- Third Eye Blind will release their new album Our Bande Apart on September 24 (Megacollider Records) orcd.co/ourbandeapart , written during the lockdown and produced by Stephan Jenkins and Colin Holbrook. Our Bande Aparte features contributions from Ryan Olson of Poliça and Marijuana Death Squad, Jeff Schroeder from Smashing Pumpkins, Velvet Negroni and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast.
Directed by Ryan Olson Watch Velvet Negroni meld into Stephan Jenkins, over Ryan Olson’s freaky, trippy, lockdown shanty, with Negroni on background vocals.
Jenkins adds, “I had no idea what Ryan Olson was up to until I saw the video for the first time. To which I exclaimed, ‘this is the best Third Eye Blind video ever!’ And I am saying that when, as often as not, I direct my own videos. Ryan is a stoner genius and I say this knowing that he is not actually a stoner at all. To me having my face melded and morphed with the incredibly talented Velvet Negroni evoked how being stuck in lockdown changes us into someone else. It feels isolated, crazed and somehow hopeful. Just give him his MTV award, if they still have those or whatever already.”

It's an AMAZING song! People are formated to 3eb = power pop rock songs .. they listen to this masterpiece and don't get it! Don't get the message behind! The sounds and emotions behind this beautifil piece of art. Lets forgive those ones that don't understant the beauty of this song and enjoy by ourselfes ;) ahaha cheers.

In my humble opinion, Stephen Jenkins and Third Eye Blind have had many songs that showed a major influence by fringe bands, Joy Division and Velvet Underground, to name a couple. Hearing this seemingly odd, unique, and seemingly random track is something I would love to hear more of from him. I say him because I suspect Stephen Jenkins is the free mind behind this seemingly random track. I loved it.

Very interesting song. At first listen, yes it sounds different but those lyrics! Stephan delivers those deep thoughts in such an eloquently evocative manner, and that’s what made me fall in love with 3EB over two decades ago! Definitely want to listen to this song just hanging out at Redondo Beach pier one of these evenings when I go out for a sunset stroll.

This is not garbage like some say, the videoclip is amazing. Its just... The regular 3eb fan dont expect something like this tune! They expect power rock catchy tunes along with the Angry Melodic voice of the Legend Stephan's Jenkins. Now lets enjoy this album and his moment and beg for Stephan release a Rock Album Next time 😉👍
Always been my favorite band and actually this sound/vibe is similar to a lot of their old stuff. They’ve always had kind of a mix with the style of songs on their albums, so maybe the other stuff will be more like that

That acoustic song is just yearning to break free. I don't object to the concept of putting electronic components (even scattershot ones) on top of the acoustics, but this is a case where it is clearly impeding the song. Stephan gets in his own way consistently.

This is interesting, I like it. Just like bands using flanger from tape reel or 80/90s hip hop making a record skip experimenting can lead to some interesting sounds and songs. Ideally this is the only song on the new album with this though.
1.) Gotta admit, this is the probably one of the dopest 3EB songs ever. I've been a fan since the first album, got to see them live at Rutgers Fest, and to hear them evolve to THIS?!!? Looking forward to the album.
