  • Negative Symptoms, problems in motivation and connection, are core symptoms of schizophrenia spectrum diagnoses. These symptoms are highly associated with the dysfunction experienced in the disorder. However, Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy focuses on negative symptoms as a target for treatment. How do we address negative symptoms. This webinar considers the theoretical grounding of Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy for psychosis as it relates to these problems in motivation and connection.

    Ive been working with him on better self talk. I even roll play with him....try to help him with a different way to think about his thoughts and response to thoughts. Im only his mom....lol

    Currently the negative symptoms are those I see in my loved one. He seems motivated and his cognition seems good, but not much for him to do. Still looking for a job, so he is bored. The monotone voice, rarely smiling and very little animation is what I notice most. Makes me sad....and not cleaning up often.
