You call this a youtube channel, I feel like you are selling yourself short. Yourself and your colleagues have created an accessible archive to the past and done more for preserving history than any group of people I can think of. You are heroes in your own right and If i was rich i would fund every resource you needed to continue what you do. You make me VERY proud to call myself a historian and with people like you in this world, no veteran will ever feel like their story is untold. May God bless you, your family and all your endeavors.
Can any of us really imagine just how important this is for these veterans to return to a place where they fought a battle and to see how it is now? As we age we all want to return somewhere important in our past to remember it and to see how it has evolved, but returning to a battlefield must be almost transcendental.
I am one of those who cannot give financial support...However, I love what you are doing for these veterans, and for the preservation of the history. While I cannot give money, I can offer my prayers, for safety, good health, enjoyable times, and success in preserving their stories. Thank you.
Their stories are so important, now more than ever. Everyone should sit down and listen to these veterans experiences and stories before they are lost to time. Thank you for bringing them to the wider global audience JD ❤
and the attention to detail and research that was a long time ago it is important that these heroes have a voice too and they had in the 80 years remembrance again reflect what we should have done every year - these men were forgotten - and the the stories I was told will last for me a long time
Very happy to help. Love your channel and watch every thing, multiple times JD. I have donated to this cause and wish you every success with this trip. ❤
Can't thank you enough, not only for inspiring me and thousands of others, but also for your dedication and hard work. You're keeping history alive! Hope I will be able to meet you and say hi in Bastogne!
I wish you would consider taking any survivor participants to Manila for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Manila, February 3-March 3, 1945. My father, who passed away 44 years ago, fought there, participating in the liberation of the internees at the University of Santo Tomas.
This is such a brilliant idea JD - my apologies for missing the previous fundraising requests but I'll definitely be donating this time. Greetings from a damp & very cold UK 🇬🇧
JD, First and foremost, thank you for the work that you do, what you support and with the videos we all get to be there with you.. I can't wait to see whrere you take us in the future! You are a memorial for history. I am very glad to support this mission. Keep it going!
OMG, I can't wait to watch this series!! I'm so looking forward to the return of some of the veterans who were in one of the past series!! I'm definitely going to miss the one who passed away!! I have no doubt he'll be with you guys in spirit though!!
Great work JD. I met a guy in the 90's who served with Audie Murphy. He said from Africa up through Europe. Said he was in the 101st something. Said Audie Murphy was so drunk on their last portrait at the end of the war, they had to hold him up. I just donated $101 for your trip. JR
all your programs were so interesting so I applaud what you have done so far and I hope that you find the funds for this to happen - it is brilliant what you achieved so far and I am a bug fan of course as nothing was thought the way was done in schools and lo
My mom was not able to return to Europe. She was among the 49 original WACs that was with Gen. Bradley, 12th AG, SHAEF HQ Eagle Rear. It’s hard to envision her climbing down the ships rigging to jump into a landing craft... My mom wore combat boots.
Speaking of the 2nd World War, I don't know if you are planning to go to Oradour sur glane in France to talk about the martyr city and what happened there. In any case, very good video, thank you.
Next year why not do the video of USS Missouri battleship 80 years later when Japanese surrender to American and it Allies and sign peace treaty on that ship on September 2,1945

From this Veteran 🇺🇸Thank you for all you do.
Wonderful job you are doing in keeping their stories alive.
Thanks for all your efforts on behalf of these worthy vets and the memory of those who have passed, J.D. Glad to help out.
These men are all around 100 years old. Travel isn’t the easiest at that age.
I'm glad Jack and Ed are still doing well enough to make the trip. These videos are always the most impactful. I'll be donating today!
Listening to Ed , the fighter pilot, was so interesting. I'm glad he's included again.

Battleship Missouri has their own YT channel. I can imagine there will be a lot of interest!
Just wish we didn't fight for the bad guys
