It’s so hard to convey to people how long crafts can take. I crochet and I was telling someone about a blanket I made that’s about 3.5’x6’ and I said it took 15 minutes per row and they didn’t seem phased. I said that’s over one hundred hours! I think they think in terms of something like job hours, so they’re thinking it took a couple of weeks, but it’s hard to craft for hours on end (at least for me). It took me about a year because I also worked on other projects.
Yesssss! Embroidering or crocheting for 100hrs is WORK. my longest embroidery project to date is 52 hours and it took at least 3 months. Can't just embroider for hours on end. My hands give out. And my back.
Honestly! I'm working on a cross-stitch pillow cover that's 86 by 120 pixels, or 10,320 pixels. Since each square is 2 stitches, that means this cover will be 20,640 stitches in total. It's been a couple months and I'm only halfway through 💀
LITERALLY, im currently making a patchwork cardigan and whenever i tell people how long its taking me they dont really grasp the idea. i feel like only other craft enthusiasts will really understand
I love your ambition! Some people might think to embroider an entire shirt would be no big deal, but that will take a long time, and be quite heavy. Can’t wait to see it finished🐝🤗❤️
Why put that much dedication into this particular design though?🤔 It would be way more worth it to do some adequately placed, original flowers. With this shirt the print goes all over the seams and stuff.
@@neonice I can’t answer why he chose this design. I assume it’s because he liked it, or maybe he wanted a challenge. Whatever the reason, it will be interesting to watch it happen.🐝🤗❤️
@@neonice I think it's cool idea. Maybe he'll find a way to work around the seams and such. I embroider as well. I wouldn't have chosen to embroider all the flowers only because it would take so long, but that's me. I'm interested to see how he works it all out. 😊
Hey shmoxd, I want you to know your videos were a big part of my teen years. They allowed me to express myself artistically, and i kind of forgot about you. I'm glad to know you're still uploading and doing good. Also shoutout Eric godlow. ❤️
AMAZING. A very ambitious craft! My mum once did something similar - but she bought two tops in the same fabric and cut one up to applique the pieces onto the other one, adding thickness, which she then edged with tiny beads. It was the kind of craft that I thought was cringe as a kid, but now I'm curious as to whether she kept it. Very hard work.
Sorry but I forgot everything else after seeing you in that tiny speedo (that now I need!). Jokes aside, I couldn't embroider at all in a car, I would get sick in minutes lol
I'm envious of you being able to focus on embroidery in the car, if I tried this I'd be sick within 10minutes 😅🤢 So good to see how much you improved just from that first flower
This was relaxing to watch! Also I'm glad your friends were tolerant of the headlamp in the car - it reminded me of trying to use a light in the backseat of the car when you're a kid lol!
Did you do that embroidery with torch on, 😱😳that is another level of dedication 🤯.....but please, take care of your eyesight don't ruin it like that,🤗 daylight is the best light to do that type of work. ☺️ I'm curious if your shirt became a bit heavier??😅 I had that happen to me although I used beads too besides embroidery....it felt strange wearing it😂 the fabric was thin but embroidery made it heavy 😂
i’ve been thinking of doing something similar!! but my one full 10” hoop of embroidery is taking me months, so it’d be something way in the future for me lol looks absolutely beautiful so far!!!
Yeah your 2nd flower and on look great. When you said the 1st pair of flowers on took 2 hrs I was like whaaaaaat?! I guess I'm used to using single or double strand and I'm super particular about the way the threads lay and all that so I take forever to stitch. Shirts gonna be rad as fuck when it's done!
I LOOOOVE the shirt. Your work is so beautiful. Also just have to say when I saw the skull on your intro it reminded me of the game Skull Monkeys. That was my childhood.😂
You have just inspired me to do the same thing to my Hawaiian shirt I only have one Hawaiian shirt but I do love the look and I rule book and I really love the idea of having embroidered
i remember the first video of yours i watched was a collab woth annika viktoria when she was still on yt, it was also an embroidery. its all coming full circle
I'm currently embroidering black hearts onto a crochet banana cat thing I bought as a gift for someone. It's difficult as I can't just put it on a hoop so the hearts are a little wonky but it kinda makes it look more like those black spots on actual banana's
If you are interested in listening to Podcasts while embroidering, I got some recommendations for you: 🎃 Lore (with October coming around the corner, it's a good thing to start with) 🎃 Keep it Weird podcast. (A True-crime, supernatural and unexplainable events, comedy podcast hosted by two former Midwestern ladies. My personal favorites are their Listener Ghost Stories) 🎃The Friendship Onion. (Hosted by Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd. AKA Mary and Pippin from The Lord of the Rings trilogy) Also some audiobooks to listen to. Is 🎃 The Dresden Files. By Jim Butcher. Read by the extremely talented James Marsters. (Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). 🎃 'American Gods' by Niel Gaiman (The 10th Anniversary edition is read by a full cast)
Oh wow I’m from Mexico and I live in Salt Lake haha I’m wondering where’s the place you did the rug in the last video, I would like to go there. All in that video was very awesome btw🙌🏻🌈
omfgoodness... I have accepted that this is weird, but why do i have the urge to spin a lot of yarn and knit a pair of overalls and then send them to you? I mean it would probably take a year but what a project that would be
I am so envious of people that can do things while riding in a car! If I look at my phone for even a few minutes I get ridiculously nauseous 😭 Your work is lovely ❤️

can’t wait for this, perfect timing for a shmoxd vid
🙌🏻🌈
Tell me how I just now find out this video existed
I want to do this so bad! It looks so cool!
At 2:00 what is the sheet of paper he placed between the shirt and the hoop ? Can't he embroider without it ?
It's called stabilizer. It's a fabric used to make embroidery easier on thin fabric. Depending on the type it's either trimmed away or torn off.
ur an inspiration
🙏🏻✨
I have a shirt you can embroider with flowers and everything! :P jk love your videos

this is why couture is expensive. lol Also, can I say...lost opportunity for an embroidered cheetah/leopard swimwear moment at 4:55
Lovely, so glad you had fun an couldn’t get into it, honestly.
Shotout to Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. ✌🏻

such a cool concept. ngl I would definitely not have the patience to do the yellow, but even just the plants and flowers would take forever
I am the same about listening to things with a story line while doing things. That's why the audible plus catalog is one of my favorite things
That simple detail is what makes the difference between a regular retail shirt and a high end shirt that could be sold for hundreds of dollars
I actually just started doing embroidery so this video is really good inspo
I need that little head lamp! What a game changer. And hi, hadn't been in here forever.
omg livestream craft with shmoxd!
