- Credit to Bioware, my expectations were low but they still managed to underdeliver.
The general feeling is the average person thinks this looks terrible, but a loud minority of "superfans" are defending this, suggesting the gameplay on the 11th will prove us all wrong and Bioware are secretly hiding a dark, serious epic RPG.
Maybe that will happen, but those of us living in reality can see that this game has been designed for Twitter weirdos BY Twitter weirdos. The only other explanation is that the Bioware marketing team have a bet going for how fast they can get shut down by EA.
To think Dragon age origin use to be a mature dark fantasy.
Then it got bought by Evil Asshats sorry I mean Electronic Arseho.. uh Art and since that it's done for, just think about the F. up ending of Mass Effect 3 e. g.
It's giving me the same sort of vibes as the Saint's Row reboot did. Can't believe this is Dragon Age, just awful.

I had the exact same impression. It really looked and felt like the trailer for Saints Row's reboot, only with a dwarf.
The trailer's art direction is beyond dogshit. It literally looks like a mobile game.
Unless we see a 180 reversal in the gameplay trailer, this game is DOA.
Well the cinematic trailer has a developer with cinematic designer background from Activision Mobil phone games. Guess it explain why we think it looks horrible. He blocked me on twitter because he did not like what I had to say about the graphics and art style 😂

I rather play a game with mid graphics that is actually good and has good writing than a graphically impressive game with horrible writing and crap characters and I have no doubt the latter will be the case here. Artwork/tonal redesign for a "modern audience"? Check.
Beloved white male character desecrated in order to allow the writer's new pet characters to shine? Check.
- Poor Varric. The man was eternally hopeful, hiding any fear or insecurities behind humor. Now he's being portrayed as washed up and bitter like Luke in the new Trilogy.
Lore violations? Possibly, should the female Qunari Dragon Hunter not be a Tal-Vashoth rebel, as only men are allowed to take up arms against ANYTHING, let alone a dragon, which they consider semi-sacred.
I really hate the trailer but where is the DEI?

When I saw the trailer, and before I knew about the name change, I thought The Veilguard was some Dragon Age spin-off game for mobile.

Before this trailer, i was going to buy the game just to find out how the story ends. Now, i will just look up how the story ends.

Im done with Bioware. I was permanetly banned on steam forum after replying to a post whether I would buy the game or not. In it I wrote respectfully that I won't be buying games with extra launchers or wokness. 5 minutes later Perma Ban.

I really, really hate the Marvelization of games. Always ironic, sacrastic, witty, colorful like a super stererotype. Oh and of course we fight against the Gods now like in 10.000 other games. So innovative.
You had me fooled a bit in the beginning. Almost thought you were going to say it looks like it'd be good. This is exactly what I expected. Failure to write anything worth reading and characters I couldn't care less about. This is not a Dragon Age game. This is a cash grab using the Dragon Age name.
I want to know who they tested this on, and got feedback from. And, what can you expect when they put the guy who made Sims 4 in charge? I knew this title was doomed when they forced out all the OG BioWare team who had actually made games fans loved.
The modern music was cringe
Esteldan, when Dragon Age: Origins came out in 2009, that was the first RPG I had ever played. It gave you choice, you could choose and create a character, their background and who they were as far as class and it changed my view of video games. I had only played sports games and shooters and now RPG's are my favorite genre. Dragon Age: Origins did that for many more people besides myself. I went on to play Star Wars: KOTOR, Oblivion, Fallout, Mass Effect etc.. I've played them all now; The Witcher 3 being my favorite at this point. I say all that to say that this is absolutely disrespectful to all the fans of Dragon Age. They are catering to a "new" fanbase called the "modern audience". It is almost like the BioWare management team saw Baldur's Gate 3 and said "Oh, okay, cool. We aren't even going to try to be this good...lets make a hero shooter!". The tone looks ridiculous, it looks happy, it looks like they're having fun. The Darkspawn are not fun. The are a blight. What the fuck happened to BioWare.

Just head over to the AA & Indie scene, that's where my money is mainly going these days when it comes to gaming. Korean games are also where my money is going, Stellar Blade being the prime example. I mean I do vaguely recall one of the execs saying that DA4 is going to pretty much be like "Anthem but with dragons" a few years back, so I'm not surprised by how shit the trailers are.

@@KratosisGod It is. People focus too much on the botched ending and forget that the gameplay was good. It also dropped the ball on the choice system, and your choies from previous games actually mattering in any way, but again, good gameplay.

This is probably just CGI trailer, just because it's in the game engine doesn't mean it's how the game actually looks (otherwise it would say "In-game footage" or something like that). I mean, many Dragon Age trailers didn't look at all like the game. So just wait till gameplay reveal to pass judgement on the game.

The first 3 Dragon Age games are some of my favorite games of ALL TIME. But this new game has graphics like Fortnite and it's marketed like a Disney Pixar film. And if the gameplay, story and character were well written, I can get over the graphic style. However, this is brimming with more DEI/ESG slop. I'm fine with what we got in the first 3 games, and I'm fine with it ending there. This new game is a Hard pass for me.

