I don't disagree with what you are saying. However, what's frustrating (from a CAR fan) is that this new coaching staff was brought in to have an offensive focus. Reich and staff were supposed to be a step up but its been three steps back. Didn't want to hire Wilkes because he was a defensive guy. This is way worse than last year's O when CAR earned the 9th pick before trading up. Seems the team's got 99 problems, but the Bryce ain't one.
@@shanef7560he for sure is not part of the solution tho. He just does not look NFL ready no matter how people try to spin it. The things he could get away with in college just do not translate well into the NFL

The thing with Carolina though is....they werent a "terrible" team til they did what they did to get Bryce. Most Panther fans (before the draft and now) wanted a QB but were fine rolling the dice on Darnold another season or so if that meant keeping DJ Moore and using the picks from the cmac trade to get better OL and another WR with higher selections than where they drafted Mingo and the other linemen they drafted. No matter how good Bryce was in college and how good he MIGHT turn out to be in the NFL....he absolutely was not worth the moves they made to get him.
As a Panthers fan it is alarming how bad the OL and WR play is. And the ones that are saying Bryce sucks and they picked the wrong player really need to watch this.
I love how all the couch QBs and media is hating on this kid and then you watch a film study from a former qb and realize why they fired their coach. Bryce can’t do anything with this.
I am assuming we’re running old school football routes due the coaching staff. Aside from the actual offensive coordinator, we have dinosaurs coaching our slow receivers. This film was excruciating to watch and this might be the worst season ever for the Panthers. Our schedule is going to get harder after this Bears game. I hope all those “fire Matt Rhule” fans are happy. We’re literally worse on offense now! Icky seems to have digressed and our defense keeps getting injured left and right! All these moves from the front office were not it!!! Our scouts need to stop listening to all the ACC & SEC couch managers as well!
Thanks as always, JT! Your videos are always great and truly insightful. You always provide unbiased analysis of Bryce’s play which is hard to find. In your opinion, what are some reasons why our WRs have terrible route running abilities? Is it bad coaching, lack of talent, or bad play design?
Your playart drawing (?) is insane. Those check marks you made at the 9:00 mark were 🤌 And some of the lines and circles you make are near perfect. Pound for pound best playart in the world.
This film is a great example of how perfectly good QBs can get ruined when they get drafted by incompetent organizations. What's even the point of putting Young out there when this is your team? He's not learning how to play QB in the NFL like this. He's set up to fail and he's only going to learn how to survive while playing on a bad team. I have to feel being in this situation would instill so many bad habits in almost any QB. From what I've seen from BY, I feel like he would be balling out if he had some competent players around him. He seems like a natural leader out there and I feel he's done a good job in the few times where he had opportunities to succeed.
Bengals fan, this reminds me of our offense from the first few weeks when Burrow was hurt. Lots of static routes, nobody in the secondary (or even the LBs) are threatened vertically so they all aggressively sit on and attack underneath stuff that they know is coming. The DL is hyper aggressive in their pass rushes leading to situations where the QB is pulling his eyes down to scramble before WRs even hit their breaks. Lots of static routes that don't have time to get open because of pressure from the DL. Can't run the ball because you're playing from behind constantly. It's all bad. For us it was Burrow's calf that was limiting the downfield passing game. I'm not familiar with the Panthers but based on this video if they don't have any good speed at WR to threaten defenses, and CBs can sit over top of these guys without breaking out of their backpedal, and all you're doing is running stops and hitches underneath, that's gonna cause issues. I remember us screaming for the same thing - GO DOWNFIELD once in a while just to back off the CBs. That #40 CB sitting on the stop and breaking before the WR, you need to throw a stop-and-go at that guy and toast him deep. That is, if the OL can give #9 time to wait on that double-move to play out.
