Even when Mike was around, Nate would demo the bass part and Mike would sort of mimic it. Nate also has perfect pitch. I always say Nate is single-handedly the Boyz II Men sound. Listen to Wanye's solo project without the rest of the guys... kinda sorta sounds Boyz II Menish... but not quite. Listen to Shawn's solo project... close but no. Listen to Nate's solo works... you hear Boyz II Men-esque backgroup vocals!
What I liked musically that they did differently than All 4 One is the "Beat of my heart" part. On the word "heart" the high note of the harmony that Boyz II Men sang stayed the same, but in All 4 One's version it goes down a note on the word "heart".
i think he doing it with a purpose.. he creating a chord structure for voicing... and they're lack of person to complete the sound of the chords..cause it is his voice part... if they'res a bass to cover up the flattened note to become tasteful and strong sound.. flattened note in music are alway's useful in music... such as gospel , RNB , Jazz and blues especially in harmony... such like barbershop.. i think... Maybe his style of singing it changed because he does that lonely part with wayne now and they never used to do that. If he held the note, they would have to skip that part. that's quite a claim. I love B2M but can tell you for a fact they are NOT the best vocalists ever. They're just talented and capable singers with fantastic natural harmony.
