One of my favorite concert memories was seeing Mr. Mister opening for Tina Turner, both bands were on-stage to turn this song into a fifteen minute gospel style jam session.
“ Kyrie Eleison” is Greek for “ Lord, have mercy”. Often spoken in Christian chants and prayers. Broken Wings is their superior song and monster hit. ❤
Ohhhh... this was one of my 'road' songs back in the day. You know, the kind where you crank up your car radio and sing at the top of your lungs. Good memories!
Growing up in the 80s when we were rejecting all Social norms at the time (Government, Religion, etc") this Song sounded like a breath of fresh Air.... It was more "Spiritual" at the time. Good Song 👍
NO WAY GUYS! Comon! This is such a spiritually powerful song! Both instrumentally and lyrically… also very interesting as far as all the change ups and harmonies.
Mr. Mister was basically a Christian rock band. They were anything but progressive. They were Christian conservatives in a rock-and-roll veneer. Don't get it twisted. "Broken Wings" was essentially taken from the book of Revelation. I appreciate this song for its sound and especially its synthesizer part. The production was slick by 1985 standards, but it's ultimately just church music. No social norms rejected.
I was 12 when this song came out. I was raised in the Catholic church and Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison (Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy) was huge!
This song really hit me where I lived and formed part of the soundtrack of my life back in the day - maybe in part because I sang historic acapella/madrigal music where the lyrics included Kyrie Eleison in very traditional compositions, and this composition had such a creative use of a traditional lyric.
Everyone loves Richard Page's voice, and he is tremendous. But don't sleep on Steve George absolutely killing it on keyboard. This is early Yamaha DX7 synthesizer magic. This was iconic 1980s New Wave sound, and the DX7 synth sounds truly make this song a classic. Does it sound a bit cheesy by modern standards? Sure. But Mr. Mister's sound was cutting-edge in 1985. Obviously, this is a subtle gospel song. It's a prayer.
Like so many people, I absolutely love this song. But the phrase "Somewhere between soul and soft machine, is where I find myself again" - that pure. I didn't find out what the Latin words meant until much later. Now that I'm grown it means even more to me.
I appreciate your honest reaction. So many reaction channels seem to love every song they react to. Hey, we all like what we like. I really like this song, probably because it is so closely tied to High School memories.
My favorite songs of theirs are “The Border” and “The Tube.” I’ve never seen anyone react to “The Tube” but it’s a little bit funk, you might like it. They were amazing live in concert!
I love this song and their other big hit Broken Wings. Both are great. Both were in heavy rotation, but BW was a bigger hit. This was a great group that was not appreciated enough in their time even though they were popular.
"Is this a timeless song?" YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Those vocals are timeless! Of course, if you are a rap fan and know NOTHING about actual music, you won 't get it.
This is another one that, pretty much, whenever you turned on MTV back in the day it was on, coming up or just finished. Broken Wings was another one that played in regular rotation.
You must search Richard Page on wikipedia. He's a very famous bass player, singer and composer for Streisand, Celine Dion etc. He toured many years with Ringo Starr All-Starr band. Love from Rome, Italy, guys❤
I’m a Duke grad (from the 80s) and a reverse issue with pronouncing “Kyrie.” When I first saw reports that they’d recruited Kyrie Irving, I thought it would be pronounced “Kyr-ee-ay” like this song. 😂
You were right Highway To Hell was in 1979. Back In Black was 1980 and the album that intrduced Brian Johnson as their new lead singer. Both songs have an immediately recognisable guitar riff opening the song.
When you talking about a girl you can say "she's fine" or you could say "she's FIIIIIIIINE". First means, "she alright", second means "she is smokin' hot". So the comparison works here.
he does a version with Ringo Starr of the Beetles in Ringo's All Star Band that Ringo forms to celebrate his birthday . . . the All Star band is made up with big name artists singing their songs, is a good watch
Yeah this is one of my favorite songs from the 80s. Oh by the way I'm almost 60. I get that it does sound like stuff from the 80s sort of like Survivor but it totally does stand out.
The opening lines of this song always give me goosebumps. I guess if you’re not spiritually inclined the song will not have any effect. They missed the interpretation of the raised hands and hand clapping. Totally spiritually unaware individuals.
So this dude in wearing the hood, saying ITS FINE...... just a classic 80's rock ? What's wrong with classic 80's rock ? Classic rock as opposed to what ? Mumble rap with Autotune today ? i'll pick this song over any of your damn songs in the charts TODAY ! Its going on my damn PLAY LIST ! and i don't even like rock that much !
One of my favorite concert memories was seeing Mr. Mister opening for Tina Turner, both bands were on-stage to turn this song into a fifteen minute gospel style jam session.
How great that must have been. This is my favorite Mr. Mister song!
“ Kyrie Eleison” is Greek for “ Lord, have mercy”. Often spoken in Christian chants and prayers.
Broken Wings is their superior song and monster hit. ❤
Yes, most liturgical Christians (Catholics, Episcopalians, Lutherans) heard those words often on Sunday in totally different tune of course
I always loved this song more than Broken Wings!
They looked up after the song ended so they know
I, personally, love this song. In fact, I think that I love it more now than I did in '86.

