All the years combine They melt into a dream A broken angel sings From a guitar In the end there's just a song Comes crawling in the night Through all the broken dreams And vanished years Stella Blue, Stella Blue When all the cards are drawn And there's nothing left to see There's just a playground left And broken dreams In the end there's still that song Comes crying like the wind Down every lonely street That's ever been Stella Blue, Stella Blue I've stayed in every cheap hotel Can't win for trying Dust off those rusty strings One more time Gonna make 'em shine It all rolls into one And nothing comes for free There's nothing you can hold For very long And when you hear that song Come crying like the wind It seems like all this life Was just a dream Stella Blue, Stella Blue
@@kowalski3769Looks like they're posting the lyrics *with* Bob's slight changes, as sung here. So, yeah. It was interesting hearing the little changes to lyrics & phrasing Bob did. As well as the solid tempo. And a few bass lines that were different than the original. Really nice presentation of the song, Dylan giving it his own treatment while retaining the spirit of the original. Thanks for videoing & posting this! 🙏🙌✨
That was awesome! Love me some Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan. I'm very surprised that this was captured on video though. I saw Bob last year in Bend Oregon and there was a strict no phone policy. I would've loved to have heard this at the Bend show!
Thank you Michael B. for this - pretty sure I would have pulled out the old iPhone for this as well for Dylan's interpretation of this timeless classic is so beautiful and powerfully heartfelt. Dylan has so much admiration for Jerry and Robert Hunter as well I can only imagine. I have so much admiration for all three of them for their huge hearts ❤ and their ability to tell stories that make us music lovers Tingle to our bones.
muchas gracias por grabar esto! Bob le da vida a Jerry con esta hermosa versión de la increíble Stella Blue, because, when you hear that song come crying like the wind it seems like all this life was just a dream.
Perfect song for Dylan, really... Pretty cool when he toured with the dead in 03 and sang jerrys songs in thr first set... member that??? 20 years ago this summer
Jerry❤ Bobby D. ❤️…. There's nothing you can hold For very long And when you hear that song Come crying like the wind It seems like all this life Was just a dream Stella Blue
that one rendition of Stella Blue is way better then anything Dead and Co are doing for 3 hrs everynight.. Bobby just kills it..he loved Jerry like a brother and Hunter also.
Please listen to DeadCo's version from 6/21/23 Citified - it might have been the inspiration for Bob play it two nights later in Barcelona - simply epic
@@standehomme5109That’s right. In Italy a few weeks ago, Bob played Only a River. I think the GD songs are as much of a nod to BW as they are to JG & RH.
We miss him too, Bob.
Indeed we do. Deeply.
Damn it. Yes
:(
Nobody can cover this song and do it justice. Somehow Bob did. Absolutely amazing.
Willie Nelson does a version that totally floors me
You should have stopped at, “nobody can cover this song”
Nobody sings/sang a sad song like Jerry.
Check out Ween’s cover
@@jimiamfirshur4778 That is a fact
Beautiful
Happy Birthday ❤R Hunter
Amen.
Wow! simply jaw dropping! of all the GD covers Bob has performed over the years to honor Jerry/Hunter this is the one above them all!!!
Thanks Bob! We miss him so SO much every day. Thanks for the tribute. Forever.
💀⚡️🌹
Heartbreakingly beautiful rendition.
Performed on what would have been Robert Hunter's 82nd birthday. A fitting tribute.
Wow I’d love an album of Bob’s Dead covers. He doing them just great!
He could return the favor. Jerry did an album of live Dylan songs....
The West L.A. Fadeaway he used to do was killer
Good 'ol Bob....Great tribute and sounds wonderful
This was beautiful.
Speechless. What a performance.
All the years combine
They melt into a dream
A broken angel sings
From a guitar
In the end there's just a song
Comes crawling in the night
Through all the broken dreams
And vanished years
Stella Blue, Stella Blue
When all the cards are drawn
And there's nothing left to see
There's just a playground left
And broken dreams
In the end there's still that song
Comes crying like the wind
Down every lonely street
That's ever been
Stella Blue, Stella Blue
I've stayed in every cheap hotel
Can't win for trying
Dust off those rusty strings
One more time
Gonna make 'em shine
It all rolls into one
And nothing comes for free
There's nothing you can hold
For very long
And when you hear that song
Come crying like the wind
It seems like all this life
Was just a dream
Stella Blue, Stella Blue
A quick note. It's....
" I've stayed in every BLUELIGHT cheap hotel."
Not a big deal. Thanks for posting the lyrics for everyone!👍

@@kowalski3769yep, notable that Bob left out the “bluelight.” Whether intentional or not, who knows?
Not "There's just a playground left" but rather "There's just the pavement left"

Plenty room for all to honor Jerry and his gift of music. Negativity gets us nowhere.
I don’t really understand the Dead and Co hate train - especially from old men. Let the music live on.
Is he touring again !?? He never did his US tour 😩
Europe all summer. Japan this spring. Just wait until the autumn.