This makes me wonder how much Thomas Brown is actually designing plays, or if he is simply just calling the. It just seems more like the Panthers are calling plays without considering their personnel. As though the playbook was drawn up several decades ago and never updated to build on the strengths of the players you have. I really do appreciate your breakdown though. So many Panthers fans are ready to give up on Bryce and it just infuriates me. I equate it to sending a soldier to battle with no gun or body armor and then complaining when you lose the war. He has simply not been set up to succeed.
At 13:56 the left guard and tackle double team the defensive tackle and leave the tight end one on one with the defensive end... that's crazy. The panthers need serious upgrades in scheme and execution.
@@AreaOfGray The Panthers are as bad as I can remember right now, and I actually sat in the stadium and watched Jimmy Clausen play for them once. Any time we make a play on offense Bryce is immediately sacked on the next play, there's some stupid penalty, or some other mishap happens. The main priority for the rest of the year just needs to be keeping him healthy and limiting the big hits. I don't care if we have to run max protect and our entire offense is just two yards and a cloud of dust to Hubbard or Blackshear. We're not competitive this season.
Am I wrong in believing that Madden actually has better route concepts then my squad????? Why does Thomas Browns play book never have a shallow crosser in any of the plays? not that thats the major issue I just feel most the routes are all at the same depth for the most part or close to it.
It really sucks, the Panthers were a bad team, that traded away their offensive weapons and future picks to get a great QB prospect only to realize that QBs need weapons and protection and the lost picks are going to slow down the teams ability to build around Young.
He wasnt supposed to need it. That's why they felt justified in getting rid of cmac, dj and the picks. They thought he was worth it. He's not a true 1st overall talent. More like early 2nd round tbh.
@@kevykev388 If anyone in the Panthers organization said "Our QB prospect is so good that he won't need WRs or a running back or a oline, or a clever scheme" , they should be fired immediately, because they are too dumb to be trusted with anything. I think on that very last throw 94 hits Bryce’s hand as he releases the ball which kinda drives it lower and to the left of where he probably wanted to throw it. I’m not too sure, but it looks like he might’ve affected that throw. Although, I don’t play QB at that level so idk if ur hand/forearm getting hit like that right as u release, or maybe a moment after, affects the trajectory of the ball too much. Maybe it was the footwork too idk I’m literally on my couch rn. Anyways #freebryce and I hope this offense gets better cuz sheesh.
First play I feel he had a clean pocket and bailed 15 should have gotten the ball, if CJ stroud would have thrown that before he turned around and got it. I think he is rattled now, as a Texans fan since 02, I saw David Carr get wrecked and it messed him up. He seeing ghost and his arm isn’t the best so it limits the routes. Even if he gets time you can’t run double moves or wheel routes because he has a water pistol and he stares down his reads
bryce young and cj stroud have held the ball for more than 2.5 seconds in the pocket on about 46% of their dropbacks. will levis holds the ball longer than 2.5 seconds on 57% of his dropbacks. he would absolutely look way worse in carolina
JT, absolutely great analysis, gave me a totally new perspective on BY & the Panthers. His supporting cast & coaches cannot feel good collecting their checks.
People keep saying CJ wouldn't do well in Carolina but don't understand CJ is a totally different style quarterback. CJ uses his eyes to move Safeties and linebackers. He also tells his receiver to run a different route based on what he sees. CJ talks about what he sees in film study and during the games and has earned the trust of his coaches to make play adjustments. CJ is well advanced in this way. The main thing is CJ throws his receivers open. That's what is different in college coverage is tighter. CJ talks about these things in press conferences about having to throw in tight windows. Bryce stares down his receivers and holds the ball, waiting for them to get open like he did in college. So stop assuming CJ can't work in Carolina. I wanted the Texans to draft CJ because his game style was NFL ready. Accuracy, calm in the pocket, good base when he throws and anticipation to throw receivers open. Bryce will be a good quarterback top 15, but CJ elite top 5
I have to say, I’ve been pretty pissed when people say Bryce sucks and cj is 100x better but I respect that you gave a real answer not just “look at the stats!” That being said, CJ is the one that had the problem staring down receivers in college, CJ is the one that had the beyond elite receivers every year or his college career, CJ is the one that looked terrible under pressure since he didn’t move in the pocket in college. Bryce commanded and coached his offense, used his eyes and anticipation to trick defenders, led game winning drives against top college teams with limited receiver talent after J Williams left and only had Gibbs at rb as a weapon, Bryce never had stare down problems in college. The Georgia game showed CJ’s elite potential and I think it was right to view him as an elite nfl level prospect, but everyone acting like Bryce didn’t possess the skills and talent to translate to the nfl is not being honest. I genuinely believe this QB class can have multiple top 10 guys like 2018, but they won’t all get there quickly and won’t all look the same on their way. Here’s to hoping that the 3 main guys all work out for their teams.
