I'm so excited to start walking again. 7 weeks post op
I couldn’t even put my foot down after surgery, my foot, internal and external ankle was swollen to the point. You couldn’t even touch it. I can’t even walk. My knee is extremely unstable. What ever doctor says it’s okay to walk right after surgery is insane.
Same. My doctor was so confident that I could walk after that. But after surgery, a little shift to the right or left feels like my knee was gonna come apart. Even when the nurse said it was ok to bend a bit while sitting down, in my mind I was like HECK NO! I had a 1 week rest. Then I just got Uber rides to work. Damn stairs 😆.
Exactly! I think very few can walk right after surgery. I’m on my 4th day and I can barely put pressure on it.
4 weeks post keyhole surgery my doctor says i should be walking and going back to work , my whole knee gets swollen as soon as i walk , i cant bend my knee or straighten it either ..
@@risatungolgirl I live upstairs to and I have to get surgery too I just been sitting here trying to figure out how I’m gonna get up and down stairs
@@jesse-yj7xcbro me too… I’ve been told this isn’t normal either.. I feel extreme pain when I try to bend it, I can’t even walk properly because the knee just isn’t working as it should, I still can’t straighten my knee either
I really enjoy this video, and the other ones thanks 😊
Hard thing about this for me is, I broke my fibula and unstablized/severely sprained my ankle in November. Also injured my knee at the time but doctors keep saying it was because of my ankle and never looked at it. Had surgery in December and now my knee pain has just been getting worse and worse while my leg is getting better. I haven’t put weight on my leg since I broke it. I just got the clear to start putting weight on my leg this weekend, but also just had an appointment specifically for my knee. I have an mri next week and a follow up with the knee doc. He’s pretty confident it’s my meniscus and/or mcl and I’ll be put in for another surgery. Can’t find much information on what happens to people in my situation. My ankle is getting better and I’m trying to rehab it, but my knee is getting worse. :/ thanks for the good videos
Full bucket handle tear on my right meniscus. It's taking some serious time. Been at home for almost 7 weeks
@vegetadbz6855 So, in all honesty it wasn't funt at first. However, it was only the first week that was the worst. I kept my brace locked and sat with my leg elevated on something. What no one tells you is that you Have to get a good brand of stool softener / laxative. (I know)
The pain meds are going to block you up and believe you; me, you don't want to pass a 10lbs baby with your leg in that much pain. As far as the pain itself, day 3-4 really do suck but if you stay on schedule with your pain meds, you'll make it through a-ok.
Im 4 weeks in and starting to walk a little only at home carefully, have the guys been to physio during that time? My doctor told me no need which i find very odd
@@mvntra2271 I'm about to be on day 3 of the same thing. Repair of the bucket handle tear. And my leg hurts so fucking much dude. Just getting to the toilet to pee is so painful
i didn’t get crutches or a cane doc said just walk and gave me some therapy instructions to do at home
Me too, I had my surgery at 10.45am and was back home at 2.30pm with no crutches instructed to perform full weight bearing with daily exercises and icing.
Day 3 now and have 90 degrees of knee motion and starting to walk around the house and garden
@@GiantsMcgGod! How did you do this? My doc told me the same thing but I had to borrow some crutches. Going on day 4 and can barely put pressure on lol
What about walking after onset of symptoms. No mri to confirm but symptoms sound like meniscus tear. Waking is not painful unless I overdo it but sitting down and getting up with bending the knee is painful. Unfortunately sitting down to go to the bathroom is one of the worst. I tend to bend my knee out beyond the 90 degree Angle so it’s not as painful.
My surgeon is a idiot. No crutches. Then the doctor says go to therapy tomorrow . Day after surgery. Therapist had me do walking. Leg exercise. And leg kicks. Treadmill. Seriously. I stopped going. The reason I quit was because i flatlined in surgery and they are keeping it hush hush. My chest was extremely painful and bruised.. I'm DNR
Hey Shril! We are extremely sorry to hear that you had a near-death experience with surgery and that your overall medical experience has not been helpful for resolving your issues. One thing to consider is that at El Paso Manual Physical Therapy we specialize in helping people avoid unnecessary injections & surgery while traditional physical therapy tends to focus on healing post-surgery. Because of this, the information we provide will be different from traditional physical therapy advice.

I’ll know in the morning after my surgery 😞
I need a cane I had surgery the other day and they didn’t send me home with crutches
I’ve never used crutches before I’m so nervous about using them after my surgery
Why would you be nervous about using crutches after surgery? The only reason you need them is because the surgery causes swelling and the surgical entry points need to heal, because they cause slight trauma to the tissue.
@@Resist4 cause I don’t want to fall over lol I know that sounds silly but I’ve never had to have knee surgery before just this past December 2023 is when I started having knee pain
@@kenyettawhitson5325 Believe me you have a greater change of falling without crutches. I feel crutches are the best option, unless you want to try a walker but you will move much slower with that.
How to bath?
Great question Ed! Unfortunately, it is very difficult to give general advice on something that likely requires an assessment of your home.
Tore a big hole in my tissue
