between plate and bottom housing.
Hi, you mentioned clear stabilisers that was out of stock. Do you still have the link for it?
Im new to this and your video is really helpful.
Hey u can try searching for Durock Plate Mounted Stabs or Everglide ones
@@itssamueltan thanks! Really love watching your video. Keep them coming! 😊
was there any switch interference since you were using cherry profile keycaps on north facing switches?
Isit possible/worth to switch the plate for a diff material?
I see, I can't really find too. Appreciate the reply and keep grinding bro, enjoying the content🔥🔥🔥
Hello, do you know if the rk84 is compatible with 5 pin switches or do they have to be 3 pin?
Does the rk84 rgb ever stop when you don’t touch it for a while the usb c cord is in? And does this ever happen to the rk68?
It does, but after u install the software you can adjust it to never turn off
@@itssamueltan sorry for asking a lot but can you turn the brightness all the way down without the software?
@@crystalhorton8860 you can turn it all the way up or down without the software, fn+up arrow fn+down arrow.
HOW DI YOU REMOVE THE KEYCAPS WITH THE STABILIZERS ON, I USEF ALL MY STREGTH TO PULL THE KEYCAPS WITH THE STABLIZERS ON AND IT DID NOT COME OUT BRUH
Bruh, maybe the keycaps are on too tight. Try slowly instead of instantly pulling it
have been referring to your video while i'm modding mine hehe. great! this is really helpful. i have one question though, do the milky yellow switches dim the rgb? i heard rk84 has more soft rgb(?), so i'm worried that they might dim the rgb more.
Hey I totally get it, milky yellows actually just diffuse it more so it looks more even, it doesn't really dim the RGB
Putting more foam in would’ve made it sound a bit better just a tip
A better tip would be to NOT put foam because it completely mutes the sound of the switches. I recommend tape modding it as a more viable solution for poppy sound.
Where can i get the keycaps from? I am for UK and I can not use shopee
@@itssamueltan I can use taobao? Someone said I need to use an agent, all of the agents I have seen have very expensive delivery charges :(
@@smp4308 u can use Taobao by yourself actually just watch some tutorials and you might be fine
may i know what is the reason putting foam inside ?
The case is quite hollow and may have some mild "echos" the foam will help absord it and make it sound less hollow and more full

@@itssamueltan Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to Californians about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. These chemicals can be in the products that Californians purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment.
Hey, u guys mind if drop down links or smtg im currently fimding wooden case that can fit my rk68. I dont mind if the holes not the same as long as the size is right 😅
Hmm I'll do some research, because I've been trying to find 3rd cases for my RK68 too
does anyone know where i could get a precut foam thing for the rk68? I'm from the US so I can't really order off of shopee :(
What should I choose keychron k2 or RK84 for better wired and wireless connection (excluding the 2.4GHz).
I would say it depends on your budget, if your are willing or have more budget u can get the Keychron, but if it's your first board and you're tight on money u can get the RK
I literally got my rk84 with red switches a few days back and I've been thinking about learning to mod. What do you think about banana split switches or tangerines in comparison to the gateron milky yellows? Thanks for this video and the links
Hmm me personally I like tangerines, but those are tactile if I remember correctly, so it all depends on your preference actually 🤣
@@itssamueltan from what I read they were linear actually but I felt the tangerines were a little more high pitched. I love the sound from the banana splits but this video kinda changed my mind
@@deepdivin yeah Tangerines are linear; have you tried the linear Akko Radiant Reds? They feel very very smooth and I love them to death after lubing with some 205g0. Am planning to get some SA profile keycaps to go along with them
Hai bro, untk gaming keyboard ni ok tak? Ada delay?
@@itssamueltan ok bos.. I sudah order.. N done subscribe ur channel 😬👍.. Keep it up bro💪
Great video. The mods ended up being more expensive than the keyboard itself, but still not unreasonable. I'm less picky with the keycaps and I already have a cheap place to get my pick of switches, so it's nice to know the end cost of modding can get even cheaper for me.
Yeah it's actually quite cheap but I bought the lubing service so yeah, goodluckk with your build!