@lucacellucci1692 I heard this argument before. Tell me what those receivers have done without CJ. Garrett Wilson, nothing with Jets. Olave, nothing with saints. CJ without out them you know the stats and records he's breaking with receivers said had no talent. So that argument you made is dead. As far as staring down his receivers in college, you must not study tape. Everyone who knows he doesn't. Bryce Young had John Metchie and Jameson Williams. Now he can't perform. Top NFL quarterbacks make players around them better. Nico Collins before CJ is not good, Tank Dell rookie Noah Brown was a 4th receiver with Dallas. CJ has already proven he's better. People around the league and commentators said Bryce Young was going to a better situation than CJ. All of a sudden, I hear excuses from the same people Bryce is in the worst situation, no talent. Bottom line Bryce is the one who is having trouble in the league 8 tds /7 int. CJ 14 tds / 1 int
You have to watch football like this, tape with multiple angles, to really get a full understanding of what is and is not working. This suggests not only is Carolina bad schematically but in WR personnel.
Has DJ Chark lost his speed due to injuries? I remember people being very excited when we brought him in and during camp thinking he might be a speed receiver. Another thing: is this a reflection on the wide receivers coach at all? To file among other QTNA: How is that the O-line has regressed SO badly? It was our strength last season, and with Corbett back now only one person has been lost this season. As a fan I'm just so confused. We were told we were only a QB away and that this was not a rebuild team and yet everything looks SO bad.
Bryce isn't gonna have that much success with this team until major changes at all three levels (coaching, OL, Receiving core). Hope he can keep his confidence up, and not have his body destroyed by the pass pro.

It’s pad the stat night for the whole team but the defensive coordinator is the real winner.
Marsette needs to be used in the passing game more (at all) He is probably the only fast guy on the offense since Chark is really slow now.
These videos are amazing. I wish more Panthers' fans would listen to reason.
Get the word out
Man if you're a qb coming out of college you almost gotta put your ego in check and hope to get drafted later in the draft. Too many top qb careers have been ruined because they go top of the draft to bad teams and get no chance
@@calebhoffman6368 no QB could be the solution in this situation. this is like taking a high school football team and putting a top QB on the team to play against pros. RBs not averaging 4 yards per carry, o-line getting eaten up, WRs not getting open. And you're here saying the QB isn't part of the solution. bravo
@@calebhoffman6368 Did you watch the video?

Love your videos. It sucks watching BY have no help and then get blamed for everything. Man is doing all he can as rookie.
After his stints with Indy and Carolina, it's hard to believe that Frank Reich was once a super bowl winning offensive coordinator.
That’s was Doug Peterson’s offense and Doug Peterson calling plays. Reich had nothing to do with that Super Bowl. Period. Check. The end.
So, other teams took a chance with someone as a head coach who had nothing to do with the Super Bowl win? Yeah, Sure.@@DeftAtom 😆
Those check marks you made at the 9:00 mark were 🤌
And some of the lines and circles you make are near perfect.
Pound for pound best playart in the world.
JT, I’m a Panthers fan and I’m going to start selling “where do you want the ball to go?” T-shirts. Ima send you a cut 😂
Amazing job by Bryce Young to utilize his #1 receiver in this game. A perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeting Kenny Moore II.