"Broken Wings" will always be the song Mister Mister is associated with.
Absolutely. That is one y’all should check out.
This lead singer is the guy the group Chicago wanted to replace Peter cetera when he left
He would have been a fabulous replacement for cetera😊
@@lindabergman3127 That would of been AMAZING!
Kyrie eleison (“Lord, have mercy”)
Yeah I’m singing along ❤️🔥🔥🔥
I was 12 when this song came out. I was raised in the Catholic church and Kyrie Eleison, Christe Eleison (Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy) was huge!
It's not KAI it's KIRIE pronounciation.. Kyrie Eleison ..Lord Have Mercy.. Beautiful..
Great song!!!!!!! Great Band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can remember listening to this on the school bus as a kid. I have always loved it, love it more now that I know what it means!
This song really hit me where I lived and formed part of the soundtrack of my life back in the day - maybe in part because I sang historic acapella/madrigal music where the lyrics included Kyrie Eleison in very traditional compositions, and this composition had such a creative use of a traditional lyric.

The best song ❤

Yes, be honest; that's what gives validity to a reaction - so, thank you guys.

a lot of people misunderstood what he was saying and thought the chorus was "give me a laser" LOL
Kyrie Elaison is Greek(New Testament) for Lord have mercy!
The drummer is really carrying the power to this power ballad.
He did this song with Ringo (starr) Allstars like 10 years ago. Video on youtube.
Best version i ever hears. Just search for Mr .mister .
You were right Highway To Hell was in 1979. Back In Black was 1980 and the album that intrduced Brian Johnson as their new lead singer. Both songs have an immediately recognisable guitar riff opening the song.
Crank it up ❤
yes, *BROKEN WINGS* is the one you need to listen to, and you may actually know it
When you talking about a girl you can say "she's fine" or you could say "she's FIIIIIIIINE". First means, "she alright", second means "she is smokin' hot". So the comparison works here.

To me, this was like a 2-hit band. I like the song. It reminds me of college. 🤓
If you haven't reacted to mike and the mechanics song the living years it is a good emotional song
Yeah this is one of my favorite songs from the 80s. Oh by the way I'm almost 60. I get that it does sound like stuff from the 80s sort of like Survivor but it totally does stand out.
I always thought this song was saying 'carrying...' 🙃

Kyrie lol so close
I agree. The songs just ok for me
It's a great song, but like many great songs over the years, most get forgotten. So what?
What a terrible reaction to an 80's classic, there is nothing vanilla ass about this song.
The opening lines of this song always give me goosebumps. I guess if you’re not spiritually inclined the song will not have any effect. They missed the interpretation of the raised hands and hand clapping. Totally spiritually unaware individuals.
I wasn't right keen on this song, i was more into The Cult and The Cure in them days
BORING