DEI is actually on our side. They know all of us has humongus backlogs of games so they are helping us by preventing us from buying new games and focus on finally finishing our games.
I guess the game will look a little different but I can't imagine it being completely different in tone. The tone of generic Fortnite/Overwatch slop that no one other than a few % of RPG gamers are waiting for.

I hoped they would have learned from DA2 and was on the right track since DA Inquisition was such a big Improvement from DA2 but this trailer killed all the excitement i had for the game. Absolutely ridiculous... I don't think i ever have been this disappointed in a video game trailer in my whole life except perhaps Forspoken.
Ill give Ubi soft one credit for at least coming out with a good trailer for Assassin's creed shadows. The Dragon age trailers to me in the past were epic this looks they don't even want to offend people. I really don't mind the cartoon look of it because even Borderlands has a cartoon art style that is a mature game but I guess it just does not seem like a good look for a game like Dragon Age. I am not asking for a realistic style but I don't know the tone of the trailer just seems cringy.

Decent 5e D&D game if you can completely shut off your brain and ignore all of the inconsistencies, plot holes along the entire game and the points where the plot completely breaks in act 3.

I was looking forward to da and kcd but based on trailers alone I think kcd2 definitely wins out. Da started to go down hill after the first one after they removed all the banter, tongue in cheek comments. Where as kcd has kept that in the 2nd game......

It looks so divorced from the three prior games, it's not even Dragon Age. Hell, no matter how bad Dragon Age 2 was (I liked it, but it wasn't even a patch on DA:O) at least DA2 was cohesive with Origins. And Insurrection, I absolutely loved - yes, it wasn't as good tactically as DA:O, but the story was good and engaging, and I wanted to explore and unlock everything, and I wanted to play it over and over to see different options and choices. And it all fit the world as was created by Origins.
That elf with that weird ass longbow... what the hell is even that? Elves don't look like that in Dragon Age! The whole thing looks too clean and colourful and sparkly. The feel is wrong, the sound is wrong, and I am just so f'ing DONE with Bioware, now. Mass Effect included - the newest game they're doing there can get stuffed as well. I would have much preferred them to have done DLC for Andromeda and fix the story that way and then continue onward (for there were and are some good "bones" to Andromeda to build a compelling story on) than for what they're likely going to do: utterly destroy the Mass Effect Trilogy.
No. I'm done. Dragon Age ends for me with Inquisition. Mass Effect ends with the Trilogy and what little we have of Andromeda. Bioware: your glory is wasted and done. Let this turd be the death-knell for you and may EA shut you down completely. And EA? Go f' yourself. You're one of the worst things that could happen to any company. It's Bioware's fault for getting into bed with you in the first place, and the DEI nonsense... well, that's just self inflicted.
I wasn't a fan of Inquisition. The story didn't engage me in the premise, was stupid, and the characters stale. The fact I needed a DLC to see the true ending also was not a point of good quality for me.
DA2 didn't mind, but it still wasn't great, and the ending was weak.
Awakening got me really excited for the next game because I was like, how are they going to expand on the smart darkspawn.
Origins loved all of it characters story etc. It felt complete from beginning to end.

@@70mavgr I really enjoyed that story. Making it happen over 10yrs of Hawke's life, was a good idea. They were clearly rushed, but I still enjoy that game. The banter, especially between Isobel and Avaline was funny.
Ngl it looked insanely desperate to attempt an emulation of Borderlands 3, Skyrim and Guardians of The Galaxy...I like the class diversity but it really looks and sounds weird

Tbf, Borderlands games always had awful humor, and Borderlands 3 has best gunplay from all of them and a little less bullet sponges so it's the best game in series to me.

@@supermac8619 Okay, humor might be worse than in previous titles for all I know, but I definitely didn't like humor in previous games either so I didn't care if it sucked in Borderlands 3. For that reason, Borderlands 3 to me is better than Borderlands 1 and 2 because gunplay was better.
It was always cringey and annoying to me and I always thought that series would have been better with a bit more serious Mad Max/Fallout kind of tone that only features dark comedy style humor in moderation.

The funny thing is DAO was a spiritual successor to BG2..... and now BG3 has come out and people went nuts for it. All they had to do was make a half assed tonned down classic rpg with decent companion interactions and everyone would have loved it

The artstyle reminds me of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, and, while I liked it and even bought a 2020 remaster, I couldn't consider that game serious and dramatic because of its artstyle. There was a great war raging, but anything was so cartoonish...
Dragon Age Origins was the badass Motörhead album. 2 and onwards progressively devolved and sold out into Green Day. Not to mention, why bother? Every DA game afterwards basically half-reboots the series making any and all investment utterly fruitless. The DEI shite was just the last nail in the proverbial coffin.

Iron Bull is entirely a BI-sexualized creep even while sober. Oghren was at least a drunk with a PTSD and abandoned by his wife who he still loved and killed someone for.
Krem's whole story is about being trans and your character can't even approach it in any way instead of just straight up asking why not transition and I and no clue. I knew Krem was a Biological woman from the face and voice alone, but my character is that stupid.