Lmao. Now that’s funny
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol panthers should sign him in the off season as their #1 receiver 😂
I see what you did there😂😂😂
Get this breakdown to tepper somebody please!
I am a die hard ohio state and cj stroud fan. But man I feel bad for Bryce. Hope he can stay alive.
As an Ohio St. fan, shall we then discuss the abject failure of every other Ohio St. QB in the NFL not named CJ Stroud?
Go Bucks!
Panthers fan. Your breakdowns are 👌 awesome. Watching my Panthers is painful.
As a Colts fan, I know from experience, Frank Reich and his scheme is Not It!
The panthers need serious upgrades in scheme and execution.
hoo boy next week's installment should be a banger after that dumpster fire last night.
😂😂😂😂 I like Bryce. I also think the Panthers are terrible. No help
Been watching since college and got to see my first start on here, Crazeee
It really sucks, the Panthers were a bad team, that traded away their offensive weapons and future picks to get a great QB prospect only to realize that QBs need weapons and protection and the lost picks are going to slow down the teams ability to build around Young.
Bingo!
As far as the second round talent thing goes, 95% of the good things I have seen from the Panthers Offense this year has been Bryce making something out of nothing. Honestly, if you swap Stroud and Young, the Texans offense would still be 10x better because they are 20x better when it comes to scheme and personnel.
@@reasonablegentleman you’re so right this dude just said a Alabama 5 star recruit whose been a top prospect since high school who broke multiple records at Alabama against the toughest teams they act like these players don’t come from college to the NFL he’s very accurate like people are just going off him being the 1st overall pick and don’t really know him from Alabama I mean he broke a lot of records I can’t wait for him to get this team built around him like tua Jalen Trevor etc I can’t wait
every time i see him upload something about the panthers it’s like i’m staring at the grim reaper i know it’s bad i watch the games but having to rewatch the trash clips hurts 😭
The size difference between Young and Buckner is comical lol
Want to get black out drunk? Take a drink every time JT says “where do you want the ball to go?”
these videos make me feel sane being a panthers fan.
Most routes in NFL are on timing
Looks like Carolina needs to join the club and install the JT quick game offense course. haha

He CAN make that throw, no question, hard to do it constantly when your practically getting tipped on release. Bryce badly needs help up front.
This is Gary Patterson DB coverage. All DBs stay flat footed. Love how Indy defensed this.
Pro sports and politics. The only “professions” in which you can continually fail and keep your job.
Jim Irsay could not WAIT to run this shit show out of town and David Tepper just gobbled it up.
3 out of 4 blankets prefer a Frank Reich offense!
I feel bad for Bryce, but JT's laugh at the inept ability of their OL had me rolling.
19 was wide open on that pick six. Should have thrown up the double mailbox.
THIS WTF I BEEN WAITING ON!!!!!!!!!!!!
That play to Hayden Hurst is the Panthers longest of the season...
As a Panthers Fan I am ready to be hurt again
This offense reminds me of high school football play calls
Will Levis would look way way worse at Carolina. There's no one to catch his hail Mary throws and he would get sacked more too.
bryce young and cj stroud have held the ball for more than 2.5 seconds in the pocket on about 46% of their dropbacks. will levis holds the ball longer than 2.5 seconds on 57% of his dropbacks. he would absolutely look way worse in carolina
Yo he is cooking my squad. All i can do is laugh so i don't cry
JT, absolutely great analysis, gave me a totally new perspective on BY & the Panthers. His supporting cast & coaches cannot feel good collecting their checks.
Just liked subscribed and clicked the bell…. I like you’re insight 🔥
I appreciate that!
How do I tag David Tepper and Scott Fitterer in this video?
