I have tried the beer plan. Except I poured beer in a few little plastic "saucers" like you might put under pots to catch water. It seemed to help - apparently slugs do like beer.
I use to do a lot of hydroponics. I used flour for aphids and ants sometimes I has to be gluten free though so don't kill someone with a wheat allergy. I would always buy king arthur and sprinkle it with a shaker over plants and or the soil surface. this can also attract some other kinda bug too but you can wash it all off even some time after. the aphids would get so bad on the cow peas and the kale. never really went for my tomatoes or green beans etc. other greens. had a problem with white flies because was growing my tomatoes so thick and collard greens etc. was using white ivory soap method. and some omni certified organic stuff. I didnt have anything to deal with the worms on my corn those dudes were brutal on the corn
Hand grenades are effective but there will always be collateral damage. The beer thing works for slugs.
I'm trying Organza bags, But I only have a few plants...
I've never heard of those! I'll have to look into them for next Spring. I hope they work well for you.
Awesome. I would put my beer in a sour cream container or something of the sort, then lid and garbage. so yucky lol
I tried the beer in a saucer...the only slug that 'drunk' itself to death was the one I picked up and dropped in the beer....so now, I drink the beer and put Sluggo plus on the plants, it works better and also helps control the sow bugs.
I've been hearing about Sluggo. I'll have to try it next Spring ... while drinking a beer. ;)
