Here's a really easy way to approach funk improvisation using the two note funk groove concept. It's a fairly easy concept to understand... You take two notes and use articulation & syncopation to come up with a funk groove. In this video, I give you a step by step explanation on how to make it work.

Thank you, Scott! I‘m a trumpet player and there is nothing like that for trumpet on youtube. So i‘m very thankful for your videos.
Yeah, the improv stuff I teach works on any instrument. 😁
Thank you Scott 👍
Like Maceo Parker!! Great video Scott!
Why didn’t you bust up or down an octave ??!!!😉
MACEO!!
A returning flute player... I want to play jazz. I'm learning a lot from sax players... Almost makes me want to learn

Just to throw it out there to anyone who may not know -- you can also do a Bb to C by using bis and middle side key. (Middle side key + bis = c) Scott probably didn't recommend this for tonal reasons. This alternate fingering can be good in context, I use it in Dave Brubeck's Take Five, and can be used all the time in classical. But in this case, you want those two notes to sound as profound as possible.
Thank u scott..great explanation with clear examples..
👍👍👍
Thank you Scott. I was confused about how to funk improv. but your video really helps me. thank you so much
👍👍👍
Great vid cheers 👍
Thanks!
I have no idea what you mean by flat 7 or and 1 or anything like that. Does it have to something with music theory? Maybe you could make a video on it or something, because I would like to know everything I can about music theory before I get into jazz.

Scott.. you are a gift dude! Any funk play along tracks you would recommend?
UA-cam: Soulive, Lettuce, Trombone Shorty, etc and find one and jam out!
Nice!! Always thought simplicity was a big part of the funk groove. Excellent lick from Eric Marienthal is almost a trill between B and A and C, sort of like a (BACABACABACA) if that makes any sense?
Yeah, funk licks are usually more about the style and rhythm than a ton of different notes. Love Eric Marienthal!
thanks , and i love your accent ,, beeefaaaat :)
I've got a little southern twang 👍
@@ScottPaddock dont tell to me i am italian :) nahhahahi