Amen
Exactly! Bryce needs to coach his receivers up like elite QBs like CJ do
I have to say, I’ve been pretty pissed when people say Bryce sucks and cj is 100x better but I respect that you gave a real answer not just “look at the stats!” That being said, CJ is the one that had the problem staring down receivers in college, CJ is the one that had the beyond elite receivers every year or his college career, CJ is the one that looked terrible under pressure since he didn’t move in the pocket in college.
@@lucacellucci1692 here’s hoping all 4 of the top quarterbacks work out for their teams and become future hall of famers
Question for you... why do we not line Bryce up under center? Stupidity or you think he would get killed? Respect the answer
I don’t think bryce has a ton of experience under center, don’t think he went under center a lot at bama
Bryce isn't gonna have that much success with this team until major changes at all three levels (coaching, OL, Receiving core). Hope he can keep his confidence up, and not have his body destroyed by the pass pro.
The OL was ranked 10th in the league last year, it’s coaching. Reich brought in a new zone blocking scheme that is steaming dog shit
@@AdamFuller50 I thought David Tepper wanted that and specifically hired a coach to implement that? or am I thinking about the 3-4 defense?
@@AlphaandOmegaHere Somehow I doubt Tepper has the football IQ to prefer a blocking scheme over another you may be thinking of the 3-4 the zone blocking scheme is new to this year, Tepper may have wanted that though I’m not sure
Over and over, you can see Carolina's offensive linemen just giving up, and often giving up early. It's downright shameful.
I've been saying this all year...nobody can get open!
Idk what your deal with Adam Thielen is lol. Dude is still a great WR being used in the wrong role. Your exactly right defenses arent scared of him, but he would make a great slot receiver. He is all they have.
I feel bad for Bryce. This is one of the worst situations ive ever seen a team be in. Like how???? They traded dj moore and all their future picis 🤦♀️

The positive thing I can take from these games is Bryce becomes better from adapting to playing with such a poor supporting cast..even the scheme is bad
Yeah and once (if at all) he gets better weapons this offseason things will be easier for him
It's sad but we are an unserious franchise atm, love the vids.
Hank? 19 falling on the TE? “I’m not tryna see that see that shit ANYMORE”
The media doesn’t want to give up on Bryce cus they all pick him , Houston personnel is no better than The Panthers CJ just bigger and better
Lol
My knowledge about offensive playcalling sadly is mostly from madden and i know that isnt how it is in real life but hooks and curls were my least favorite routes by far. why is that like 80% of their offense especially if they got no speed to threaten go routes
I've been critical of Bryce, but 13:10 was such an eye opener of the kind of shit hand he's been dealt lol

JT, thanks for putting things into perspective. fellow panther fans are so quick to call Bryce a bust and that we should've picked Stroud. Stroud is great, don't get me wrong, but no one would survive as a QB on this team this year =(
Bryce gotta coach these guys up like Stroud does his guys
No. 9 looks like 3/4-scale on film.
Plug any QB into this O, it wont matter, you cant win in the NFL with the protection and lack of speed and play calling problems we have. HOW is this an NFL team
Where is CJ vid? 😢
Been waiting the whole damn week
He fucking up the whole offense by not usong rhe rb put of the backfield. Gotta govenwhat they take
The lack of separation, is that more due to a lack of player talent or bad playcalling/design?
The offensive scheme is just flat out trash
kinda frustrating I bought Patreon for a month and only got like 7 days worth as it resets to the first of the month....
The OC is smoking crack. You can run all stop routes maybe 1 time and get away with it. But it literally didn’t even come close to working once and they ran it like 10 times wtf😂. Please god run something else, they were on it like white on rice the entire game. This OC made the colts defense look like a god squad. They are ranked 23rd in pass defense…
I know one thing is for certain…the Carolina o-line is just lack of talent. Campen one of the best o-line coaches in the business. There’s a reason the packers year in and year out had a top o line in the league for so many years and the reason was James Campen.
As a Colts fan, Reich isn't the answer... Get him out before he ruins BY.
Judging by this u right as hell!
