I have a wedding in 2 days.. my dress is 3" to long and the fabric is silky and will only take a rolled hem, the rolled hem foot is on delayed delivery..... YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!!!!
There's so many ways to do a hem, this is genius. Thank you.
You just changed my sewing life!😮
I was taught to roll and stich the hem by eye. This looks far easier. I will give this a try.
Cool. What are the card board fold measurements? I finally got it to work. It's best to take your time getting used to guiding the fabric. It does work!!
Whoa - so THAT is what that foot is for. That's kinda cool!
WHOA! Amazing and I will be using it. Thanks!
Perfect
Good one, thank you!
Thank you for showing this to me!
I wish it worked for me!
Can you show what it looks like to turn the corner with technique?
It looks like, awwww sh😂
Holy granola! What a great idea! You rock!
Im gonna try it!
Where do you get the sticky cardboard?
It's just a double-sided tape
(cut off to any length you need or prefer)
that you can use to put on the bottom to make it stick and stay in place better to the top of your machine/feed dogs of ANY
type of thin cardboard, cardstock, cut greeting card, toilet paper/cut paper towel roll or anything else that is thin & rigid enough to maintain and hold it's shape when it's been folded over to form the running channel for a hem of whatever size that you happen to be working with on the garment project.
Not Complicated.....
nor does it require any special equipment at all. 🤷♂️
Nah, it doesn't woek for round hems.
What
Blew my mind, I'm 58
OMG, looks way easier than my rolled hem foot. I couldn't figure that out.
It does work you will have to take your time in guiding the fabric and ensuring the fabric is properly tucked under 1/4 inch before I goes under the folded card board.
Me too. Gonna try it right now. Kitchen towels are pricey. Seems like I'm all ways washing my hands. I cut towels in half and then have 2 towels.
What is this SORCERY?! I love it and I need it in my life immediately. Thanks for sharing!
That hoodie tho!😆
Jeez that's brilliant.....it works!!! Thanks a mil😊
You shared their video but have you tried it? 🤔
I totally scoffed at this nonsense,
......Until I tried it! This really does work.
That is friggin’ genius!
I tried this with sewing the hem of an existing dress. It would do great for maybe 5 inches, then the rayon wouldn't stay in the cardboard. I think this would work great with cotton and intend to try it again when I'm not using such a "fussy" fabric.❤
I tried but my fabric is too elastic and won’t slip through the cardboard. 😩
Thanks for the tutorial--too cool for school! Can't wait to try it😂
Where do we find this cardboard with adhesive backing?
I used Double Sided Scotch Brand Tape. I covered the taped side with Saran Wrap or u could use wax paper when not in use. Works great.
@@sgrmagnolia1 Brilliant. Thank you!
AWESOME idea..!!! Thank you for sharing this with us.
I struggled with this hack
I just found this trick, curious to see if it works on ripstop nylon. Iron the edges first maybe 👍😎
Yes, Ironing helped. It works.
Incredible! 😇
Love the sweatshirt!
OMG Really? OMG
I like it! Will definitely try!! Thank you!
Thank you for the awesome hint - going to help me make neater hems 😊
Blessed 2 B A Blessing 🙌
what a great idea!
I'm going to try this on woven flutter sleeves, but I will test it first on similarly curved scraps.
Love the sweatshirt 🤣
looks good but what if you want a curved hem - for a collared shirt that you want to shorten, and wear un-tucked
Thank you!
Absolutely genius
But it won't work for loss satn fabric
Nice! Thanks for sharing!
It looks very easy. I love to try it. Let you know how it works.
Whaaaat!! Thank you very much!!
What a super idea you had!!!
Mmmm, that is clever.
Bobbin tension problems if you look closely at the stitching
Wow Anita i need you to come over and look at my sewing machine, you have a great eye
